That's not what "living on its own" means. If you sat a baby down in the middle of a crib for an hour or two, it would still be alive. It is functioning on its own, nothing is taking care of its internal homeostasis. However, rip a fetus out of a woman, sit it in that same crib, and it will die within seconds.

I watched this video because it was embedded in a webpage I was browsing, so I figured it was somehow related to the topic of the article. I don't go out and purposely find pro-life videos. Also, fetuses and newborns aren't the same. And I already stated that a newborn is alive, because they can survive on its own. And a fetus that could survive if on its own (perhaps 6.5-8 months into the pregnancy) is alive.

An eight month old fetus, I would classify as alive. If it were born that early, it might be able to survive. A two month old fetus? Hell no. Without that cord pumping in delicious oxygen and nutrients, it'd be deader than all those chicken eggs you eat without remorse at the grocery store.

I believe the youngest born baby was somewhere around six months, and I'm sure it did not live long. However, just breathing doesn't fit the bill for life.

@KittyRokher PLEASE! there have been babies born at 5, and sometimes even 4 months that have survived, and even the ones born earlier came out alive for a little while. my brother was born at about 6 months, and he has no issues of any sort. He is perfectly fine. And no, sperm and eggs are future children. An unborn baby is alive! And they don't only breath. they hear, they move around, suck their thumbs, dream, and they even make faces. If they aren't human than neither is a one day old baby.

Also, fetuses and newborns aren't the same. And I already stated that a newborn is alive, because they can survive on its own. And a fetus that could survive if on its own (perhaps 6.5-8 months into the pregnancy) is alive.
