Give me this? Where can I get the 45 rpm and 16mm? I'll pay for that. This promo teases with turntables and reel-to-reels, but you pay for you 1s and 0s.
completely impossible and pointless, all of the music that is in the archive is already in the world (with the exception of the rare vids and bootlegs). the point of the archive is the interactive aspect as found in comp discs.
What in the world? A Reprise Records rep said in a Billboard article that not only the Archives set is pushed back to early 2009 (as dublinboyo said), but it's going to be available on DVD ONLY?!?!? What mess is this? "On the Beach" sounds absolutely GREAT in 24/176 DVD-Audio, why would they EVER want to limit themselves to standard DVD's maximum 24/96 when Blu-Ray's 24/192 is available??? Something's not right.
Correction: the Billboard article says "Blu-ray only". The article I read misquoted. Seems "Sugar Mountain" won't be part of the set either. More great NYA stuff to buy, in DVD! :D
Java is helping to sponsor this collection and the whole reason Neil's doing it on Blu-ray is because he said he can't do it on DVD or CD, which is why he hasn't released it years ago.
YEs the song is neil young when he was with the squires in mid 60's it's called The Sultan and he broke it out on his most recent tour this year ..I'm guessing in honor of the archives coming out .the archives should start coming out this fall will be expensive though
Only Neil knows the reasoning behind that! Don't forget -- for Neil, it's not about fans or listeners, it's about the music. Hence we have 40 years of classic, great, good and crappy stuff, depending on your tastes. Thank you Neil!
Neil feels that Blu-Ray will give him the best audio quality possible, so no more regular DVD. If I read things right, though, supposedly nothing can be copied from Blu-Ray, which means you can't have it on your MP3 player. But I'm sure there's a hacker out there somewhere working on this "problem" as we read.
I had no intention of buying a BR player, but I may just do it for this. Maybe Sony will include a discount coupon for a player with the Archives.
I'm guessing they would be hyper-paranoid about a disc copy of the Archives being stolen--hence the prerecorded presentation as stated during the session.
Like if you thought the mortal kombat song was gonna play at the beginning

Blu Ray is a bit awkward for most people. Also audio discs are more convenient for things like...audio?

lol it doesn't take a "hacker" to run a 2 dollar cable between the audio output of a blu-ray player and his soundcard.
These are going to come out on DVD anyway.
BPMead007 3 years ago
Awesome! I'll be getting a PS3 just for this... and kicking my kid off the video games to watch Neil!

it was a PlayStation 3 player that was stolen, not the presentation!
