I have much love for Cutler, even as a Skins fan. He got blasted like 80+ times last year, still got to the playoffs behind that o-line and every one of those 80 times he got up. So, when he decided to take himself out, you knew he was hurt. Any other time, he never would have given up. Jay is tough as freaking nails and if anyone says different, tell them get their asses out there and do it, especially with the Type 1 diabetes. This dude is a stud!
John Madden is the man. Some current and former football players and football analysts were mean (Mark Schlereth, Maurice Jones Drew, Darnell Dockett, Deion Sanders, DeAngelo Hall for talking about him after that Redskins-Bears game). They may be good at what they do and/or used to do, but they're not good at realizing what's right to say or wrong to say.
What bothered me was because Cutler was standing on the sideline with a partial tear in his mcl, in arctic weather, he looked like it could have been a balmy 80 degrees. That means tough to all the boneheaded critics out there. Deon Sanders, and Trent Dilfer lost some of my respect as analists for their off the cuff criticism. I won't dog them too hard, but they were way off the mark here, and are teetering on Matt Millen status for the time being as far as I am concerned. GO PACKERS!!!
@ddm62571 Because Dilfer knew he was a piece of shit who shouldn't have gotten where he did. He has a ring only by the grace of f'n GOD. Let's be real.
next years madden.. jay cutlers toughness rating should be 99.. cuz no one has takin that ass whoopin he has these last 2 years.. he has no line and no big go to reciever, all the bears have is speed.. but next year i think hes back on track .. the bears should get some linemen.. and plaxico burress, vincint jackson and malcom floyed are free so yeah.. he should get what he needs.. toughest qb in the nfl no questions asked
Thank you, John Madden for shining a light on what Cutler and all people with Type 1 Diabetes deal with all day, every day. Until you live with Diabetes, be it Type 1, Type 1.5(LADA), Type 2, etc..., you can't possibly know or imagine what it's like. So, before people criticize anyone, they need to learn the facts.

@aquarianbabe And it wasn't even his decision. Lovie Smith himself said Jay wanted to go back in, but the coaches kept him out of that game.

Great stuff Mr. Madden. Cutler is the toughest Bear by far. Ever see Peyton Manning tuck it and run for a couple of hard earned yards?

Trent Dilfer, Mark Schlereth and Neon Deon Sanders need to listen to this interview. Maybe they would learn a thing or two.

John Madden's 10 year old grandson has Type 1 Diabetes. He has represented the JDRF before congress, seeking funding for diabetes research.
