@joelombrdo Gillan was great, but he can´t be considerated as the greatest singer because there are/were/will be more singers with the same capabilities: Freddie Mercury, David Coverdale, the same Gillan (just during 1970-1973), Sammy Hagar can enter to the list too (his solo career was much better than Gillan´s), etc.

And take into consideration that Sammy Hagar still can sing as great as ever, but Gillan can´t (the WhoCares single with Tony Iommi, Jon Lord and company can prove it). Sorry!!!

Deep Purple will always be the pioneers of metal music(along with Sabbath and Zeppelin) but even though they have sold 100 Million records, it doesn't seem like it because all their albums have gone Gold(500,000 copies) except for Machine Head(2X Platinum) Machine should have sold WAY more and other Purple albums should have gone at least Platinum(1 Million)
