The goalposts have been at the back of the end zone and the extra 10 yards have been included in the field goal length since 1974. Kicking the ball from the 50 is a 60 yard field goal. Kicking from your own 49 is a 61 yard field goal. Just try to find a field goal less than 17 yards since the early 70's
