I've been wondering, when you first make the Top 12, how do you pick your sing off songs incase you end up in the Bottom 2?

Like do you just pick one for the time being and have to quickly pick another if you survive a sing off, or do you like pick several and list them in order of preference? I know you can only choose songs from a list that X factor has rights to, right?
