  • dude your hihat sounds like shit lol...sorry i had to say it! Great drumming though!

  • I HATE YOUR HI-HAT!!!!!......... Do somethin' about that for your own sake. I've watched many of your vids. You're very impressive. Keep up the great work! I'm sure Mr. Peart is flattered.

  • Excellent playing, totally doing justice to Peart. : )

  • Well done indeed... I think my only minor note would be to ease up on the snare bounces during the chorus. Though, that being said, I don't have nearly the skill to play at your level, just what I'm hearing. :) Cheers, and keep up the excellent work... do you take requests? I'd like to see La Villa Strangiato!

  • I love this song!! Especially the guitar!! wa du wap wap wa du wap wap wa du wapp!

  • Great job! That ride cymbal looks awesome by the way, and sounds great too.

  • Great Job! Can I give this 10 stars? I can't even come close to playing this song, and probably never will. Your fills may not be exact, but so what? Still sounds great, and your timing is impeccable!

  • also i love the fil at 3:08

  • very beautiful song! they get real funky in ROLL THER BONES album :) this ones a fav :P

  • Hehe =D

Stewart Copeland's funky, reggae, fusion ride cymbal sound fab with all these true old rock songs!

  • In your opinion what does this ride have that the Paragon didn't?

  • Great job Ray! Can you please explain the fill at 3:13...I'm close but struggling with it?

  • why don't you post a drum solo

  • Can someone please explain to me at least the basic architecture of the fill 1:19 to about 1:22? Not the fill exactly but, in general, the method of it. I cannot coordinate it because I can't figure out the sticking. ANY help is much appreciated. Thanks

  • The fill mostly 16th notes, RLRL with some of the notes ghosted and some accented (big dynamic difference between the accents and the rest of the notes) There's also a 32nd note flurry in there too. Hope that helps! (the sticking is always RLRL)

  • Oh it's always RLRL, thanks, I think I've got it now. Much appreciated!

  • great job and great sound but one question for anyone.

I heard that paiste cymbals creak easy. has anyone had a problem with that?

    thanks so much

    jake

  • Truly magnificent drumming - perfect Peart!

  • Is that Copeland's signature ride? Do you recommend it?

  • Yep, I HIGHLY recommend it! You have to like a dry, pingy ride though...

  • awesome!!!

  • YOU are a F-ing stud dirty pirate hooker! Great job!!

  • You're the reason why I keep playing drums. I use to a little bit. Now I watch at least one of your videos everyday. I updated my kit. Bought more drums and cymbals. I play for 2 hours everyday while listening to you. Thanks ray!

  • Wow. Thanks SO much! Comments like yours are why I keep posting videos here. Thank you.

  • Please do. Keep posting these awesome vids. You remind me of a good friend who used to play drums. The bald head is just like him. Great job.

  • on which record is this song

  • "Roll The Bones"

  • job well done=)

  • I swear I am watching Neil. You are just trying to trick us Ray- we know this is really Neil. Fess up now man. I wanna be a drummer!! Cryyyy!!!

  • Again can not stress how much nicer your symbol spread is now from what it was. Looks like your 8" tom is a bit tilted in compared to what other vids were, tryn something new or ..?

And your snare sounds fine, but what do you think of 4-5 inch picallo snares? Im thinking of changing for good to a 4" I just cant get over the crisp clear "POP" they seem to have over traditional snares. but amazing video as always THX

  • Thanks for the compliment! Lets see, yes my two 8" toms are slightly more tilted now (I was hitting the rims on occasion so...) I love Piccolo snares as an alternate, but wouldn't use one as a main snare ( I need more "body" in my main snare drum)

  • cud u possible post a video on how u record ur videos!

    Cheers

  • Ray, its awesome as all your vids are. Question though, where is the "grouping of four" vid you mentioned you would do in your Red Barchetta vid?

  • Thanks man! Yes, I got sidetracked, but I AM working on that now and it will be the next video posted...the fill @ 3:14 in this song uses the "4-note grouping"

  • Awesome job...love your vids and hope that you keep making more. How long did it take you to get that good. Please send me a response back..thanks...

  • Thank you! I've been playing 29 years.

