I prefer Rich Fields over George Gray personally. I think George is a little bit dry and generic sounding. Also I don't like the way he says "come on down." It just isn't righht to my ear. Here's an interesting story about Rich I've read in that TPIR book you probably heard about: when he was 18 years old, he was in the studio audience during Johnny Olsen's warm-up, and he actually asked how he could "take his job". Johnny let him do a come on down call off camera. The crowd liked it, but Johnny apperantly pretended he didn't, for obvious reasons. XD

By taking over former Goodson-Todman shows like "The Price Is Right" and "Family Feud", they have ruined game shows, although I'll still watch TPIR because I like Drew Carey. This seems kind of interesting: Family Feud moved to Florida, Burton Richardson resigned (along with John O'Hurley) & remained in LA, then Rich Fields resigns from TPIR. The new TPIR announcers will be guests announcers only for the first part of the 39th season. There could be a possibility that Burton Richardsn will take over as permanent announcer for TPIR.

@MegastarLV I haven't heard Jeff B. Davis or Brad Sherwood be the announcer for TPIR, and JD Roberto is OK, but it's just not the same without Rich. However, it would be great if Burton Richardson does become the announcer for TPIR if Rich doesn't come back (and I have a sick feeling that will be likely). If you recall, Burton subbed for Rich and Rod Roddy and was one of the leading candidates to replace Rod when he died. Bob Barker first chose Art Sanders before choosing Rich.

This probably wasn't the first time Rich Fields actually announced for TPIR, though. I think he'd been a substitute announcer, since around 2001 or 2002. So, this was just his first day as the regular announcer.
