  • Absolutely Brilliant!

  • Yes, people in ancient times died of tooth infections very often indeed. As your teeth were crucial to your survival, if you lost them, you were basically a gonner (although some tribes do display behaviour of beneficial mastication). Also, any infections usually spread very quickly (no anti-biotics) and humans back then already had a poor diet for several months of a year (in temperate regions) thereby lowering immune response. Most died of septicemia. A painful and horrible way to die.

  • @metrx330 Ps: septicemia caused by tooth infections entering the bloodstream.

  • IT WAS GEORGE DUBYA BUSH!

  • fucking brilliant. thanks for posting.

  • haha. you cut off the boo!!!

  • This is a good video against theistic macroevolutionists who hold to heresy both because they buy into unobservable, unfalsifiable, and thus unscientific macroevolution, and because they want to conform.

  • Christopher doesn't understand the bible and misleads people that are eager to probe the non existence of a god reveled to men.

  • I've heard Hitchens say a few times that people died 'of the teeth' or of their teeth... Is this an expression or is he saying they died due to dental problems or disease? I think it's the latter, but a quick google search didn't turn up anything about historical mortality due to dental issues. Thanks in advance:)

Great video by the way, this is one of his best opening statements in my opinion.

  • @RuinOrPeace You can die from a tooth infection or tooth abscess, as he says in the this video the teeth are close the brain and the infection can spread to the brain and kill you. Plus I imagine it would be very difficult for "cave men" to eat enough with no teeth.

  • Where can I find a link to the image at 2:29? Would really like to know because it is too blurry for me to read, thanks!

  • Taoism is a religion that isn't against human sexuality, in fact, they consider it enriching, however what Taoism advocates, unlike monotheistic religions, is not abstinence but rather moderation in indulgence.

  • @sickness324 Taoism isnt really a religion though, its a way of life isnt it? Action through no action, wu wei and balance?

  • @moroney1 Yeah. It's pretty much a philosophy.

  • organized religion is a sinister system of control using propaganda (i.e. lies), fear, and psychological manipulation to keep the poor in their place, created and maintained by the elite

  • Hitchens = Chuck Norris of reason

  • Utterly superb speech, as ever, from Mr Hitchens. He, probably more than Dawkins, mirrors what I feel about religion. It is something for another age, a bygone time and we need to let go of it and move on before it does us any more harm.

  • @TRUNDLETHOR

What is very often missed for a theist, they ignore the basic fundamental debate practice that the burden of proof is put on them. If I made the bold statement that a Panda god-thing made everything the burden of proof is on me, until I can make some substancial proof then no one needs to attempt to disprove me, I would just look like a fool

By the way, when Athiests rip Christianity they do not take it as all religion - Islam, Hinduism, Judaism are all crazy. Sorry 4 bad english

  • This video is very well put together. Good job! Striking images!

  • anyone know where I can find the image of 2:29 ?

  • @PrincepsNemesis just google "religion maps" it was a suggested image

  • @TRUNDLETHOR

Are you agnostic about the sun rising tomorrow? Are you agnostic about other minds existing? Undoubtedly you are not. You're very close to solipsism if you require absolute certainty to hold a belief.

The disbelief in God isn't the same as believing God doesn't exist, once you see that distinction you'll call yourself atheist too.

  • @TRUNDLETHOR You are quite ridiculous in your beliefs about atheism.

That's what happen when you are used to have ridiculous beliefs, you stop seeing the ridiculousness.

  • @TRUNDLETHOR That was quite a spectacular exhibition of a profound misunderstanding of the definition of "atheist".

  • Let us conserve our strengths to pick fights with people useful.

  • religion has, since its inception been the greatest threat to humanity and progress. from the early religious persecutions to the crusades to the atrocities of hitler, stalin and other state religions, and now the threat of islamic fundamentalism, religion is humanity's failing. we must rise above it.

  • Blair tapes his ears to the side of his head do to the drag coefficient .

If he didn't he would actually move backwards cause they're so big .

  • When Hitchens meets Blair on November 25th (?) in Canada, how on earth is Blair going to counter this?

  • The way he says it, I wouldnt believe it either. Humans have only been here for 6000yrs- We have all of the geneologies. If Jesus would have came to china, Hitchens would have a reason why that was not a good place. The Jewish people were chosen to be Gods witnessess, cause he had to choose someone. So of course that is where the messiah would be born.

Eternal salvation and Grace is offered to you to Christopher, but noone will make you accept it.

