I have heard this music since before I was ever born. I have heard this version, I just came from a concert at the Eglise Madelaine in Paris with the 'traditional version'. It doesn't matter - it is STILL both so dark, so sad, so joyous and so heavenly at them same time. I stared at the frescos, not the choral or quartet, and..... I understood. This music makes you WANT to die and be lifted up to heaven...
