i think Buk's success and value as a writer can be attributed to him being crazy or at least what he believed to be crazy. laying around for days on end, constantly drinking, fucking, and gambling in excessive amounts definitely inspired a great deal of his work. what a brave man he was to live such a life and do so with style.
If you read his book on his Tour thru europe, you will find that this was his only reading in Germany, and he was extremely nervous, and surprised by the reactions of the audience. He sadi, that for the first time people laughed at the funny stuff and remained silent at the serious bits, for the first time ever.

Love the man, there will never be another. I pity those who try - they're just wasting a good liver, but probably not much more.

He has an amazingly soft, gentle, and sensitive voice. Listen closely to this voice while reading his literature of the quotidian.

He sounds sober in this clip. He sounds bored.