  • @brandisify civilization has existed for 6000yr.. Homo sapiens sapiens (modern Human) have lived longer

  • @brandisify all molecular and dna dating and fossil evidence shows that homo sapiens have been on the earth for at least 250,000 years, and that the first forms of civilisation started with the agricultural age approx 10000 years ago.

  • @brandisify - pffft! hahaha! I think Mr. Hitchens and indeed all atheists would rather keep their rationality, their capacity for logic thought and reason, and ultimately our inquiring minds regarding our species and the world and cosmos around us.

You can keep your CONCEPTS of 'eternal salvation' and 'grace' and stick 'em up your arse!

  • stop taking away rights from my gay bros and sisters in name of god. stop flying planes into buildings and stop blowing yourself up. we secular humanists just want peace for us and our children and the greatest threat to peace in 2010 is bullshit religion. Stop believing myths and start being intellectually honest. the 12th century is far over, so step into the new millenia w the rest of us.

  • Our brains, which art in our heads, treasured be thy names. Thy reasoning come. The best you can do be done on earth as it is. Give us this day new insight to resolve conflicts and ease pain. And lead us not into supernatural explanations, deliver us from denial of logic. For thine is the kingdom of reason, and even though thy powers are limited, and you’re not always glorious, you are the best evolutionary adaptation we have for helping this earth now and forever and ever. So be it.

  • @jakahn6661 hahaha now thats a prayer i can get behind haha. my fellow rationalists i applaud this!

  • Nah. Metaphysics is merely a branch of philosophy. Where science needs to debunk the parts of philosophy that are patently false, it does so. Where science needs to accept the fundamental principles of philosophy that intend to explain things and appears to fail, science says "we need more facts". And where science needs to accept the apparent truths of philosophy based on acceptable facts, it wholeheartedly does so. Likewise, Atheism consistently does the same in regards to philosophy.

  • nonsense..

  • @LovingKimiKatkar - *sigh*... where do we start with this one, my fellow atheists? Oh fuck it, I can't be bothered so I'm just gonna thumbs-down the cunt.

  • "Name me one religion that isn't disgusted by our own sexuality" Okay: Hinduism. In fact, most eastern religions celebrate sex as the creator of life. They don't revile it as Hitchens would want you to believe

  • @AjaPuppy An exeption to the 'rule' does not negate that his point is generally correct of the major most influential religions.

  • @AjaPuppy

Hindus commonly silo their widows away from society in commune type arrangements. This subjugates the women in this society to being subordinate to men. I would not say that this is NOT terribly respectful of females whom it would seem are of no use except for propagation and avoided and really shunned after their husband's demise.

  • There have been natural events that ancient man thought were miracles. Such as the first born were killed by an angry god being. Actually it was a volcanic vent causing a toxic iron oxide gas which exphistiated the young. They were kept on the ground floor as babys. Thats why they died by the low toxic cloud. Please excuse the spelling errors.

  • Thanks great video

  • I love the way I go onto these video's on youtube and everytime I scroll down there's some christian's arguing on behalf of their ego and self esteem. The fact you are even on this video shows how vulnerable you are without your bullshit faith, but then to go and create pointless laughable beef really says it all. Im guessing it feels horrible learning the fallacies in your faith. Bless.

  • Brilliant. I've said that religion sprouted to give comfort from things we could not, at the time, understand.

When it was found what a great tool it was to control or rule populations, then it became sinister.

Now we have 'the church' in Cali', which donated the largest to defeating Prop 8, yet NO ONE called them on their tax-exempt status of 'separation of church and state?

Wars, hate, murder, genocide... All in "god's name"

Frightening that people still believe this nonsense.

  • Christopher Hitchens is truly a genious. Thanks for opening my eyes

  • I loved these 2 videos. Thanks for sharing!

  • Ummm he doesn't read much does he? Greek, Roman, Summarian, Babylonian, Buddhist (outside of China and Tibet), Celtic/Gaelic etc.... all had a much healthier relationship to sex. For the most part only monotheists get bent out of shape about sex. Sure the D.L. is ignorant towards gays, but the majority of Theravada Buddhists have no issues with "sin" and sex. His view point seems so slanted as to be at risk for falling over. That all said he is wonderfully entertaining to see on Fox News.

