  • ACK NOW I PUT INSTRAD INSTEAD OF INSTEAD!!!

  • Ack I put Liz instrad of Liza in my comment

  • I thought Liza died at the part when the hawk killed her so she could save her babies, but her babies survived and I felt sorry for the babies, but Liza got up I was sooo HAPPY I was crying when Liz got attacked but this is a special video about a mother hen saving her own chicks.

  • Awesome Job :)

  • deep fried those chicken

  • I also wanted to add, that was so kind of you to notice she needed special housing in order to successfully raise her babies. You are a good chicken dad, you pay attention to their individual needs. They all have separate personalities and you know how rough the hierarchy can be just because you pay attention to your animals. Great job!! Not many people would bother to accommodate sweet Liza.

  • Thank you for Liza's story. I only wish you would have went out when you knew the hawk was present. I had to do that At my house I would go out and make myself look as big as possible to scare it away. But wow!! What a beautiful surprise ending!!! It made me so happy!! Silkie hens, their mission in life is to raise babies and they do make the best mothers, as you said about Liza. Yay! for her!! That is something that me an an NPO I work with convey, that the chicken is anything but "chicken"

  • @followmetotheriot he didn't go out so the chickens would know what to do when a hawk comes if he wasn't watching

  • Awesome! How did you take this like a movie? Great job!

  • “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Matthew 23:36-38

  • With my chickens, the babies usually follow their mother if she runs or walks around. These ones just stay in the middle of the field.

  • @buffalobill98 Maybe Liza's chicks didn't follow her because they were bewildered by the massed flight to safety of all the other hens and their chicks and in the confusion just didn't see their mother first run for their house.

  • Love it :)

  • thank you for such a wonderful story ,my entire family enjoyed it!!

  • the reason the guy didn't do anyhting or chase the hawk away is so the chickens won't be so dependant on him.. so they will always know what to do during a predator is going to get them :)

  • the mother sacrifices herself for her babies...

    her babies die of starvation.

  • @TRaddcliff baby chickens feed themselves

  • @TRaddcliff yes they do...but they learn survival tech from their mothers. how do scratch for food etc :)

not many young last too long if they havent reach a mature enough age to be on their own.

  • @TRaddcliff

This is actually a false statement. Infant chicks can indeed live to adulthood with human intervention. They can be brought inside with a heat lamp and brooder until they are old enough to be introduced to the existing flock. They have a natural instinct to scratch and find food. They do not need a mother to teach them that. God has already put it in them. I have 3 hens that I raised from day old chicks, and they never had a "mother hen" teach them a thing.

  • Great story, I can certainly relate to this, I've seen similar events with my chickens.

  • Thank you for posting this! How wonderful! Is there a second part to the video? It seems to end pretty abruptly.

  • @WordsDoneWrite

No that was the ending of the story, but it was part of a special about Chickens.

  • thank you for sharing such a touching story.

  • my guinea pig had 3 babies. she was such a great mother! if 1 called for her she woould stop what she was doing and go to her baby. i have videos of her one youtube. if u want to c go to my channel

  • Wow!

  • that made me so upset but then happy she was alive :) i wish i could meet that amazing, brave and strong mother chicken. nice vid. :) :) :)

  • Superb vid. Superp story! 5/5.

  • cool

  • hermosa gallina!!

  • thank you for shareing this film . verry touching we can all lern so much from this .

  • Does anyone know how the final sentence ended? "And I hope to confront any situation with the grace..."

  • If you have kids they are very lucky.

  • I was reminded of my "hawk" or "hawks" and give thanks for at least one more opportunity to attempt to overcome them.

  • first of all

people who think chickens are the most cowardly animal alive are stupid

i own about 20 chickens (soon to be thirty because one is sitting) and they fiight alot

    chickens will fight with anything

not all but some, it matters which breed you have, mine is mostly game hens so i did have to worry about them losing to a hawk

chickens are the most tuff thing ever

  • A great story I really loved it. A true Mother instinct for that beautiful hen. That is why the hen is the maternal bird. And more because Mother's Day is coming up.

  • I love how this guy just sits here and watches and notices a hawk.... But doesn't instantly react.

  • @gwashington52 You can't be there 24/7, and you can't be quicker then a hawk.

  • I saw this on PBS a few years ago. Get's me everytime! Thanks for posting this

  • They are adorable, great video I am so happy dont eat chicken for many many years and will never do it again.

  • This is an awesome video - I love it and I love chickens - a really great uplifting video! Thanks so much for sharing it!

  • i think the farmer should have come out a little bit early

  • I don't think I can ever eat another chicken again after watching this video.

  • what a nice video!!

  • It has been 7 years since I saw this on TV, and several times I have tried to find it again. Finally succeded. Thanks a bunch for sharing.

Realism and religion aside, it's still a touching story.

  • Beautiful story....Thank you :))

  • happens alot om my friends farm....those chickens are pretty cool

  • i've had chickens for 2-3 years. This just changed my whole outlook on everything. I started to cry also.

  • No wonder Prussia (a character from Hetalia) keeps a baby chicken near him! XD

  • is this fake? i mean a story?

  • @molinobeer

No it really happened. I read it too.

  • you my friend are a great man

  • i have 6 hens and they are all very brave and smart great animals

  • This is such a high impact message I just have to put this on my websites!

  • Aw so cute i almost lost chicks to a hawk but my rhod island red rooster killed the hawk but why because he alwaysed meanly peecked them yet he didnt after the hawk was dead.

  • Those chickens are great actors.

  • is it true and i got five chickens yesterday

  • if im in that situation, im kick the hawks ass

  • i watched this vidd like 10 times already

  • I would have been outside with my .22 rifle before the hawk struck and sent it to meet God personally. An experienced bird owner knows the sounds of his flock. Roosters sound an alarm when a hawk is around.

ps: Chickens don't sacrifice their lives for their chicks. If they did, the chicks would die pronto with no mother. Nice little God-story but it's just that.........a story. :)

  • this video is beautiful.. except for the fact that the reader thinks god is real

  • This story was very touching! Iloved the fact that Liza was very determined to hatch her very own chicks. I thought the writer/narrator did a wonderful job making this story very interesting. Thanks for that update!!! By the way, all of your chickens were beautiful... Write back soon~

  • what a beatifull story !!! I recomend this to those who don't care about life , you need more than courage to defend life, to defend happines , no mater what we should figth for life and goals . even chiken defend their lives .

  • I love this video. Whoever thinks chickens are stupid is stupid

  • THAT CHIKEN TANKED THAT HAWK@@@ BEASTT SON!!! LOLOLOL!! great story!

  • I love this story, beautfully filmed and it really shows to everyone the selfness nature of the humble chicken.

  • aww it made me cry. chickens are really amazing animals.

  • I have been trying to find the online version of this forever! Thanks :)

  • Thankyou so much for sharing this :)
