I hang in my Garage, Shirts on Hangers on a 3 Clothes lines my Hubby put in there for me. Towels I fold a 1/3 over the line. I dry in the Summer in my Garage cuz I don't want the Sun to Fade my Clothes. Sometimes I do hv to Fluff in Dryer about 10-15mins
Wow love this video. I know sometimes things get a little stiff by being line dried , but it's easily remedied, Just hang to dry and after dry do a tumble in the dryer for a few minutes. It really softens things up.
When i was young, I used to hang out all of our clothing, because we didn't have a dryer. I don't do that, anymore. The clothes come out really stiff..most have to be ironed. A much better alternative would be to hang the clothing on plastic hangers & either hang them to dry on the shower rod, or get a device where you can hang them from door to door. Also, if you hang your clothes outside in the sun, they do fade a lot. I hang pants over the plastic hangers, by the waistband. :)
You end up with a pucker on the pant hem, where it shows( most noticable on flared pants & skirts & thinner fabrics).
If you hang them by the waist, there's enough "structure" in the waistband that you don't usually even get a mark.(In any case the belt would totally hide it if you did get a pucker.)
"shirts upside-down" & "pants & skirts from the waistband" gives the neatest results.
Never knew about the spacers, good idea. Also when I hang out shirts I hang them on plastic hangers and then clip them to the line. When dry, gather the hangers, no folding. Saves some time.
OMG how lucky we are here in Australia. I am fortunate enough to have a terrific hills hoist in my backyard with room to spare. There is something so satisfying about watching your freshly washed laundry fanning about in the breeze, catching the sunrays and sending a fresh scent through the air. Its so green clean and heaps cheaper. All you need is two posts or two trees and a bit of rope and you've got yourself a line. Happy hanging.
Where have all the clotheslines gone? Would love to have one, however, my love, my life, my wife would rather a clothes dryer! Please note, I never post anything about my wife without her knowing about it :)
I am seriously impressed with your tips and line drying suggestions. I think this video is fabulous...I may link to it on my blog and reference back to it later, if you dont mind.
Excellent video & instruction. I am going to get a drying rack to put out some of my laundry. I never thought about what theat dryer lint was! I'm all for preserving the clothes that I have and actually fit.
we live in an apartment, so line drying outside is completely verboten...i do dry on a rack inside when i can, but i'd love to have a little more room to be able to do it more often. great tutorial!! :)
You learn somethin' new everyday--I never knew what those spacers were for until now, although it seems so obvious once I think about it... Love the tip about concealing unmentionables from the neighbors too!

Wow, I did not know that about the lint. I just thought it was the bad kind of lint that no one wants on their clothing :(

It's possible to hang the clothes on the shower curtain rod indoors to prevent rain damage or theft. :) Keep them spaced about an inch or two apart.