  • His point is salient in that half the world - indeed more than half if you include Hinduism - adheres to religions that are not friendly to sex. The "3 Majors" have a lot of serious problems with sex, and the repression of it seen in the world is a direct result of those religions, though Judaism has marginally less to answer for in this regard. But the religions you cite are comparatively insignificant to the others in terms of proliferation, which is why he makes the point as he does.

  • @GenericUser19xx His point is twisting. If RELIGION causes X then all religions must cause X. Otherwise you have to say "Some" or "Abrahamic" or you are twisting the truth. I agree that Abrahamists and Hindus are sexist and have sex issues. That isn't the same as all religion having issues with sex. It isn't.

  • You are correct only to the point of useless technicality. The point here, for our discussion, is that whether specific religions are pliant on sex or not is of little consequence. Most anyone that is religious adheres to one that is not pliant on sex. Sikhs are like Xians when it comes to sex. Even the Romans had fits of anti-sex regulation in their pagan worship. The number of sex-open religions pales in comparison to even the number of denominations of a single other major religion.

  • Further, CH is playing to the local audience. He can't possibly distill every single exception within the span of his given time. And to do so would be meaningless because few people ascribe to those cases, even fewer are aware such cases exist, and still fewer will be inclined to try. His point stands when entires sections of continents adhere to very sex-averse proselytization that is causing far more suffering than it would ever prevent.

  • You maybe arguing something tangential to my point, and in doing so try to shift me to argue a point that I don't care to make. Not ALL religions have a virgin birth. Not all hate gays. Not all say bad things about women, or sex. So to say "RELIGION" does X is a false statement. If you are arguing against any other point you are addressing your messages to the wrong person.

  • well illustrated

  • Hitch rocks!!!

    right on brother!

  • I wish this were available for download.

  • blacklookingglass

Thank you for such great work. I'm going to show this to my class next semester.

    God bless atheism

  • *sings* "when you wish upon a God, makes no difference, you're a clod"

  • We've always been what we are told through Media, and Religion which=making us sheep.

  • I'm a fan of Hitchens but I don't get the problem with the dirt thing, the bible got that one right, we are made of "star stuff" (ie: dirt + water).

  • The Bible doesn't talk about dirt as in atoms from the big bang, the star stuff to which Sagan refers in his work. The Bible says we are from dirt as analogy to "filth and sin."

At least that is the argument Hitchens makes. A theist could try to say, "Yeah, the Bible says we're from dirt, man. That got confirmed by science and stuff because of atoms and such like." Except the Bible doesn't talk about bacteria, disease, atoms, etc.

  • brilliant videos! Thanks BlackLookingGlass, keep up the good work.

  • That's nothing, Quezalcoatl thinks I'm gorgeous

  • I hope you at least make him wear a condom!

  • thats because i tip him well after he mows my grass.

  • good thing Gods existance doesnt hinge on our understanding of him eh

I would say his existence certainly does hinge on our belief, or really, construction of him.

  • if you have "god" on your side why would you need such a tremendous speaker?

  • sorry for the wait man i didnt know you could easily monitor responses to your comments until very recently. you dont need tremendous speakers, as only God can change a mans heart, but i cant say there isnt a correlation between the enthusiasm of a converted individual and the skill and fervor of a preacher. all credit should be given to God but still, at the same time he tells us to be enthusiastic for a reason and the results are usually beneficial

  • sure..until a holy war get started, abortion clinic gets bombed, building gets crashed into, population gets massacred, social group gets oppressed, etc....but yea other than that religious enthusiasm is pretty beneficial.

  • Science is governed by evidence and reason.

What makes religion exempt from the limitations of human perception?

  • Philosophy/religion attempts to

    explain the metaphysical world.

  • Which is what exactly?

Religion used to claim to explain the natural world until science came along!

  • Science, fr. the Latin verb "scire" : to know

  • You are actually on to something although ppl have given you 4 thumbs down. All we have is 5 senses but all they can sense is matter and energy, at certain frequencies, then our brain tries to interpret them. Then as Einstein has said energy and matter are the same, so we only really know of one thing. From that perspective, which is as I believe reasonable, we try to understand the universe. Realize though tools (science) help us and that is all we have. Religion is not helpful it impedes.

  • You-Tubers, for the most part, operate on an elementary school level (if that). Religion attempts to explain the metaphysical world. Science (L fr. "scire": to know) is nothing more than observations filtered through the senses of the beholder {Man}.

