  • To have a fish considered a "record" the fish must be killed, and weighed by officials. This guy like most real musky fisherman practice catch and release. So this is considered a catch and release world record.

  • why was he holding a stuffed musky when he said he released it?

  • @mymiddleleg1 its a replica they said it in the video

  • @mymiddleleg1 You can get super high quality replicas made if you have a good photograph.

  • The record is 69lbs 11oz. not this one. But this is still a monster

  • Wow I wish we had northern pike that big in the UK! Great work for the c&r! I've got the um-official uk record for a shore cought smooth hound at 24lb, but catch and realise is about being a sports man! No way could I kill a one in a lifetime fish like that

  • @Gman3094 Actually, if you look at some of the books by Falkus and Buller, you do!

  • a world record IMO, good for you to release it

  • what lure

  • Thats isint a real pike lock how he hold the pike you cannot hold something that big with youre arms like that MORAN!

  • @Robbzman The irony of misspelling MORON.

  • well done for release this fish only a cunt wud kill her

  • @pikemancolley

    absolutely agree.

  • not the real world record for muskie.

  • releasing the monster fish and keeping smaller ones is actually bad for the ecosystem of the lake. ive seen it before in private ponds and lakes where they tried to raise up some big ones and kept small ones until the point the big fish had nothing to eat and started dying off

  • @BigJT2010 This was caught in the largest waterway in North America dumb fucker.

  • @BigJT2010 And people don't keep Muskies..they are a trash fish...

  • Wisconsin does have the world record, along with a 5 story musky that we built to show it! which not to mention led to the freshwater fishing hall of fame in Hayward, WI

  • That's a huge fish. Nice that you lket it go.

  • You are the Man!! thats the real World Record in my book. Doesnt Matter what any book says, you have the replica and pictures thats all you need!!

    Catch and Release!!

  • A lot of respect from hear in the UK

  • St Lawrence sucka! That's all I gotta say

  • the thumbnail looks likes hes holding a penis...

  • @greenberet - the world record musky alliance is just a bunch of guys with big bruised egos as far as I'm concerned. I've read the research and believe Art Lawton's fish should be reinstated, just because a big name hasn't caught a 60# fish doesn't mean they aren't real.

  • BIG thanks for be a great Angler 1000000 likes;]

  • expidemic is right wisconsin still has the record musky

  • ask any fisherman wisconsin still holds the world record muskie

  • this wasnt a world record catch tho, world record was caught in wisconsin and weighed almost 70 pounds.....no questions this guy says my ass rofl look up ur dnr record fish

  • @expidemic ur thinking about Louis Spray fish which will be no longer considered a record. Look up the photos of his "69" poiund fish mounted in a glass case and you can tell it wasnt much larger than 50". My buddy has a replica of the spray fish and it looks like a shark...nothing like the srpay fish he said he caught...this is def one of the largest ever caught. there was a 59" caught but it wasn't as girthy.

  • @greenberet069 your wrong...art lawtons fish was dqd not louis spray...man thought u were a fisherman look at the official DNR website...trust me i live in wisconsin the fish is at the fishing hall of fame which is in hayward where the fish was caught...

  • @expidemic wow nice insult. that fish is also considered bogus. Its not considered the record by TRUE musky men and its considered by many including the WRMA (World Record Musky Association). You are obviously not. I know where the SPOT it was caught on the Chip. You may want to hold your toungue until you know what you are talking about / to bud. This fish posted was MUCH larger than Sprays and Lawtons and many others caught in your WI waters. Thats why they all come to MN to fish HA!

  • @greenberet069 somone is buthurt about the truth haha look it up...still the world record u ugly fuk

  • @expidemic first i thought u were slow...now i think your dense. try reading the words sloooowly before replying to anything. you'll do everyone a favor.

  • @expidemic notice how i said "which will no longer be considered" that means it eventually wont be. not that it isnt. try reading next time pal.

  • @expidemic not to add any salt to the wounds but heres a link for ya worldmuskiealliance . com/spray next time do your homework and dont talk shit if u have no idea what you are talking about. have fun with your crappie fishing..

  • @greenberet069 the dnr is the official for record fish u fukin idiot...spray has the world record musky!!! caught and documented r u fukn stupid?

  • ya, musky should be the last fish that u wanna kill for a trophy

  • GAN IS AWESOME AND YOU KNOW IT XP

  • so what if you catch a record fish. who do you call? what do you do?

  • @bikeridingpinko u contact ur local dnr

  • "But theres no way I would kill a beautiful fish like this" - Legend, way to go mate! :)

  • this made me so happy.

  • You measure the length and the girth and let the fish go and still have a record. What could you do with a fish like that anywaysÉ

  • What an angler, letting the fish go, not caring about that world record!

