hmm, yes, a beautiful song and yes, 'wrecking ball' is a special album; incredible lyrics on that album. . . hmm. . I would love to work with a producer with such heart and soul as daniel lanois~
Beautiful Daniel....I appreciate his sense of putting his truth into his music for us. Pretty open about the baser tones of life. Do you hear his soul crying out... So natural a sound. This man is a good seasoned artist.
My introduction to Daniel was when we used one of his tunes on an episode of Northern Exposure, about a thousand years ago. Lanois, what a brilliant cat!
We? Dude, if you were involved in any way in the production of that show (the greatest of all time, IMO), I'd like to take this opportunity to THANK YOU tremendously for instiling such a brilliant music sense in it!
You are welcome. I notice that people either loved the show a lot or hated it. Seems to be about 90% of the people really loved it. It was my favorite gig, and quite unique in the industry to have a show where the entire cast & crew loves the show. We'd all watch the broadcast together on Monday nights if we were shooting late. Being on the set and watching it was surreal. I always hoped they make a feature film from the show. peace, HM
@HunterMann Northern Exposure is one of my favourite early 90's show. John Corbett owes his career to that show. I was so into it.Darren Burrows as Ed Chigliak was the most interesting of all the great characters on it, followed by Holling Vinceur. They aired a stint of it here in Norway last year. Thanks for all your work on the music side Hunter.
@TherseusIV Oh, I didn't work on the music selections/programming, I was in the lighting department. Of course I recall the filming of the episode the Daniel Lanois song was on. Also, that song is on the Northern Exposure cassette tape which featured the theme song and musical selections that were used on the show, including Etta James' "At Last". There were several cast members whose careers did quite well after that. I think the casting for the show was very good, and superb writing!
@N1naMar1e Thanks for the comment! There's a long list of productions I've worked on that I am not proud off(dozens of junk food commercials, fake reality shows like The Bachelor, mediocre movies like Howard The Duck and The Caveman. I rarely brag about TV shows or films I've worked on, but Northern Exposure was indeed an excellent show. I find that people who know the show loved it. I really wonder how that show would do right on TV, considering current low-brow of TV writing.
Listening to Daniel Lanois is never just listening to a song, its an atmospheric experience ! Awesome. :-)

Pretty cool that Qtv can do all these camera angles for what's fundamentally a radio show. Well, I guess it's not just audio anymore!
