  • Quality stuff. I've seen you say that boxing was your real love. It's a shame you didn't get to do more in the game. What was your amateur record and what did you achieve? They said you reached the ABA final???

  • Hi, yeah i enjoyed my boxing more than the TV stuff, i won the Scools, NABC'S and the Junior ABA'S as well as the various regional stuff on the way to those titles, lee.

  • My mistake - it was Paul I saw at the pub, not Kevin (they look alike though). Great fight....you were a determined little bugger there - well deserved to win that one! Now back to more GH clips!!!! Take care mate.

  • cheers for your comment, this was my toughest fight and it was really close, if you ever see Kevin say hi to him for me, cheers lee.

  • Having a great time catching up on the old Grange Hill clips here....and was happy to find this clip too. I went to the same youth club as Hocko and saw him recently in the local pub when I went home for a visit. Congrats on the new addition to your family Lee.

cheers again for that pukka comment, lee.

  • tis' my honor....best wishes!!!

  • PS

I've been there mate and I know how tedious it can be waiting but it's worth it in the end.

  • Wow Lee. I couldn't resist opening the beers early. I had counted on the birth happening tonight and now it's almost 5am (4th June)and I'm puggled. We even had a toast on your behalf tonight at the pub. I'll just do it all over again on Wednesday if needs be.

  • congrats 2 u both. trust all is well and enjoy

parenthood as much as i have

  • Well todays the day Lee old chap. The nerves must be kicking in by now. I've got the beers chillin' in the fridge just waiting for the news of Harry's arrival. Good luck to you both today.

  • thank you so much I'm so nervous but cant wait, cheers for your mail and defo keeps them beers cool, lee.

  • Hi Lee, just dropped by to see if Harry had made an appearance yet. A week late eh? I know it's a personal thing but just out of curiosity are the docs help bring Harry into the world soon... if he doesn't come himself? Jeez he's just like Zammmo, late on his first day.

  • hi, still no sign of the little bugger yet lol

the latest will be tue if hes still not here then the hospital will do the rest, im so excited and ill keep you posted, cheers lee.

  • no news yet Lee? Hope all's well.

  • hi, NO NEWS YET!!! harry was due on thur 22nd and its now 27th and still no harry!!! As the skool dayz thing it was great fun but we didnt choose any of the tunes but just did the links, nothing planned at the moment as everything on hold for baby, hope you had a good bank holiday, lee.

  • Hi again Lee. Just thought I'd mention that I caught the Zammo and Rolands Skool Dayz thing on the HITS channel. That sure brought back a lot of fond memories from my schooldays too... apart from Baltimore and Five Star argh. You doing anymore projects like that soon?

  • Thanks for the reply Lee, the vid seems to be back now but last night I was getting a message saying it had been removed. All's good. You really were a tough opponent. Great fight.

  • what happened to the video Lee? Has it been taken down?

  • hi, yes i will defo let you know when born and yes im expecting some abuse from the mrs lol, i think the vid is still on but let me know if your having trouble seeing it, cheers lee

  • Good luck with the birth Lee. Won't be long now. I had no idea you knew it was going to be a boy. Word of warning if you're attending the birth... prepare to be strangled and called every name under the sun by the mrs. It's all part of the fun mate. Take care. Don't forget to let us know when the baby comes. Best wishes from all at The Big Shop bar in Glenboig, Scotland.

  • I just stumbled across this video, but I seem to remember you on a chat show talking about an injury that stopped you boxing a few years back. I can see why that bothered you because you were talented. I was impressed with the head movement, handspeed and sharp left hooks. Thanks for the vid. I never seen much amateur boxing on TV when I was a kid, but that was a great fight. I hope you're still a keen boxing fan. Good luck!

  • thanks for the nice comment, i was gutted to finish boxing through an accident but these things happen and i still follow boxing now, me and my wife are expecting our first child in a week and its a boy so im sure ill be taking him to a local gym at some point lol, cheers lee.

  • nifty footwork !! I bet you're well proud of this mate...And our Henry saying how good you were!! Awesome.

  • hi, yeah i love this video as all my family are in it too, cheers for the comment, lee.

  • That was a really good fight.

    Well done Zammo :)

  • cheers for the comment shaun, also i won best boxer that night too, lee.

  • Flippin' Heck, that was great!!

  • cheers for the comment, it was so nice to have all my family there too! as my dad was in my corner, lee.

  • Hi Lee, great fight, thanks for posting it. Hope you find more footage in that attic. Is Kevin the son of Paul Hodkinson, the world champ from Liverpool?

