Paradox games have this huge quality gap between those using the Clausterwitz engine and the rest. This one looks like a weak attempt at a Total War clone.
Loved the first game. The prospect of role playing in a warfare game was great fun; it was like old school text or book rpgs. Your adventures were text based, such as deciding to go into a cave or not, and facing the consequences. Success also mattered on the knight used, and the stats you gave them. The wive and feifdom systems were great and added much. Then the diplomacy and conquering your neighbors through warfare was top notch -- though I hope the actual battles are more intricate.
The key here is "what you thought". Do you even play the first one?
To answer your question, game settings has two parts, follow Christianity or Old Faith. Fighting the old fey creatures and various monsters. It's Arthurian legend , just not what youthink as such.
@Samhildenach The game is based in a fantasy world that is vagualy inspired by the arthurian legend. Characters share the same name and the places are inspired as well. However the story is pretty much independant. King Arthur 1 was awesome, it just wasn't that popular because it came from an indie developer. However I might have enjoyed it even more than the total war series.
@Sandermatt87 I Agree, I totally enjoyed the first one more than the Total War séries. And the Druid DLC was the best part by far. Great game. I wish they put more adventure quests on this sequel though.
@Samhildenach What the hell do you think made arthurian tales into arthurian legends??? two guys running at eachother with swords?? honestly the concept wouldnt be half as interesting without monsters

@Samhildenach look at game of thrones it has dragons and is set in medieval times , why does everything have to be realistic ?
Cobac 1 month ago in playlist King Arthur II
@Cobac Game of Thrones is not set in medieval times, it is a whole other world.

@TheAbruptdeath waitwut? What this even mean? Monsters made those tales legendary? Add monsters and you have a legend?
And more importantly, monsters are needed for the game to be interesting? What, it's some kind of action game?
I'm aware monsters are part of arthurian tales and I don't expect from it to be 'realistic'.
Monsters battling through the Britain along side knights, it just doesn't feel arthurian to me, thats all.

Wow, that was impressive. Looking forward to it!
