@JBLover4Ever600 Yep, jello is basically hydrolysed collagen from skin/hides/tissues/tendons, ect. You really don't want hooves when making gelatin because they contain keratin, which is hard and brittle. (It's what your fingernails/hair is made of).

In a way it's a very clever and useful/functional method of recycling waste products. Amazing what can be done with a protein.

Gelatin is not made from skins or any of that sort what they mean by extracted is when the bones of veal or cows are boiled and the water is reduced(evaporate) gelatin is what is left. ever seen a soup or broth/stock when its cold or the day after it was made? its usually thicker and the whitish stuff floating on top is part of the gelatin with grease from the soup/broth. same thing. its all natural. the thick gelatinousness part that is left is dried then grounded into what we know as gelatin

Sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong. Traditional Jello is made from cow bones, but modern day jello is made from sugar and flavouring. I'm vegetarian, and I eat Jello. Gelatin is totally different, it is used for meat jellies and things like that, but nobody really uses cow bones anymore. Jello at the store is vegetarian friendly for sure.