  • How do you get such a great sound without mics?

and if your looking for new hi hats i think you would like Paiste sig heavy hats. Thanks

  • The Sickest looking ride ive ever seen!

    nice vid man

  • Nice drumming dude!

  • dude sick drumming

    1. did you sell your paragons?

    2. your 16" crash sounds amazing

    3. i like the stewart copeland ride! :P

    thanks

  • Thanks man!

    1. Yes

    2. Thank you

    3. Me too!!

  • Nicely done! I don't think you "didn't" practice it ha ha!. Nice improvisation.

  • Is that a 30th anniv snare drum???

  • Yes sir, it is!

  • Great to see that in HD ! Great playing sir! Great cover !

  • Thank you!

  • Ray,

Solid job as always. This might be Rush's most underrated instrumental. I absolutely love it! Pity they only played it live once during the Roll the Bones tour, because it sounds as good or better than any of the other ones.

Note for note is almost impossible - close enough is excellent! You pull it off nicely. Keep playing great stuff; I'll be watching!

  • ray, awesome cover man. ride sounds awesome im thinking of getting it. what sort of price range is it in?

  • between $330.00 and $400.00 online

  • thanks

  • another awesome video, you have so much groove and technique

  • That's a great compliment! Thanks!

  • nice job! - note for note is overrated, ha! if i thought i had to do note for note, you'd see few of my rush drum vids!

  • Thanks man! I dig your videos as well.

  • great job Ray! one of my favorite instrumentals, and you did a great job! Keep up the great videos!

  • Thanks man!

  • 3:07 kick ass!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HEY, how's that Full Crash holding up in rock settings? Does it cut it live?

    SOLID. 5/5 =)

  • Ah, funny you should ask, when I rehearse with my band (and we're progressive metal) It's a little weak...I just didn't want two 16" Power crashes, I may have to change that one to a "Heavy Full" Thanks Btw!

  • Thanks for that, I'm just wondering whether to go with the Full crashes or Heavy Fulls, I play everything.

  • "This is Pt. 4 of the "Gangster of Boats" Trilogy"

Haha part 4 of a trilogy?

  • Leave it to Neil...It was probably Alex's idea, he's the comedian in the band.

  • you got my vote on the best rush cover drummer!

  • Wow! Thanks!

  • my pleasure

  • Awesome Man, Nice playing. Playing note isn't the main thing, sometimes a personal touch is a good thing,

I can't believe how awesome the Blue Bell Ride sounds, but also looks.

I want all my cymbals to have that blue color.

  • Thank you! Yeah, I'm not gonna worry about the note-for-note thing as much...I'll be able to post more videos that way!

  • That was mind-boggling.

  • you did it u finally got the blue bell congrats

  • Yep, thanks!

  • Even though I know I'll get a blue, because I have to be like Neil AND Ray now, I'm wondering how a cymbal with the coloring applied could cut in a live situation without good miking, it seems like it would have a major muting effect. I thought overtones = volume. Oh! and Ray and fellow drummers, PLEASE stop worrying about note for note drumming! It makes me crazy! And not just because I'm not good at it! Drum on Drum Bro's.

  • Thanks Mike! (This is Mike from Facebook, right? With the S & A Snare?) You know, even with the "colorsound" coating, that thing cuts! The ping is strong enough to cut through with NO OVERTONES (the way I like it hehe) and the Bell? Wow! It cuts like a knife through butta...like a big stick of butta lol

  • dude.. i can't get over the greatness of the your new ride cymbal!!!

    very solid drumming

  • I know, I can't either! Thanks!

  • sometimes people will put a comment like "GREAT!" or "KiU(keep it up)" just so they could get first comment.

i just thought he did that..lol

  • Oh I see...lol

  • no no i mean did u got them from itunes to a web site or some thing

  • Oh, I have them all on CD, then ripped them through iTunes

  • oh thanks i got it

  • your awesome

  • Thanks man!

  • very nice.

do you have every song of Moving Pictures up yet?(not saying that this is MP)

  • Not yet, but that's a good idea!

  • hey were do u get the rush songs from i love that group

  • Uh...my iPod

  • Great drumming as always!

  • i doubt you watched it. lmao

it took me forever to get my comment perfect

  • Thank you!
