@spitnhard79 Not with my transmission. I've a full manual valve body which means I've full control of the gears. Of course, with a manual/automatic valve body you just click in the 3rd then you're in D. Be also aware that my transmission has PRN123 and not PRN321 as a stock transmission.
Thanks for the help. You were right it all was correct. I was just getting confused with mine because with me having the Gm transmission I have to shift twice out of park to get into reverse and twice back to get from reverse to park; and like with my set up I have to hit the reverse lock out to get back into neutral. Not like you do. You have to hit the reverse lock out to get into reverse from neutral. I know you probably thinking somethings wrong with mine and yeah, I agree, but... I called
What up man. Me again. I just got my pro shifter in the mail today and I like the shifter alot, but I want to ask. Did you have problems with the neutral safety switch and reverse light switch? I didn't install it yet but ad I assembled it so far the switches where they fall into the slot grooves on the inside don't seem to be in the correct place in reverse for the lights to come on or for neutral safety. Did you see or have this issue? Is your switches working properly?
@cgrobe21 Hey dude, we did not have any problem with the neutral safety switch and back up light switch. Just follow the notice and shift it hard!!!! Both switches work properly on my ride.
It's not so hard to install it, we had to trim a hole on the trans tunnel in order to clear the cable. The hardest part was to make it fit the center console.
im building a 67 mustang myself...i see you kept the center console with this shifter...did you just cut a hole big enough for this shifter to fit? im debating using my console and just cutting it to fit a shifter, or just not using a console at all
Dodgesponge, I've just got a quick question. Is there any real benefit to using the Ratchet Shifter, in terms of possible quarter mile times and performance??
I've got a '67 Mustang, that I'm building with a similar build to yours, If I saw correctly, on another one of your videos you have Edelbrock RPM Performer Package?? I'm running that with a 347 Stroker kit.
@LostInTheEssence Hi dude, I would say yes, there is a benefit because no miss shift, with the reverse shift pattern, you just need to pull it in and the next gear is engaged. I really like it and thanks to the safety, there is no way to put the rear gear. I don't do quarter mile but a friend of me has it and he said that's perfect for the 1/4 mile. In addition to this, it's a cheap shifter :-)
you're right, I've the same combo as yours except I've a 331ci, it works very well!
just installed a pro ratchet in my 1983 vh holden commodore after watching your video (im from australia).. anyway... i love it!!..looks dam sexy and tough sitting in centre console! :)
@6metal6forever6 hey mate, standard 3 speed trimatic....the tri matic was rebuilt/recod.... not very hard...took me and a mate who is pretty handy a few hours....looks fuckin tuff!...go for it!!
@6metal6forever6 hey mate...hooked up to a 3 speed trimatic which was rebuilt about 2 years ago...took me and a mate which is pretty handy a few hours.....not that hard...we fucked up cause we nedded some adaptor plate for the trimatic...looks fuckn tuff...love it...go for it dude!!!
@darokkz you're right, this will help them to sell products especially for me because I'm outside the US and I never seen this shifter before in a car parts shop...
yeah this video made my mind up but here in australia 99% of commodores with ratchet shifters are pro ratchets, but not where i live, and im going to be running a manual valve body to stop the stupid 4l60e changing into second when i do a skid and so it changes when i want it to. gets very annoying lol
Do you just put it in 3rd to drive it as a automatic?

@dodgesponge I have a TH400 with original steering colum shifter ...
Im wanting to add something on the floor as my tranny is being rebuilt now and im adding a TCI 2500stall converter .... Will this work on my tranny?
spitnhard79 1 month ago
@spitnhard79 This shifter is made for several applications including yours. To be on the safe side, check on B&M website.

@dodgesponge Thank You , I appreciate the help.

from the vid it looks like it will let you shift into neutral without flipping the switch. is it supposed to be like that?
curtmurtha 3 months ago
@curtmurtha I would say yes but with a reverse valve body (PRN123), you can't shift from 3 to N as it's at the opposite.

is this a forward or reverse pattern?
kylepoophead14 1 year ago
@kylepoophead14 Reverse. The forward shift pattern is: PRND21, on mine it's PRN123. Perfect with a ratchet shifter!
dodgesponge 1 year ago
with this shifter, would you wreak the tranny if to reved it up in neutral then droped it into first?
Draco1180 1 year ago
@Draco1180 I don't know, it could be. Have no idea. Why?
dodgesponge 1 year ago
@dodgesponge well i wana know if this shifter would give you the advantage a manual has of dumping the clutch.
Draco1180 1 year ago
@Draco1180 why not just hold the brakes and depress it for the launch? To be honnest, I don't want to try on a $2K transmission :-)
dodgesponge 1 year ago
@Draco1180 ya unfortunately the shifter doesnt matter when talking about drop shifting thats bad for the tranny no matter what
dboyinaz 1 year ago
ok i know this is probably a stupid question but do they make a manual shifter like this?
buddha073 1 year ago
@buddha073 I've seen the same kind of shifter for a Top Loader, Jerico transmissions. It depends with the manual transmission you have.
dodgesponge 1 year ago
Oi do these B&M shifters need clutches or is it exactly like automatic?
SuperBadWOG 1 year ago
@SuperBadWOG It is a shifter for an automatic transmission.
dodgesponge 1 year ago
I just bought this shifter because of this vid. I like the no nonsense ratchet action, no lever to pull or knob to lift, very cool
jcr8503 1 year ago
@jcr8503 Exactly, it's not a rocket science to get used to it.

@dodgesponge there is no put it in drive and go with this shifter right? You have to go manual,1,2,3? thanks

@8jhusk Several stickers are provided with the shifter for the differents valve bodies. I think there is one with a "D".
