This is a great song. You could look at these words, and dosen't it really explain our whole civilization? Gotta step back and wonder, WHAT THE F--- ARE WE DOING?
I tell you what, this guy doesn't get the recongnition he deserves from the music industry, but you and I know who the true artists are, and that's what really matters. Sing on Travis!
oh and the best part is when my 10 cousins who where born and raised in south carolina came here when our gramma passed away and said ...man you live in the wooooods..lmao!!! there is some left but thos CITIOTES keep comin
so true..believe me i am a n.y. country boy..i was raised in a little town that was dairy farms as far as you could see ..corn and hay feilds..workin my ass off before even goin to school its what we did and when i go back there now i aint even allowed to go to my old fishin spots w/my boys..we call them citiotes...they came here to my beautiful hudson valley and destroyed it..now we do lock our doors and my kids will never have the freedom that i had w/my friends..SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!
Wall Streets big corporations have destroyed America, all because Americans sold their souls for cheap garbage they don't need. All the mom and pop places are gone, replaced by big boxes with products from China, Mexico and India. The big Wall Street Reits and homebuilders along with Monsanto and big ag companies have incorporated the entire American populace into slavery.
I love the song that Quinn and Rose use as their theme song. They only play a little of it and I can't find out what it is.Does anyone know what song it is?
Where I come from in the mountains of Massachusetts, it's gone the other way - the farms I used to work on are all gome now not because of urban sprawl, but because agribuisness has made it so hard for the small local farmers to make it so most have gone out of business - fields and pastures over grown, barns falling down. So where do today's kids get to work?
every word is so true im only 19 and i cant tell you how much my town has changed in the past few years. what used to be some of the pertiest deer and coon huntin ive ever seen aint nuttin but housin developments now.it really hurts to see whats happenin to the country in south carolina
it breaks my heart to see farm land get sold, because ya know some big wig city slicker wants to build houses .....money and greed has ruined this country....but when everything all hits the fan, us country folks will take this land back
country music aint country music no more!!!!!!!!!!!!! i use to live next to travis tritt in hiram georgia love his music always wished i could sit at his house by his pool thats the shape of a gee-tar an watch an listen to him sing that would be the prefect day
holy damn...I don't know how I missed this song of his but it is hands down one of his best. So fuhgin sad and makes me pissed at the same time. My childhood seems like it never really happened by looking around at the mess that society has become. I was born in the wrong generation.
Anyone ever hear the new verse he added, and does at concerts? In that version the final line is
"You turn CMT on- the you wonder what for,oh country ain't country no more, yeah country aint country no more"
The crowd stood at cheered at those words...wonder if Nashville pays attention to how people feel about the road Country Music has taken? I love all kinds of music, & appreciate any artform, but I agree with Travis Tritt- they should just call it something else- maybe alternative Country?
@KLUNKET you could add on to that like..... Taylor Swift moved in and the legends moved out there went the finest music around. Everyone uses auto tune anymore country music ain't country no more country music ain't country no more
@KLUNKET I see what you're saying, but at the end of the day, Travis himself became famous singing a brand of country which differs greatly from the fiddle sawing, banjo picking, original country of the likes of Hank senior and early Marty Robbins. What I'm saying is, every generation of country is a little bit different than the last, but it's all country. Our modern singers are just doing their spin on the stuff they grew up listening to...do you get me?
Gotta take up land cause people wont stop having children. That's the shame. Why does anyone need 6 kids? Our parents had so many siblings because they worked their parents needed help farming. The population is getting out of control, and the rural areas will continue to get less rural.
Screw developers and big corporations. America has become a big craphole filled with wall street elite who have destroyed our country for those who are greedy wanabees.

i still live on my family farm in blyhtewood south carolina..been in my family since 1762, our town has boomed with people and big businesses. they're about to build 600 houses right down the road from us.. kinda sad when you think about it..where does the growth and development end? i guess they'll just keep on building until eveything looks like the city.
This song just tears me up. My family has lived on this farm for over 40 years and they turned the county road into 4 lanes and now growth is happening faster and faster. Our schools can't keep up and those of us with all the land pay thousands of dollars in taxes to build new ones. It's hard to survive... I worry about this place when my gram dies...
Harlan Howard said it best: "Country music is three chords and the truth." This song is living proof of that. And we got country up north, too--some of us Yankees think Travis is great, too!
This song really drives home what we've lost in the rush to get what we want. (does that make sence?) I mean, you grow up get board of not having anywhere to go. So one store pops up then another then another, till you get older an realise "Hey, this isn't what I wanted." but by that time it's too late. Going from being able to leave your doors an windows unlocked to deadbolts. I know I wish I could go back to when times were easier. Compaired now.
@111Chance Brother, you said a mouthful there. I look back on my childhood, compare it to today, and say exactly the same thing: This isn't what I really wanted.....
and lo and behold, it is...............................................it's too late! And man, are those words that were once spoken, sooooo true: 'You can never go home again'!!
man i can't wait till i get outta school and can go live in the country. i've been trapped in the city all my life and it sucks. city people don't know what they're missing and they're killing good music like this.

