@MetalHead420100 I'm sorry to say, but Steve Flynn is sadly going in the direction of deathcore, even the new Atheist album has elements of deathcore. It breaks my heart to admit it but Steve Flynn seems like hes trying pick up new fans that listen to bands like dilinger escape plan. His days of progressive jazz fusion are over it would seem.
@CWA12 ya. i didn't like that deathcore sound in atheist new album(still have to listen to it more), but ya. maybe they're just trying a new direction. its would be very hard no matter how skilled of a musician you are, to recapture the gold like their previous works.
True, it's 3/4 of Atheist current line-up, which up to nowadays is only a "live" line-up though. I mean only the drummer participated in Atheist's studio albums so the connection between the 2 bands is not THAT huge. Of course despite that, their style is very similar :-)
The vocals, while I don't think they're bad at all, if anything, remind me of those of The Dillinger Escape Plan...I suppose..

The music is really good, but the vocalist is awful.
I don't know why they would ruin such fantastic songs with a singer that more or less sounds like the guy from Killswitch Engage.
