those were the days you wish you could stay young fore ever well done johnny best wishes.i wish i looked like him when i was a kid id have every girl in town lol lol lol
I remember this song very well...it was the real epitomy of life in many small towns across USA and Canada...it represents all the innocence we have put aside for promisuious promise.......
His singing talents started on the Mickey Mouse Club, but he was "dismissed" due to him not being able to dance. His singing was highlighted on the final season of the 'Rifleman' when he was strumming his guitar and singing to his sweet...just before they went into quicksand.
@hushketty As strange as it may seem, I remember Johnny Crawford like I do Elvis..anyway I never heard this song myself until i got my laptop. I bought Daydreams, So Goes the Story, Your Loves Growing, Treasure, Patti Anne, Something Special & Cindy's Birthday, so I know what I'm talking about & I never heard of this Girl Next Door but I did hear of The Boy Next Door(oh yes), by The Secrets. Johnny was also the kid on Rifleman, but more popular for all those hits I mentioned & then some, Thx

This song was written by David Gates (of "Bread" fame). Good to hear someone other than David doing a good job of singing it! :)
