Spanking should only be done as a last resort. And it should NEVER be allowed back into the public school system. I witnessed CP in Las Vegas Nevada in the late 70's. Teachers can and did abuse their authority. Would you allow your next door neighbor to spank your child? Probably not, so why would you allow a teacher to do it? And "sometime" the teacher can be pretty messed up due to family problems, so they may be on a short fuse.

@catdog262 Actually, the Bible does NOT say "spare the rod and spoil the child. That quote is part of a 17th century poem by a man named Samuel Butler. There is a verse in the Scriptures, Proverbs 13:24 that mentions "sparing the rod" but it has a completly different implication than this caddy-corner "scripture".