  • Saying religion attempts to explain the metaphysical world is correct, but doesn't really mean anything. We do not know anything about the metaphysical world; not one thing. All we know is things our senses detect, and that scientific tools detect, then we interpret them. Philosophy does serve some sort of purpose, because we are really trying to think about the universe, but religion does not. Religions are stories and they directly oppose that which questions or contradicts them.

  • And who's to say there's a metaphysical world to begin with? What's there to support that assertion?

Religion's focus is to explain something that might as well not exist, through rape, pillage, genocide, war and murder?

  • Much of the physical world is imperceptible to Man, as he's physically unequipped to perceive it. A philosophy is not ambulatory and therefor unable to move about to commit crimes. People commit crimes because they have the desire to do so.

  • Renounce your religion and step into the light.

  • is there a reason this posted to me? I have no religion so there is nothing for me to renounce.

  • @LovingKimiKatkar I would re-phrase that: "Renounce Religion, and step into the Light". I don't care whether it's theistic or non-theistic, it's not God that's the problem, but religion. I have as much of an issue with Objectivism (Ayn Rand's atheistic religion) as I do with Christianity or Islam.

  • @jjgdenisrobert : The problem is "atheism" as it denies metaphysics.

  • and wee all know how god is concerned with dying children.

  • "God must take his eyes off dying children"

Wait, are you suggesting God can't watch me and the children at the same time? I thought he was omnipotent? And why is he merely watching dying children? Why isn't he doing something to help them?

The kind of rationalizations you have to make, the mental hoops you much jump through, to preserve your clownishly ridiculous beliefs, are painfully obvious to an outside observer. I'm embarrassed that so many of my species are bamboozled by this nonsense.

  • You know I'm an atheist and I was being sarcastic right? Or did you just reflexively post to me because like a monkey you saw the 10 red thumbs downs from theists and decided to abuse someone you perceived as weak and feeble of mind?

I thought better of you, but like most of this populace you are guilty of emotional thinking and not intellectual thought....

  • "did you just reflexively post"

No, I posted because you didn't quote who you were responding to and YouTube's threading sucks, so it looked like you were responding to the video. It was in no way obvious that it was sarcasm.

You were the only one guilty of an emotional, thoughtless response. Several people made the same mistake and you didn't figure it out. You're also a hypocrite, chastising me for "abusing" someone just as you were in the comment I responded to.

    Learn to think.

  • so it's my fault you cant read....got it. i would however assume as an atheist you would have recognized the statemet as one on Zomgrits and her very well put together videos.

Now will we continue to wave our dicks at one another or can we get past this and continue to educate the theist asshole we both detest?

    Up to you.

  • "you cant read...."

No, you're an intellectually lazy moron. Attempting sarcasm via text, you posted a snarky response to an atheist video. You provided absolutely no context (stupidly relying on YouTube's threading system to do that for you, despite the obvious failure of that system) so it looked like you were responding to the video.

You were then utterly mystified by the responses you got, and apparently STILL ARE, even after having it explained to you. Embarrassing.

  • ok so i offered you an out to end this nonsense and you have chosen to be a child....fuck off and ignored forever your worse then debating a christain and thats pretty sad...

  • one more this if you go to veiw all comments and scroll down you'll see a grey indent bar by my name if you scoll up you'll see I was replying to Lovingkimikatar..... this feature putt all the comments into context and allows you to see if i was posting to some one of just posting to a video...uh oh (so maybe you have less of an understanding how the site works then I do.

Now try that little option out and see if my comment makes sense. So who does not understand how things work here?

  • "i offered you an out"

First of all, you're the only one who wants "an out", because you know you're wrong. Second, your "out" began with "you cant read". This is the second time you've been mystified by a reasonable response to your comments. Stupid much?

"if you go to veiw all comments"

That isn't where I read your comment, dipshit. I read it here, below the video, where there's rarely any indication of threading.

"who does not understand how things work here?"

    Clearly you.

  • just can't admit to being wrong can you?

it's ok I have no dog in this fight enjoy solo masturbation.

  • "just can't admit to being wrong can you?"

    Let's see:

    (1) You left a snarky, theist-like comment beneath an atheist video, expecting everyone watching the video to click "view all comments" to see it in context and discover it was sarcasm, then were confused by the responses even after it was explained to you.

    (2) You told someone they "can't read" as a peace offering, then were indignant when it was rejected.

You're either profoundly stupid or have a major personality defect.

  • weak you take down non postive non ass kissing comments on your page...you are worse then a christian....

    fear is a bitch.