  • @justmarinus Good to know there are people like that out there.

  • Congrats with your worldrecord and i just wanted to say that i'm proud of the fact that there are still true fisherman out there who let there trophyfish swimm back unharmed!

By the way, thats a mighty fine replica of the fish that you've got there!

  • I live just outside of gananoque and ive tried fishing for the monster but no luck!

  • He let it go, awesome!

  • jees what did you use

    monster musky

  • are u sure thats not an alligator

  • This guy is the MAN... Nice to see he released it.. Superdale17 said it best

  • @Donny1329 Its called a replica. Safe alternative to mounting and much better benefits too.

  • Replicas are the way to go. Last longer, can look more realistic if you find a good taxidermist (some people disagree with this), cheaper, and best of all you let the brute go to be caught another day.

  • hope you bought that muskie dinner

before you let her go ..

  • That's a monster! And the fact that you released her makes you a true, true sportsman!

  • this video is false the fish is really a monster truly but not a world record even if they killed it, the real world record was caught in wisconsin back in the day which weighed little over 69 pounds was very well documented and still was bigger then this fish.....props to the guy tho for releases that monster musky tho, all and all still a monster fish!

  • Good guy I would never kill it either I had a amazing bass that weighed 12 pounds and I let it go I don't regret it

  • @THEcoolKID4100 bass are an invasive species where im from.....i would havekilled the shit out of that 12 pounder

  • @giiwed faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag

  • When you feel the power, experience the elusiveness, and witness the beauty of a musky or any other trophy fish, fresh or salt water, i dont understand how people can kill such a respectable fish

  • Wow man that is monster. and you are true angler . Thank you for showing such class

  • hey man i you got alot of class letting that fish go ps nice fish man

  • the real record was caught in wisconsin and weigh 69 pounds

  • the real world record was caught in the chipiwa floage in wisconsin. that guy deserves the real credit

  • Mister McNair, you are a class act! My hat is off to you for releasing that fish! You have set an example for a lot of young anglers, and did the right thing. Congratulations on a VERY nice fish!

  • i have never went muskie fishing in my life. I plan on going sometime this summer and this fall, but i was wondering if i have any good baits? I have a gold 9" Bull Dawg 9" green bait with a yellow and orange belly and a black stripe on its back and red eyes, and my dad has a 9" ol' woden plug. So are any of these good?

  • Great sportsman, great fish! How strange that in order to get the record you have to kill it.

  • Mad respeck on the release.

  • fuck ya gans got them lurkers

  • Outstanding. What a sportsman.

  • "Thomas Patrick Hallaran", would like this one"! "Except he's in Musky Heaven right now"!

  • catch & realese...... :|

  • Oh yeah! Gan ftw!

  • there got to be candian because there too nice

  • Wen you catch a fish you can take pictures weight and length then send them to taxidermy to get a replica made

  • the guy in the beginnig creeps me out

  • if he let it go, how come he has it mounted in his hands?

  • @Donny1329 it is a rep listen to the vid man

  • @Donny1329

they have great places these days that can make a replicate of the fish or animal. they take the length and weight measurements and make an exact replica.

  • Comment removed

  • Ive caught my share of big muskie and alway s realease them why catch the big one once when u can come back a year later when its bigger and it puts up a better fight

  • Holy shit balls... lmao Im scared to go swimming now =]

  • Don't get me wrong I think catch and release is the best thing to do for the big ones, but the next person who catches it may think different and take it. That is what I hate. That's why I love the fact of slot limits, but not many places have slot limits. The places that do have slot limits have a great/big population of nice fish.

  • haters

  • Awesome job landing that Musky! That sumbich will eat far too many walleye and perch though!

  • i like the sportsmanship of catch and release.....however... if i caught that fish... i would EAT IT :)

  • thats not even that big

  • @Eriefisherman Never could get the feel for fly fishing no matter how much I tried, was more a danger to myself and any bystanders than the fish!! Cheers.

  • Nice job at releasing the fish, but its not a world record, it wasn't officially weighed and even if it weighed 65lbs. it wouldn't be a world record.

  • Aww good job for releasing the fish! You gave away a record to be a good citizen!

  • lol he said "im glad that there is something here for tomorrow"...something here for tomorrow? yeah something here to eat someone lol

  • @Eriefisherman That is an impressive Bluegill, wish I could catch one like that, but usually end up with a little 5 inch yellow perch, bloody bait pirates!

  • thats bull that they said u have to kill the fish for it to be the record. that will be a record in my book. nice fish!!

  • a caught a 8 lb smallmouth there this summer

  • Great catch!!! Good on ya for the release to...

