If you want a British blue just for a pet you can get one for about 100-150$. But the breeders are much more expensive.

Well, it depends on which breeder you buy the British Shorthair. Some breeders cost $700-$800 and the place I'm getting it from a breeder and it cost $1200 for a male. Make sure you do your research and checkout all the breeders. Ask a lot of questions. Not all breeders are good.

hello. i have fallen in love with BSH for a long time but we read it doesnt want to be carried and it´s called four legged on the floor cat but it does have a sweet temperament. Is it true that BSH aren´t lap cats? my husband loves exotics and he got me one blue and very handsome,and i can´t complain because he´s adorable. but someday i still want to have a BSH lilac or blue.

yes well my british shorthair is a house cat, he is so calm cute, and friendly, our whole family loves him to bits.. they do jump onto your lap and sit with you and want a nice pet, but they have a dense coat so they get hot and move when its to hot for them,, but they will always sit with you, if u are in the living room watching tv he will come in and sit with you.. they follow you everywhere literally.. and yes you can pick them up , i pick mine up everyday and give him a cuddle.

when u get him pick him up once a day until he wants to be put down, it will let u know by slowly squirm out your arms, but just make sure he feels sucure, cause all they are worried about is being to hot, and falling cause they are very big heavy cats.. but they are so friendly their temprement and intelligence is perfect...

i would agree british shorthair is not a lap cat.. by this i mean comparing it normal cats non pedigree.. they sit and fall alseep on your lap.. but BSH have dense coats so if you call them over they will happily jump onto your lap.. but only for as long as they can handle cause we do give off alot of body heat and it gets to hot for them,, thats all really,,, it not that they dont like it. they love company and love to spend time siiting beside you and curling up next to you.

thank you for explaining this to me. you know i really love BSH cats. i love my exotic too but it won´t hurt to give him company now would it? so it´s because of the cat. exotics do that too..sometimes they squirm out of my arms..maybe because of the heat. but these two cats are wonderful. and though costly pedigree cats are worth it. thanks sir for your explanation. hope u can educate me more!

Trust me, that's very individual. Me and my family thought so too, but our little kitten really is a lap cat and he loves being carried :) And yes, they're really sweet...they want to be as near you as possible..:) My cat even jumps up on my dad's back when we eat because he wants to see what we do :) I definately think you should get a BSH.
