you can't go wrong with Joel's dry sarcasm, and a usually darker tone (little billy/jimmy at the worlds fair short comes to mind "a shot rings out" "visions of the mekong delta flash before his eyes" "the drugs from the chemical wonderland begin to kick in")

Yet for some reason i prefer Mikes goofballness, maybe its just cause he got a lot bigger chunk of the perfectly rippable movies. and rifftrax is fucking hilarious as well

I love Joel and Mike pretty much equally (though I probably have a slight preference to Mike since when I first fell in love with the MST3K, he was the one hosting at that point).

Yeah, he is totally the "Dad figure," what with being the 'bots creator and all. That's what makes his occassional, usually subtle dirty comments even funnier. Mike is more like a brother or frat brother, a peer to the bots. Can you tell I think too much about crap like this? I should repeat to myself it's just a show and really just relax.

a) he has a more deadpan style of acting, refreshing for those of us who found Joel a bit "gee shucks" at times. But I'd never go Joel = not funny. It's not a zero-sum game, you don't have to gratuitously slam one performer simply because you prefer another.