  • Hell yeah brother! GREAT WORK!!!

  • its a dream of a northern fisherman to catch a fish like this. It is a great example of the responsability that anglers of today to ensure that out kids will get a shot at a fish like this. More people need to be like this fella. Mine and many others thanks go to you sir

  • you are a real angler !! catch and release your dreams :)

  • Awesome sportsmanship sir

  • That's awesome. There is no point in just keeping it for a trophy when someone else can have the pleasure of catching another time.

  • Classy, Let that Muskie go..... Real angler!

  • Kudos to the fisherman for a great release. No better way to do it!

  • I'm a catch and release fisherman myself. If I was 20+ miles out in the woods without food and needed to eat to get back home, I would keep my catch. But even the big ones I catch get to go back to their homes again=) Congrats and thanks for being an awesome sportsman!

  • whats the difference between pike and muskie

  • @vBugsBunny pike dont grow as big and arent as aggressive and pike have a spos that are yellow that cover them muskees have stripes if you dont get the int (tiger muskee)

  • @Meannfun actually, pike are more aggressive. Muskie are known for there frustrating habit of following but not striking. It takes a seasoned angler to hook a fish sometimes when they start that crap

  • @wishinifishin

i dont know what your smoking, but muskie are a far more aggresive fight then a pike.

  • @raimfour your right, but i never said anything about the fight, just there nature.

  • nice fish

  • Good for you and congratulations.

  • awsome fish

  • awesome fish. very sportsman like to release

  • Real men release - doubtful that she is still a vital part of breeding for the lake though - she may be past her prime spawn cycles.

  • @jefftandjenc She may be past her prime, but think about the genes she carries. You want those spread out as much as possible. Congrats on the fisherman for releasing her. I release all my catches.

  • Yeah Killing it w4t642q3 r5[ok s;gjksl;???

  • I think the amount of likes shows that true fisherman can catch and release 82 likes and 2 dislikes at time of comment what a pair of idiots, well done a stunning fish

  • Awesome fish and an awesome guy! Great to see he released it!

  • I agree wit supermvp

  • j'ai deja ete au milles iles c'est super comme place beaucoup de courant dans ce coin la. catch & release pour moi aussi there will be fish for my son to catch. Bravo!

  • Man, we got a muskie in Hayward, Wisconsin thats WAAAYYY bigger than that thing, 143 feet long!

  • i always release my fish i really dont like keeping all the pike i cath or bass the only fish i would keep is some trout!!! nice job mann

  • omg its water dinosaur :D very nice

  • Well if it weighed 65# as the news anchor said, how is that a world record? The world record is over 69# and comes from Wisconsin.

  • @jimmyp7162 catch and release record

  • @jimmyp7162 news castors frequently miss quote stats, the estimated weight on the fish was 75 if I recall...

  • This man should be noted as an exemplary sportsman. He must have faced a gigantic challenge, wondering whether to keep or release the world record. Amazing story- that is a true sportsman and we need better catch and release standards established in the musky and pike fishing community.

  • thats a record for a muskie? walleye can get bigger than that.

  • @igotbling4 You're drunk and commenting on Youtube again.....

  • @headinjuredkeeper what the hell? that makes no sence and i meant length wise not lbs.

  • @igotbling4 Step away from the Natural Light.

  • @headinjuredkeeper what are you talking about?

  • @igotbling4 Walleye do NOT get that big in weight or length. Period. The world record was 25 lb and 41 inches long. This musky is a helluva lot longer than that and 41 pounds heavier.

  • @igotbling4 The world record walleye is in the 25 pound range..

  • That is a big Mother F***er..the biggest i seen was 44 lbs and it was huge.....nice fish this there

  • man that is a huge fish. wow! good sport to release it. i would have done the same.

  • Catch and release should be the only thing allowed... Who wants to kill a giant, Myself and my 2 boys, 11 and 10 just started pike fishing,,, no matter how big, we measure, put it on a stringer, take a few pics, revive and let go.... Only caught about 20, but none have died that we know....

  • @SuperHathos catch and release should never be made law, and you shouldn't need a fishing license either, if your homeless, broke or just hungry you should be able to fish. sportfishing is far over regulated, commercial fishing needs to slow down for a few years tho. as far as freshwater goes animal lovers need to return there non wanted pets to the store or kill them and stop releasing their exotic pets into the lakes to kill off all the local species

  • @ouellette666 the laws are there for a reason...

if people could keep what they wanted then there wouldnt be any fish.