theres a guy who knows whats goin on...that "a little bit more country than that" song on the radio pisses me off every time i hear it...i got more country in my left boot...travis tritt is the most under rated country boy around and also one of the best...hes ALMOST as good as ol hoss himself
@Madisonrvr I remember when this song was first played on the radio. At the end of the song, the last line was "He turns on the radio and he wonders what for, Country ain't country no more". I've searched for this song with that very same line, but have never found it.
I think this song's been done by a few others, but I've never heard anybody else cover it, or any other version. I wish TT would release a CD of all acoustic numbers he's done, he's the best isnt' he?
@CATERPILLARD9L there is a cover version on you tube with that line. i think it is like 5:47 long. i saw him 6 months ago and he used that at the end except he inserted cmt instead of radio. place went nuts. it was great
@Madisonrvr really good show, just travis and a guitar but the sound just filled the room. quaint setting, maybe 4-5 hundred people. one of the best concerts i have been to in a long time.
@thesoothsayers The south isn't the only place where country is dying. We have it up north too. Especially is you live within 100 miles of a large city.
We as Americans need to save the old ways of life. What Travis is singing about is happening all over the States and we need to do SOMETHING about it. Thank you Travis for telling it like it is. Much respect to you brother. Your music helps me through every day in my life. God bless you and yours.
Awesome Travis!!! These pussy ass country singers on the radio now could never touch you bud. This song is so good and so real. I hope you see this Travis because I like all your stuff very much. My name is Mike Brown from Maceo,Ky. I am country singer\songwriter Marty Brown's older brother and I wish to hell this was the kind of country music that you heard on the radio. Radio sucks now and thank you for this great song that is real, from the heart, and far beyond this bubblegun crap. Awesome!!
I agree this hits home and we all wish it could be like the good ol days but we could make what we have feel more like home if we started treating people with respect again . I would love to be able to sleep with my door unlocked again
this song is so true but i live here in lucedale mississippi small town still stuck in the old days and how nice we can go to bed here with the doors unlocked thank god
I can't begin to tell you how much I envy you buddy. I live in Western New York in a rural farming town but still have to lock the doors at night because you just never know around here. I deeply respect your southern lifestyle and wish I could experience it for myself and my family.
this really did bring tears to my eyes as i grew up on a 100 acre farm hunting with my family and friends riding dirtbikes wherever we wanted and now all around is developed and the deer have almost disappeared and the farm is going to be sold along with all the memories
This song hits to to close to the truth. Growing up you wish you had all the store, malls, ect. But like now as I'm getting older and have all this . . garbage around me, having to make sure your car/home is locked at night and you realise it's not home anymore. You know what I mean?
Play n in creeks, hide n seek on top of haybails in the moonlight and waking up to "fresh" sausage and homeade biscuits in the morn. Our kids will never know how great this really was!
yeah it's sad we can't trust our neighbors..........lock the doors......farm ground turnin into housing additions that sit empty........ kids growin up on a farm don't want anything to do with it.........changing of times kinda sucks.....always try to take a kid out fishin or huntin or just hang around outside.....thats my thoughts..great song!!!
rings true to me...........this once gravel road i played catch and football on,now is a paved 4 lane with 2 wal-marts within 1 mile.........sucks!!! the almighty dollar in the end screws us.
this song is so true...i miss the good ol days...lemonade in the shade and plantin potatoes...now i got a big fuckin lawn behind the barn and not enough money to buy my damn lemonade...country aint country no more
38 years old and 75 miles North of Atlanta.... 365 came thru and took some of our land and the city followed close behind....... Coon hunted and Trapped these hills all my life and my daddy made our money on the Farm, hes dead and gone, still got the farm but Man, the city folks have made it hard on us and "Country aint Country no more" is oh so true!!! Kinda sad really........
@muddcreekdogg i know how you feel i live over in gwinnett county and i used to be able to go behind my house and hunt now theres a huge neighborhood its all metro atlanta my road used to be a dirt road now thats gone to crap i wish it could be the same again
from growing up in the hills and living in a city now, this song just rings so true. i sing and play guitar in a metal band, but we let the country come through a lot.. bunch a pissed off displaced country boys really... but this song just sums up so much. Thanks for posting and thanks to Tritt for this song.
Hey guys..you want a REAL NICE country ride(be it by car pickup or my way HARLEY!?) Try route 30 from N.Y. thru Indy!! I promise you won't be disappointed!!!!!!!!
I lived the first 18 years of my life in the country on 140 acres but for the last 6 years I have lived in the middle of a concrete jungle. I'll sure be glad when the day comes that I can go back home
That is my life's focus. I'm so sick of the lack of respect that Americans show each other AND THEMSELVES in the city. It's sad... it's nearly animalistic in the way that people disrespect each other. Be it in the way they drive (country folks too here) or the missing "self worth" that is getting rarer all the time. I want to get back to the hills of SE Ohio ASAP. The Lord knows that it is on my heart & I want to get my parents out of the city if possible for their twilight years. I <3 em.
thats damn right country aint country anymore. Its bullshit the way country has turned out. Sorry if i don't spell to peoples likings coz i had to leave school just to help out on my granddads farm. Family job.
Man..... That song is so true!! We live up here in Habersham, 80 miles north of Atlanta.... Brutha, Atlanta has came to our little piece of Heaven.... And Country Aint Country No More!! Its so sad.
this song is how i was raised. Now i just wish everyone who knows and its in their blood shouldn't stop. Its the southern pride thats why where called southern people. Dumbasses like most southern haters say. Born a REBLE will always be one.
Year for year I`ve been wandering if the responsible people for the country awards in Nashville are blind and dove. How else could it be that Travis has not even once has been nominated as county entertainer of the year. I`m so happy that Travis and Patty and a few others still let me believe that country is still country.
Travis is real, he doesn't conform to Nashville's standards, thats why he is underated. Country music has turned into big business and unless your one of the ass kissers, just like in any other business, you aren't recognized regardless of your talent. Travis probably has the most unique voice in country music, and he has a range that most of us would kill for. He isn't Nashville's pretty boy so he never gets recognized. Damn Shame! Keep doing what you do Travis, I'll keep buying your CD's!
There is something very unique and original about Travis. He's no made up country star, hes the real deal, and very underated IMO. I enjoy all his stuff very much. Very talented guy.
This hits so close to home. Growing up here I thought this place was boring, that wouldn't it be great if there were more store, malls, ect. Now that I'm grown, we've got a lot of stores a mall four lane roads, traffic an more freaking stop lights. And this place that I grew up in doesn't feel like home anymore, used to beable to leave your car and homes unlocked, can't do that anymore. Now that I'm getting older I'm starting to see how much we've really lost. And this song drives the point home
Yeah I tend to find this song to be true. I mean country music ain't like it used to be and a lot of people have to lock there doors and stuff because of theives and stuff. Just a lot of truth to this.
paulding county has grew up so much i mean everything is so true about this song houses are everywhere traffic is horrible and deer hunting is almost impossible now travis tritt wrote this song from the heart no doubt
I know what you mean. I live just South of ya' in Douglas County. This song and especially this live version makes me tear up just a little on account of how true it is. Douglasville, Hiram, & Dallas used to be the damn sticks, but not anymore...'shame.