  • hi yes kevin was the brother of paul, cheers for the comment, lee.

  • good stuff....i wonder whatever happened of your oppenent lee, and whatever happened to gripper stebson, i believe the kid who plyed him became homeless, always thought that he was a good actor..typecast 2 early perhaps.

  • hi, not sure what happened to kevin (my opponent) but im sure ill find him on facebook lol

yeah gripper did have a bit of a problem with his landlord but i have no contact with him anymore so not quite sure, he was a really good actor but yes he did get typecast, cheers for the comment, lee.

  • Just joined your myspace Lee, geeat pics mate. What was Mike Tyson like in person? I'd also like to ask, was Justin's Bring Back Grange Hill reunion show really as impromptu as they portray it to be?

    Barni

  • cheers for the comment, i met mike at a presentation at my my boxing club way back in the eighties, (i was late and he was in my chair) he was a really nice guy and had time for everyone..............

  • ............ as for bring back grange hill, i was the first one they interviewed and i genuinely had no idea they were coming or what was going on once they were in the shop, i just thought what the hell lets do it, but once my bit was filmed then there were lots of phone calls between the cast and from then on it was a tad set up, cheers for your comment, lee.

  • Hello Lee , any joy on the chessington zoo episode . Adam

  • not yet adam, im going to have to have a blitz in my mums attic very soon, ill let you know as soon as i get it mate, lee.

  • who was your mum tellin to shush? lol

  • lol, its my younger brother "danny" shouting down its funny my mum telling him to shush while henry is trying to interview her, lee.

  • ignore my question about Henry Cooper I just watched again and saw him lol

  • Hi, to be honest i dont really have an all time hero but was a big fan of sugar ray leonard along with, hagler and hearns also i loved the fights with benn, eubank and watson. I also used to follow the tyson fights!

I think a one off show would be great fun to do and im sure most would be up for it, i know i would be! cheers for your mail, lee.

  • yeh it was a shame what happened to Michael Watson. One of the hazards of boxing I know. At least with a child on the way Lee it's perhaps a blessing in disguise that you didn't continue what can potetially be a physically damaging career.

  • hi, you are probably right but to be honest if we have a boy and he wants to box i think ill let him, lee. ps am so excited about the arrival of baby :)

  • yeh I'm a dad myself Lee and if you're anything like me be sure to have the kleenex handy when the time comes. I remember arriving at the hospital and I was so nervous. The midwife said to me "is this the first baby?" I said "No! This is the father". lol I'm joking of course. Be sure to let us know when the baby comes.

  • Lee it would be graet to see a spin off (even after all these years) starring Zammo, Ziggy and Roland. Loads of others ex cast members could make guest appearances. Even a one off would be great. Along the lines of Tuckers Luck but set in the present day. It could be set around Zammo's 4oth birthday or weddng or something. A good reason for the cast to be reunited. Is that Henry Cooper doing the commentary and who is your all time boxing hero?

  • Lee have you ever been locked out and had to actually call another locksmith? That would be funny. Tell me this why is Phil Redmonds' shows all getting axed? Grange Hill was fab and Broookside but they're dead and buried now.

  • hi, no i havnt been locked out but while i was away filming my wife left her keys indoors and had to call my locksmith to get her back in.

To be honest i think GH has had its day i think that for it to be realistic it would have to be shown late at night because of all the gang, knife crime and bullying going on in comprehensive schools today which is quite sad, cheers for the mail, lee.

  • PS

Do you vist Scotland much Lee?

  • i love Scotland and have been to many parts i have worked in Edinburgh during the festival and did a panto in Stirling also my friend got married in Scotland a couple of years ago, lee.

  • hello Lee, it's a shame your boxing career didn't work out, judging by the video you would have done pretty well. I remember you saying in an interview that you looked on acting in Grange Hill as fun while at school. Have you got the bug for it again? Would you do a program like I'm A Celebrity? Could you handle bushtuckertrials like eating fish eyes? Personally I think you would win a show like that hands down.

  • hi, thank you for your comments, you are so right i did want to box and GH was just something i did during my teenage years, funny you should say about the jungle as i was on the ant and dec show on saturday and did mention it to them! hope you are well, lee.

  • Lee that is awesome. You seem to be getting a lot of TV exposure these days which is great. Zammo was such an icon from that era. Good luck with I'ma celebrity. Good luck with the kangaroos testicles mate :)

  • not sure about the kangaroo testicles! lol, but would be great fun to do it and the tv stuff that im doing at present is such good fun, hope your having a good week, lee.

