  • I like this version for the livelyness and the heavy reverb too it

  • sweet!!!!!

  • I love both versions by Leon and Marvin.

  • Leon's version has a dreamy mood. Your mind kind of just floats with the tune without any resistance.

  • oooohhh. this is soooo good...

  • Just found out this is from his Taste The Love album, which came out in 95. I knew this sounded too recent to be 70's material.

  • i love this original version even more, i believe, no disrespect to the great Marvin Gaye and his sublime interpretation...

  • good music

  • これをメロー・ソウルと片付けるあさましさ~マービン"I WANT YOU"の原作者~レオン・ウェアーは桃源郷!#jazzm

  • If they were basketball players. Leon would be Dr. jay & Marvin Would be Michael Jordan. Marvin was influenced by Leon's sound, and vocal style. He even too his whoooo! Lol..Marvin was supremely talented, and have the star quality that Leon Lacked, but to call Leon s biter is dead wrong! Leon wrote numerous signature Marvin songs, and Leon influenced Marvin, Marvin didn't influence Leon!

  • I see some debate here and some opinions are quite negative towards Leon Ware.

People, there is a great composer called Burt Bacharach. When he sings, he sounds like a crow with a cold. But NOONE questions Burt Bacharach's great contribution to musical history. And fact is Leon Ware was the (co-) composer/writer of quite some classics of Marvin. Please give credit where credit's due.

  • People need to do their homework before posting. Let's not debate and just appreciate.

  • Okay, whoever thinks this dude is in the same league as Marvin Gaye, needs a psyche evaluation. Even Marvin Gaye's shitty songs (and yes, he had some shitty songs "Here my Dear" album or anything around the time of his divorce and drug abuse problem.), were great Leon Ware was only a producer and couldn't hold a candle to Marvin vocally. Marvin Gaye was a great song writer and producer as well. So get your facts together before you say 'It's a shame Leon Ware was overshadowed by Marvin Gaye. "

  • @randiddle68 i agree but only b/c leon was doing that smooth jaz thing with his vocals. marvin was diffrent. honestly this song is way ahaed of its time, it sound like it's from the 90's. two diffrent styles but great singer non the less

  • @randiddle68 Apparently you don't know your musical history. Leon wrote the entire "I Want You" album, and it was HIS decision to allow Marvin to record HIS material, and he also produced and did the background vocals and instrumentation. Sad when folks open their mouthes without knowing facts.

  • @DustySoulLtd An argument that rages on and on. I love both of them but it is sad that Leon never got the acclaim he no doubt deserved. I saw Leon live at the Jazz Cafe a while back but sadly never got to see Marvin.

  • amazing...i almost like this version better than the original, that breakdown gets me every time, right around 4:08 the song gets serious as hell

  • this is sick, insane.....love it

  • If It had not been for Berry Gordy hearing what leon was about to record and suggested to let Marvin record it! His popularity would be limited! Marvin recording this, Putting hisPassion stamp on it, ~and he stamped it! put Leon in the public eye big time,he also wrote for many others including Minnie Ripperton. Romantic tunes is what he's all about!~

  • go leon!!! i love it. sounds like it was made in the 90's

  • both versions are prime!

    thanks for adding this!

  • Loving this version, were can i get this? it's not on the album.

  • @soulsistervibesuk It's called "Comfort." There's a remastered version of the album on Amazon that includes this track.

  • I want to Be Lover!!!!!

  • i love this....

  • Just enjoy the moment :) Lovely choice.

  • It stinks that some people accuse Leon Ware of stealing from the I Want You album when he's the one who created the songs for it. Marvin's version of this song does justice to it though, and I guess that' s what all producers want at the end of the day. But it's cool to know he could sing this well too, and this was pretty revolutionary for the time.

  • Leon has had a lot of comparisons with Marvin - shame for him because Marvin was so great. I think Leon would have been elevated higher in his own right had he not had that burdon to bare. I am a bit frustrated with his music as it seems that you really have to pick out the better tracks from sometimes very average offerings.

Seen him live at the Jazz cafe, London... very smooth!