This is the real deal I agree with dusto73 on this one.we use to hear and see real country all the time.now its nothing but taco stands and sissy boy bands to hear and see.
Im from a small town from South Carolina called Townville... This song reminds me of home first time I heard it I shed a tear not gonna lie.. They just dont write songs like this anymore and they damn sure broke the mold when they made Travis what a musician...
Travis Tritt sure knows what he's talkin about. This might be the most true song I've ever heard!

I think this song's been done by a few others, but I've never heard anybody else cover it, or any other version. I wish TT would release a CD of all acoustic numbers he's done, he's the best isnt' he?
Madisonrvr 1 year ago

Awesome!!

I lived the first 18 years of my life in the country on 140 acres but for the last 6 years I have lived in the middle of a concrete jungle. I'll sure be glad when the day comes that I can go back home
Pipeliner247 2 years ago 2
That is my life's focus. I'm so sick of the lack of respect that Americans show each other AND THEMSELVES in the city. It's sad... it's nearly animalistic in the way that people disrespect each other. Be it in the way they drive (country folks too here) or the missing "self worth" that is getting rarer all the time. I want to get back to the hills of SE Ohio ASAP. The Lord knows that it is on my heart & I want to get my parents out of the city if possible for their twilight years. I <3 em.

Sorry mean blind and deaf of course

Year for year I`ve been wandering if the responsible people for the country awards in Nashville are blind and dove. How else could it be that Travis has not even once has been nominated as county entertainer of the year. I`m so happy that Travis and Patty and a few others still let me believe that country is still country.
oldiesixty 2 years ago 2
Travis is real, he doesn't conform to Nashville's standards, thats why he is underated. Country music has turned into big business and unless your one of the ass kissers, just like in any other business, you aren't recognized regardless of your talent. Travis probably has the most unique voice in country music, and he has a range that most of us would kill for. He isn't Nashville's pretty boy so he never gets recognized. Damn Shame! Keep doing what you do Travis, I'll keep buying your CD's!

111Chance 3 years ago 5
Yeah I tend to find this song to be true. I mean country music ain't like it used to be and a lot of people have to lock there doors and stuff because of theives and stuff. Just a lot of truth to this.