  • kingsbury high school. .. is in kingsbury .....lol.. erm it was years back im 99% sure it was filmed there btw its bout 5 miles from wembley ..

  • hi, what a twat of course its in kingsbury lol ill check with erkan (roland) later but i think your right! though not sure of i did any filming there, lee.

  • Grange Hill was the tops,i pass your shop mate nearly everyday, always take a quick peek to see if your outside,we do have a mutual friend i believe as we did meet once in a guilford nightclub!all the best mate.Dan

  • hi dan who is the mutual friend? if you need your keys sorting pop into the shop as im usually about, cheers lee.

  • Thanks mate ,bound to need a key cut sooner or later. His name is vernon and he is a dj.Good on you thanks for the reply.

  • can u tell me if grangehill was ever filmed at kingsbury highscool lee???

  • where exactly is that school? to be honest it does ring a bell, what year were you thinking? before we moved to elstree in the mid eighties we did film in various schools around london, lee.

  • It's such a shame that a car accident put a stop to his ambition. He was really, really good in this clip.

  • cheers for your comment i was proper gutted after the accident coz i so wanted to turn pro i may have never made it but now ill never know, lee mac.

  • hello lee. good luck with Eastenders i had a few friends that were in it , long ago though. Adam

  • Hi Lee, good to see you in action in the ring. Do you still keep in touch with any particular members of the cast Of Grange Hill? I think you'd be great in Eastenders.

  • hi, the only one who i keep in touch with is erkan (roland) as we still do some tv stuff together as with eastenders that would be right up my street, im just about to do a mail out to casting directors so i may give them a call, cheers for your mail, lee mac.

  • Nice work Zammo, great fight. What was that thing dangling on your back?

Will be cracking to see extra episodes as well!!

  • that was a really good fight.well impressed

  • cheers thanks for your comment, lee mac.

  • crackin fight.

  • crackin fight mate well done

  • When did you hang the gloves up and how well did you do?

  • hi, as an amature i won the schools, nabc's and the junior aba's also boxed for london, i was about to turn pro when i was 21 but had a very serious car accident in which 2 people died and i was left with severe head injuries and was told i would never be able to box again! cheers for your comment, lee mac.

  • thanks for your kind comment, lee mac.

  • Hi Lee. have you any more vids of the grange hill days love to see them on here. AD

  • hi adam, once i get them from my mum's attic i will put some more on here, i want to get the chessington zoo episode as its my favourite one, have a good weekend, cheers lee mac.

  • looking forward to seeing that episode cheers lee. have a great evening . AD

  • hi lee. you a lock smith now east London.. Adam

  • hi adam, well surrey now but i used to work in clerkenwell, lee

  • hi lee. in the grange hill days i was a pro bmx guy from 79 till 1989 and also went around the world best days of my life never will forget it like grange hill absolutely fantastic . i use to live in London now in west of Ireland and love it here but still miss London if you were ever to visit west of Ireland you are very welcome here. Adam and family

  • hi adam, thank you so much for your mail, i love ireland and would love to take up your offer but i think im going to be a bit busy as we have our first child due in may, but say hello to all your family for me, cheers lee mac.

  • no worries lee give give me a shout when and if you decide to pop over to the green side. congratulations on your may new arrival hope all goes well for your wife and you. take care . .. Adam

  • morning, god i also watched the show night and i looked more like roland than he did! but since then i have been to the gym and lost 2 but still need to loose a bit more lol thank you for your mail, cheers lee mac.

  • Also just watched it again on CH4, Lee where can you get that 'just say no' tee?

  • hi, they got them from ebay and to be honest i have got a roly one in the wardrode, sad eh? lol, cheers lee mac.

  • Im watching that now on C4 - Hes a top fella that lee mac, and very friendly in his video replies - that says a lot about him. Well done Lee

  • hi, cheers for the mail it was great to meet up with everyone but as i said in my last comment i looked like bloody roly lol, cheers lee mac.

  • quality boxing there lee

    i`m well impressed

do you still follow boxing in anyway

  • hi, cheers for the comment, to be honest even when i was fighting i didnt really follow the sport but i did watch the big fights and really enjoyed them such as benn, eubanks, watson, tyson, sugar ray, hagler and hearns i just dont think the quality is out there at the moment, hope your having a good week, cheers lee mac.

  • Thanks for the quick reply Lee. Great that you are a fan. Come see us at the forum sometime. We have members ranging from Sir Norman Wisdom OBE to Stan Laurels 80 year old daughter Lois.

