I never saw this one but I saw the sing-alongs as a kid. GOD I loved those, this is good, but I love those better, plus in my opinion, it had better voices for Professor Owl and Birdy Birdbrain (never knew that was his name).
Bertie Birdbrain looks like Chicken Joe from Surf's Up.. Or more like Chicken Joe looks a lot like Bertie Birdbrain! Love this cartoon <3 Brings back wonderful memories.

Wait, whats the problem with singing about parades?!?!?! She said "NEVER SING ABOUT PARADES!" WHY?!?! I've been wondering that for years! Is it a joke? If it is...I don't get it...
@Blossomadorable She said "brains", not "parades". The joke is that, as a smart bookish girl, she resents songs being written about beauty, but not brains.
i wish disney could show these shorts they are so funny. Much better than the crap that they show on tv these days. i mean really GET A CLUE kids want to see more cartoons not stupid shows they should show more cartoons like, fishhooks you know bring back the old school disney catoonns.
I showed this to my sister and just half way through she said that this was boring and that she didn't want to watch it anymore. My sister has no sense of humor.
i really miss the old disney,...it has made almost everything on what i had during my childhood,...now i am just unfortunate to know that my 8 year old sister mainly focused on some cheap, cliche' crap were a winey ass teenage pop star just live the hell of whatever life she has
I remember watching this when I was a little kid! I loved Professor Owl! I think I watched Disney's Dumbo before watching this...I forgot...too long ago.
Apparently, this was the very first cartoon every filmed in 3D. Released on May 10, 1953, for the "3D Jamboree" at Disneyland. But, I'm not surprised that it was the first of it's kind. Leave it to Walt, (or should I say, his studio) to be the pioneers of film/ animation exploration.
Oops, late correction, it was released on May 28, 1953. I must have mistaken it for "Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom's" release date, which was on November 10, 1953. I always get the two mixed up. 0.o
The Disney Sing Long Videos were from the start of the 90's lol VHS isnt all that old-- at least that's how I feel. 1953 - when this cartoon was made - now that's "the past" LOL
Yes. He also did Prince Phillip's father in Sleeping Beauty, the ranger of Brownstone National Park, Mr. Smee from Peter Pan, an I can't remember the other ones at this time.
I use to watch these characters in the "Disney Sing-A-Long Songs" videos. They literally take the footage from this & change the words. This is so weird for me to see this, 'cause I thought that they were just from the Sing-A-Long videos.
You are correct! Now a days people rather criticize and find negativity in things (and people), instead of looking at the big picture, from the kids point of view....it's a shame....isn't?

thadus232 2 years ago 2
Love these Disney "infotainment" short footages. Very clever. The music is outstanding.
The only very slight criticism I could make is that Disney provided a sugar coated image of the world to children, all too often creating false hopes.
But then again: it is not the responisbility of a company like Disney to tell us "it's aggressive out there, not all your dreams will come true".
Anyway: I deeply admire the timeless work involved here.

It was then in 1986-1997 that they used clips from "Melody" and "Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom" for the VHS series, "Disney's Sing-Along Songs."

I think you meant 1986-1998, not 1986-1997.

Nope. The Disney Sing-Alongs lasted from 1986-1997. Look it up on wikipedia.
johnnyv418 2 years ago
This is the best disney short I've ever seen.
Why haven't they made any full feature films which are nearly this appealing visually, is beyond me.

This is the original Professor Owl appearance, which means this is earlier than the Sing Along videos that have these characters.
This cartoon and Toot Whistle Plunk and Boom are both from 1953, while the SAS videos with these characters started in 1986.