  • "weak you take down non postive non ass kissing comments on your page"

No, I take down comments when people try to pull a debate away from it's context, to hide from their abject failure. If you actually looked at my comments you'd see there ARE negative ones which I left. I don't see any such comments on your page. Project much?

The whole chain of communication supporting my argument is HERE. Trying to run away from that is cowardly and disingenuous. Again, you fail.

  • Please explain. I think we would all love to hear your reasoning behind your comment.

  • What does atheism or nontheism have to do with literacy or test scores?

  • LOL. You're a funny man.

  • Religion is a big and well connected industry. Plus, it does provide consolations to many, mainly to its placebo effect for what it worth.

I, personally, gave up on idea to expose religious fallacy in a debate to my religious opponent. It's just not possible, when religiosity sets in one's brain - common sense leaves. It's not an exaggeration either, any of Hitchens debates prooves my point. Sad but true.

  • Hitchens is right - period. It's not a rocket science - the facts and logical conclusions speak for themselves.

On the other hand, the prevalent part of polulation, at least in the US, is not ready to accept it for whatever reason, such as milleniums of brainwashing, social and cultural status quo, or just basic fear of death,. We just have to be patient. It doesn't look like complete conversion to atheism is going to happen in our lifetime.

  • You're right didate, curing the population of the mindvirus *is* a big task, and likely to take more than a generation, but good progress has already been made, and the healing will accelerate as time goes on, since there is always a substantial portion of any cultural, religious or other movement whom adhere simply to belong. When _those_ people feel free to choose reason and free thought over unreason and exploitable credulity, they can help disinfect each other of religious delusions.

  • Fascinating and well argued stuff.

  • Morals are not irrational. Superstitions are. Morals (such as those of eastern religions) do not go hand in hand with superstition. They are often found together, and that has been quite a problem for mankind. Morals, ethics, and basic social order are not solely within the periphery of religion.

  • Yes; but I fail to see how a mere tool (I.E. Science) could be construed in this way.

Equally as much, I fail to see how basic, moral behaviors can only be derived from religion. One does not know right from wrong without religious guidance? What does that say?

This suggests social chaos without religion, or it's influences. I, however don't think religion is the source of moral guidance. Socially, it is rather self-evident. By positively reinforced cooperation we ensure our mutual survival.

  • "Is it really so incompatible with Darwin to imagine that one person might believe that they personally have superior genetics to another?"

It's not incompatible with any belief system, save perhaps Zen Buddhists, to believe that you are superior to another. What does that have to do with Darwin? Evolution is not an ideology, it is a fact of nature.

  • epic video. eeeeppppiiiiiccccc.

  • I fail to see how the unifying theory of biology can be considered "pseudoscience" ... when it provided cross-confirmations, reciprocation between disciplines, and routine applicable predictions. It is more utilitarian that most widely accepted theories of physics.

I can say easily that it is the most -hated- theory in all of science. That much is obvious.

  • Not quite. Evolution doesn't operate on strength, or superiority. The word "fittest" doesn't mean 'strongest,' it means most suited to the circumstance. In biology, we have learned it is often a totally unexpected quality. Nature is so diverse, it is rather difficult to tell which traits will ultimately provide an advantage. We often know only in retrospect.

Have you studied what the theory actually says in itself?

I hope you're not asking due to Ben Stein's ridiculously ignorant movie.

  • Of course, but scientific theories make no such social / racial statements. They foster in their conception no such intent. In this way, their misuse is not causal-- not due anything the theory states.

These abhorrent initiatives occur due to a person or group's racism, with which they have select science-based ideas to justify their prejudices.

People will also highlight religious excerpts to prop up their racist perceptions, in exactly the same way. I.E. "God hates fags."

  • As the theory neither states nor implies these terrible things, the psychological architecture of it shows the arbitrary selection of ideas which can be represented as justification. Arbitrary, not causal.

The human mind is capable of twisting almost anything to suit it's perceptions of the world, biased as the may be. Using good ideas to rationalize terrible things. As the saying goes-- 'Even the devil may quote scripture...'

  • Great video. What a great God everyone believes in:) I guess if you don't tell yourself the facts, you can believe in anything.

  • Hitchens is fucking brilliant..

..and obviously, to me, quite correct.

  • Religious people are all stupid!!

  • Go Hitchens ! Tear religion a new one !

