  • LOL I wasn't expecting that ending, superb

  • 13:13 does anyone know what the name of this track is.

I just gotta get it its awesome.

  • Lol Divine Sealing! xD

  • I thought you were gonna put Ikaruga. It's very unnique

  • Great video, as always! Man that gold bar on the side of the Jaguar version of Raiden is HIDEOUS. M.U.S.H.A. easy? Maybe I was just being a perfectionist, trying to one-credit it or something. It's been a while, but I remember that game kicking my butt.

  • How could you!!! TRUE gamers would have it. You are not retro proper.

  • You missed the FM Towns Marty version of Raiden.

  • Layer Section/Galactic Attack is also known as "Rayforce" in US arcade vernacular, and it retains the title on Taito Legends 2

  • If you didn't say Soldier Blade was a part of the Star Soldier series, I would have guessed it to be a Compile game (the "SC" in the corner, speed selection, and the power down one level after getting hit)

  • Raiden 1 ? *LOL* Raiden 1 is average, Raiden 2 is good, but Do Don Pachi kicks both Ass, in every way.

  • Thanks for showing a bit of the Lynx in this vid!

About the Raiden-port for Lynx: It´s not really messed up, it´s not finished. The title screen mentions the CES. That´s because development was stopped after that show, so Raiden on Lynx is essentially a beta. It was picked up for after market sales by Telegames. I am not even sure the game has an ending, some say it crashes after stage 4.

With the Lynx having an active fan community, unfinished games are occasionally released to this day.

  • @MrGameSack-what's Super Raiden, for the PC Engine CD, like??

  • @dave4shmups Same as the HuCard but with an extra level or two (I believe) and some arranged music. The arranged music is alright, not horrible, not amazing.

  • @dave4shmups It has 2 extra stages (9 & 10), complete with new stage graphics, music tracks, enemies and bosses. The remixed music is awesome, with stage 9 and 10 themes being my favorite. Also SR is slightly easier than the Hucard version, but the new levels are very hard. I would highly recommend it to people who can appreciate raiden.

  • That music at 5:13... What´s the name of that song? Great vid, as always. Thanx

  • @mazze84 Try to Star, I believe.

  • @MrGameSack Thank you, good sir. Btw, M.U.S.H.A is awesome!

  • @MrGameSack Checked that out, great tune... but nope :P

  • @mazze84 Slash Fighter, maybe. Hard to remember but it's from Life Force.

  • Layer Section/ Galactic Attack was also released for the Windows 95 PC, and it features enhanced graphics, but an old 3dfx video card is required, otherwise it will look the same as the consoles versions.

  • Heyyyyyy wait a second... Divine Sealing is just as expensive as Musha!

  • Best part of the week is when you guys post your vids!:)

  • @aslejoh Thanks! Best part of the week for me is reading comments like this!

  • Sorry I meant doing. lol

  • Have you guys considered donig let's plays??? Now that would be fun to watch

  • @teamextremerite1 Let's Play? You mean Wii Play? I haven't heard of Let's Play

  • @tetrisdave Shows what you know (which isn't much). You're my least favorite viewer so I don't mind being stern with you. Let's Play is basically a style of video. For example, if there was a video called "Let's Play Technocop" it would be a video of us live-feeding Technocop into the computer as we played it, unedited with us talking over it as we played. Basically it is like the audience is sitting in the room with us. Now get back down in the basement, you!

  • @MrGameSack So.... Have you considered it, it would be really fun to watch and you guys may get more subscribers from doing Let's Plays. Just think about it. :]

  • @teamextremerite1 I would consider it. I just don't think Joe is witty enough and his dialogue would come off as an absolute snore fest. But I'm willing to give him a try if he's willing.

  • @tetrisdave We could do it and it would make for a fairly easy episode. I'd just have to figure out the technical details on HOW to do it. I want to do it better than everyone else. I don't want to use a cheap computer microphone. I wonder if I still have my old sound mixer somewhere.

  • Respond to this video... Technocop? Ewww. Why would we do that? Let's try it with a fun game.

  • will you guys do a video on classic RPG's please?

  • @TemplarZK Possibly some day we might. That one will take along time to get some good video footage.

  • Joe's face at the end is priceless.

Also, RayStorm FTW. It's one of the only reasons I bought Taito Legends 2 on the PS2.