  • @josh4207987 i didn't say there should be no regulation i am saying the current regulation is fucked, and the majority of fshermen only keep what they need for there own families, some families rely on fishing to feed themselves. meanwhile commercial fishermen can take millions of tons of fish annually and not even need a . in general there is more regulation on a person like me or you then there is on a commercial fishing boat, and that's the problem

  • @ouellette666 You picked the wrong argument with the wrong guy... I would much rather see a 40" pike or musky, live and thrive,,, with how many anglers catching and releasing them,, and being awarded for their money spent.. I would rather see some piece of shit off the street die, than one of these majestic fish,, that have overcome all odds, and become the apex predator themselves..

  • @SuperHathos and as a commercial fisherman without a license we are allowed to keep pike and musky 20 inches+, when i'm not working i can't keep anything under 44 inches and i need to buy a license to fish, you don't see a fucking problem with that? as long as i'm taking fish out of the lake a ton at a time i don't need a license and i can keep nearly everything, but a citizen on the other hand can get charged and possibly do jail time for being a half inch short of 44

  • @ouellette666 You are right I didn't know the quota for guiding... Sorry. I appologize

  • @ouellette666 You make some good points but the fish point... NO homeless can get their ass out there and find a job... I spend a lot of money on my boat, gear, and whatever else... Friendly nets. There should be some limits in place... Keep no Pike between 20 and 45.. They don't even breed till their 30 inches.. 1 a year over 45 and as many as you want under 20... Because there's tons of them..

  • @SuperHathos where did i say there should be no limit? are you fucking kidding me? this is the third fucking time i'v had to say this. i myself am a commercial fisherman in the great lakes ontario, commercial fishing industries take as much as they can, our quota is higher then we can possibly catch and were taking millions of tons of fish a year, as a commercial fisherman we are basically unlimited and we don't need a license to do it. and i'd rather see you die before a fucking homeless person

  • @ouellette666 Cool homeless people are much more productive than me.... I pay $800.00 in taxes every 2 weeks.. They are much more productive.. I'd use them to bait the hooks for Musky... Sorry you don't feel the same...

  • it doesnt matter if people say it is not a record you will always no it is and it dose not matter what others say. great fish. and good job letting it go.

  • @ryanaauwarriors there used to be replica mount in west bend gander mountain do u live there?

  • Hats off to Dale MacNair. You not only caught a beautiful creature, but you let him go. That's a man I'd be honored to fish with. You have my admiration and respect sir.

  • lucky was with you

  • Cool!

  • What a great sportsman and an AWESOME FISH one of a lifetime!

  • NICE man good job letting it go that is awesome

  • Comment removed

  • Dale MacNair, you are a topman for releasing that fish, a true sportsman!

    Brgds,

    Phil Blakey UK.

  • well done on c and r

  • Good for him for letting it go. In this day and age, you can finally prove all your best fish stories with digital cameras and YouTube videos, so keep those goof fish genes in the pool!

  • Thats a Giant Fish, and nice that he caught it. A 63" Muskie was caught and released in Lac Suel back in '92 that was slightly bigger than this one.

  • awesome catch even better release

  • now thats a true angler

  • True sportsman. Hats off to this guy for such respect for our natural resources.

  • Superb when a Angler realises that what he has caught is a one off and releases. The days of trophy fish taking are numbered and to release the fish was the action of a Gentleman who not only shares a passion for fishing but also for the conservation of his Target species... GREAT STORY!!

  • the record is 69 lbs

  • I love when people catches and release. :)

Me and my buddy went out fishing after pikes yesterday, we caught 2, 14 pounds (7.2kg), and One, big 20 pounds (10kg) pike! We were so happy. We fished for 10 hours straight in lovely sun weather, like no wind at all. Just a lovely dag. :)

We caught 7 pikes, and lost 2 :) All of them were released.

    Nice video, thanks for sharing.

  • 65 pounds holy shit thats a big fucking muskie im glad u let it go so i can catch it and beat ur record haha :P

  • I hate to break it to you but that's not a World Record Muskie. Its probably a top 5 but I am an avid Muskie fisherman in the Hayward Lakes area and I can tell you it is not as big as Louie Spray's or Cal Johnson's. Although, I've got to hand it to you, that's a hell of a catch. I would love to catch a fish that big and I thought it was pretty cool that you actually released it. My only concern is I wonder if releasing it does any good. Considering its size, it has to be on the back end of life.

  • YOU CAUGHT AND RELEASED!!!! FKN RIGHT BUDDY!!!!!!!!! People that keep (kill) Muskie are complete ignorant bastards.

  • @iRECKONER me personally the only fish i think should be kept are Blue gill and Bullheads lol

  • YOU CAUGHT AND RELEASED!!!! FKN RIGHT BUDDY!!!!!!!!! People that keep (kill) Muskie are complete ignorant bastards.

  • goo
