Don't be so quick to write off Little Women, I watched that movie last year and it took my breath away. Either movie is a good choice because both contain artful direction and amazing acting.

The thing that i loved about LW is that it is at its heart a love story, a plot theme that Les Mis does not contain.

Don't know why the musical was such a tremendous hit - for 10 years - (I saw it in New York in 1998) and the movie was a horrible flop!!! I thought that teh film followed the musical pretty well!!!

I've seen the musical a few months ago! The songs are sung so beautifully, you just sit still the whole show and when it ends, the audience just explodes with cheering and applause.