  • What's the deal with Seibu Kaihatsu? How come they only made one decent game series and then kind of disappeared into obscurity?

  • @shaurz They made a few decent games, though they were all called "Raiden" or "Raiden Fighters".

  • Oh man, I didn't know Raiden arcade respawns you where you die. That would make it so much easier.

  • RayStorm is still called RayStorm in Japan on the Playstation, it's just the Saturn version which is called Layer Section 2.

  • I would love to see you guys cut your teeth on image fight! It could be a fun way to show how teh PCE blew the famicom away!!

  • Why has there been no love for Touhou Project

  • Another great episode, guys. But why not mention the lack of autofire in the Jaguar version of Raiden?

And the soundtrack to Raiden IV is pure bliss!

  • @KollisionBR There's no decent autofire in the Lynx version, either. But anyway usually autofire isn't fast enough for me so I pound the buttons rapidly except in the cases like the PS version where it is plenty fast. As a result, the Jag version ends up being really hard but nowhere near as difficult as the dreaded Lynx version. You literally need to lay the Lynx on your leg as you play since it must be orientated vertically in order to fire at any decent speed.

  • What about a shooter on rails episode?

  • @cuklg We'll eventually get to that. If not, feel free to remind us! :)

  • Why are there no related videos...

  • With that game after the credits, I wonder what his wife thought about those "graphics."

  • If shipping wouldn't rape us sideways, i'd send you the X68000 and FM Towns to review.

  • @robivy64 No kidding, right? Move to Denver already!

  • I've been meaning to add Galactic Attack to my Saturn collection for a while now. Nice overview!

  • galactic tit lol

  • Great video as always. I'm a big fan of this show!

  • @cityside75 Thanks!! We appreciate that.

  • Haha Galactic Attack was the best that you guys mentioned! Way better than Raystorm!

  • haha "well, we're not really friends, more business acquiescence." You guys rule.

  • Yes Raiden IV is very nice, you should also pick up Raiden Fighters for 360, it has 3 games in one for 15$

  • @AceEbb77 It does... because they're the same game. I thought Gunlock (or Galactic Attack) was the predecessor to Raystorm, but I was too lazy to put two and two together in my head.

  • Hehe, I immediately thought Joe would choose MUSHA, so my reaction was similar to Dave's, but I'm surprised it was him and not Joe who took it as his fave game of the video.

  • you guys need to be on retroware tv :)

  • Shooters month was great. Wonder what the December theme from you guys is going to be?

    Christmas and Christmas related?

  • Gunlock is also a pretty fantastic game that includes the same "lock-on" mechanic as Galactic Attack and Raystorm.

    Good selection this time.

  • @catsniffingmania Gunlock's title screen looks just like Galactic Attack's.

  • Hi will you be covering more jaguar games? I know the jaguar is a joke to alot of people, but it had a lot of really good games on both cd and cart.

  • another great video! love me some shmup goodness!

  • Another awesome video.

I love my SMUPs, but I am very very picky about the ones I play, so I picked out a couple of interesting ones to try later.

My favourites have to be Raiden II(PC), Phoenix(2600), and Mars Matrix(DC) as they each have some amazingly addictive quality that keeps me coming back for more.

  • I usually prefer violence at the end of these episodes but I guess porn will do.

  • LOL,since when is Zuntata unmemorable musics? C'mon guys ;)

  • @tatsujincorp To be honest, Zuntata has never been tremendously thrilling. They've had some good stuff, but nothing mindblowing (Darius Gaiden might be their best). Raystorm's music is average. Not bad, just kind of "there".

  • Augh yeah, this is gettin' hot!

  • Great video guys. You guys should do let's plays, that would be fun to watch. Just a thought.

  • Another great episode, and an awesome way to end the episode. Great job guys. Nice to see some more shmups.

I really find it hard to pick between horizontal and vertical. I've always liked horizontal shooters more, but I've started to like vertical ones more too. I grabbed a whole bunch for my iPhone and I found horizontal shooters on the iPhone were more comfortable, but playing console shmups, I reckon vertical may be slightly more comfortable for me. I'm not all that sure though.

  • no love for Tyrian 2000 ?

  • Cool, Raiden Project and Canadian beer in the background too!

  • I want that Genesis Does.. tshirt..retro badass

  • You guys are great, keep it up.