  • I've used this example on many people. It really is a great example and Hitchens is fucking excellent. A great orator, pundit, Journalist and above all MAN! He SAYS WHAT HE THINKS AND FEELS IS RIGHT! He puts the media in America to shame.

I hope he lives until 900 plus years like Adam in the Bible, ha.

  • one of the best questions I can think of asking anyone who says they believe in god is...What's the difference between your god and an imaginary god? They can't differentiate between the two.

  • People are still trying to set themselves up as high priests. Take Thom Hartmann for example. He claims he didn't get a vasectomy because voices led him to believe he should have one more child.

  • Great video, the images really help this sink in more.

  • You sound like an imbecile. Please post a link to some information regarding Christopher Hitchens and "darwinist eugenics" and prove me wrong.. I await your response.

  • Darwin did not support eugenics... Can we see the "Darwin eugenics" link also?

  • Eugenics came from Lamarck-ian genetics, not Darwin. It is remembered in the modern day for it's shoddy science, & it's racist and socially abhorrent initiatives. Luckily, NOBODY believes that crap anymore !

You will not find a racist scientist, nor a racist educated person. Anthropologists and geneticists see that our genes unite us as one species, as brothers and sisters across the globe.

To continue perpetuating Eugenics as though it represents science is ignorant and disingenuous.

  • Thanks for putting this up.

  • Excellent analysis! Notice how the new age priests like Thom Hartman are against athiests because they are evangilistic, yet they preach compasion, seeing the spirtitual in nature, etc. They are just trying to aquire power as priests in the empire. I read this once: " i hope to see the last priest stranggled to death with the guts of the last king". Appolgies for not remmembering the author.

  • heya Sciuser10.

Denis Diderot said:"Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."

  • Thanks. We must come out of denial about class warfare. Here in the USA we have two parties representing the rich, and none representing the rest of us.

  • " i hope to see the last priest stranggled to death with the guts of the last king". Appolgies for not remmembering the author.

    the author was lennin

  • the quote is generally attributed to Jeam Meslier a catholic priest whom upon his death it was discovered that he had written a 633 page essay condemning religion and the church it seems that he was a lifelong atheist. There are those who believe that the quote is a bastardization of a similar quote by Denis Diderot: And his hands would plait the priests entrails, / For want of a rope, to strangle kings.

  • Christianity is an extremely confusing belief system. It survived and is (or was) "Practiced" only because it became the belief system exclusive for White European Dominance -- colonialism, crusades, slavery etc. Thats why Jesus is still thought of as a white Guy in many of your minds

  • So what color are real Jews ?

  • Bravo.

    That was a good speech.

Though I personally prefer the first part...

  • II'm not atheist but I do love the speech...

I do beleive Ihave a soul I do think in sciencetfic views. I could care less were I came from to me it is were Iam going to me that, is important.

  • Do we not best understand the future by studying the past?

  • Into the ground? To dust? Thinking otherwise undermines the meaning of your one and only experience on this earth.

  • Standard cult procedure really. To indoctrinate followers, to really brainwash them into becoming like a related slave, first break them down (you're sinful and every natural urge you have is wrong) then build them up (but if you do as we say you'll be perfect and live forever in perfectland).

  • Comment removed

  • Big fan of Hitchens. His rhetorical technique would rattle any debate opponent: "There isn't a thinking person in this room..." Beautiful.

  • Brilliant and resounding. Bravo.

  • There is a god...it is hitchens

  • BRAVO!!!!

  • hitches can sure bang with words.

  • excellent ending. the ultimate nonsense of one being a flawed, sinful, shameful creature deserving of death, yet the centre of the universe and of god's interest... love through death, love through sacrifice, love through pain, love through fear of eternal punishment... love your enemy... love what you hate or fear, love whatever hurts you and threatens you... has the word 'love' ever been used in a humane sense in christianity? i have recently started to regard religious people as mentally ill.

  • On the money. perfectly stated.

  • "i have recently started to regard religious people as mentally ill."

Spot on analysis. You got there a month before me. It reminds of the joke: "Eat shit, ten billion flies can't be wrong"

  • Send me some of your religious facts. religionfactreport(dotcom)

  • Hey Obama actually mentioned "nonbelievers" in his inaugural address!

  • Another piece of history. First US president to to suggest that you can be a non-believer and still be accepted as an American.

  • Hitchens is Great. god, not so much.

  • Martyr457, is your post a joke? You can't spell and you can't construct a sentence. It makes absolutely no sense lol. I really hope you're just kidding, for your sake.