Do you still have a big interest in boxing? Are you involved in the sport in any way?

  • hi, i will check out your forum tomorrow have you got a link for me? also don't really follow boxing anymore but do watch the big pro fights, lee mac.

  • hi Lee, I will private message you the link so as not to spam your page

  • Re your boxing video, I always knew you were a boxer but didn't realise this footage existed. Thanks for posting it. Oh and by the way, I'm a big Laurel and Hardy fan too, I run the official forum, tell me... are you a fan of them?

  • hi, thank you so much for the lovely comment, i found this video in my mum's loft and just had to put it on here, im a big fan of laurel and hardy as is everyone i know, cheers lee mac.

  • hi Lee, great to see you online. Last I saw you was on 'Bring Back Grange Hill'. It was great to see how you guys are doing. I remember the first episode of Grange Hill and loved the Tucker years but the Zammo years were when Grange Hill was established and the storylines HAD to be stronger to equal or better the Tucker years. It worked. Your era on the show was equally as good if not better. Hope alls going well for you.

  • well I was looking for a "I can Help you Roland" clip to use in my latest video and never thought I'm come across this, ahhh the wonders of YouTube! Yours was indeed a golden era of Grange Hill, I'm 36 now (although it's possible that depending your age evryone think's theirs was the best era)

  • hi cheers for your mail, your right about each era although i still think tuckers years were the best, lee mac.

  • ahh well I thought best not to mention that because I remember series 1 as well, Benny, Alan and Tucker, those were indeed the days

  • I used to know a girl who claimed to go to school with you her name was Sarah Innes but she reckoned that you went to a school near Moorfields Hospital, is this true? She did tell me that you weren't there very much as you were a boxer and something about the telly lol, take care mate you were and are a legend of Grange Hill. Will they be bring out the box sets from series 5-12 (my era)?.

  • hi, she is spot on as i used to go to Moorfields primary school near the hospital my teacher was Mr Moore then i went to Central Foundation boy's School at old Street roundabout but i dont remember a girl called sarah innes but it was a long time ago lol, i really hope they bring series 5-12 on to dvd, all the best and thanks for the mail, Lee Mac.

  • Bloody hell Lee that was one hell of a fight and you really can have a scrap. a great boxing display. Look forward to meeting with you at the film all the best. Tony Longhurst

  • cheers tony, cant wait till the 12th all the best lee mac.

  • its ace

  • hi julian, cheers for your mail.

  • Terrific fight Lee, you should be very proud of this. Thanks for posting.

  • thanks for your great comment, cheers lee mac.

  • Hey Lee

You were like a mini Tyson, always going forward, did you ever think about going pro.?

  • hi, i was going to turn pro but due to a car accident i couldn't box anymore, thanks for your mail, lee mac.

  • Hello Lee.

This brings back memories, My family use to follow Am Boxing when you were giving it a good go. Weve met a few times MANY YEARS AGO. My brother was a good AM Boxer and even captained Liverpool in One of Henry Coopers Show (Andy Murphy) Its good to see your doing well and I wish you the best of Luck in the future mate..

  • hi, i remember andy and he was a top class boxer, thanks for your mail, cheers lee mac.

  • well done Lee...it takes guts to get into the ring. Were you more or less nervous before a fight compared with going in front of the Grange Hill cameras? What club did you box for? By the way, this clip is listed in the 'Clip Joint' section on back page of sports supplement in today's Guardian Newspaper (7th Feb.)

  • hi, your right about being nervous, every time i got into the ring i was so nervous you wouldn't believe but didn't really get nervous doing G.H. as it was all pre-recorded. I used to box for Lion Boy's Club in Hoxton, London and my dad (roy) was my trainer. I not familiar with "clip joint" what is that? cheers for your comment, lee mac.

  • Hi Lee, "clip joint" is a section in the Guardian where they recommend sports-related video clips that are posted on the Internet..I trained for a while at Lion gym back in mid-1990's, good gym too. Charlie Magri used to be there a lot. Cheers

  • Hi Lee, Great seeing You on the BBC Breakfast Today. Glad You're doing O.K.

    Take Care

    Kev (Bristol)

  • hi kev, it was great to see Gwyneth Powell (mrs McCluskey) as i have not seen her for about 20 years, cheers for the mail, lee mac.

  • Thanks Lee, Also Congratulations on getting Married and Your Little one on the way.

Also been watching Your Sky TV Programme,Good luck with all that
