Before I decide this, I reeeaaaally want a Sheltie, but my folkes will only accept a dog that can be bathed in "the sink" like my Chihuahua. So far my past two dogs, Basset Hound & Rat Terrior, and they detested it. So I am paranoid that the next dog (Sheltie hopefully) will hate getting a bath. How is a Sheltie bathing/grooming in comarisen to a Chihuahua?

Thats anal glands. They are glands just inside the dogs butt. Sometimes they collect fluid from defication and need to be what is called expressed.

If your giving your dog a bath every couple of months I would still use shampoo.

what if the dog likes to swim a lot in the lake? :) you have to give it a bath, otherwise dog smells :(

We have 2 shih tzu dogs and we bath them about every 2-3 weeks is that bad.

Is excessive bathing bad?? When my dashound is stinky I don't let him sleep in my bed. Besides the shampoo, what else can I use to condition the skin of my dog after I give him a bath?

Too much bathing will dry your dog's coat out. There are a lot of great conditioners for dogs. I would recommend contacting my buddy Wes Murph at TheStudlyPooch dot com.

He is an awesome groomer and knows a lot more about this stuff than I do.
