  • I was upset when this show replaced "Just the Ten of Us." This could have been a good show, at a different time.

  • i don't remember this show from tgif.

  • Love this theme song, but I remember being PISSED that they canceled Just the Ten of Us for this.

  • @knmlover then they canceled this.

  • @pictureisup1 Yup, BIG mistake.

  • @pictureisup1 Big mistake to cancel JTTOU so prematurely, I mean lol

  • @knmlover I loved Just the ten of us too. Great show. It was a family show and very funny.

  • I remember this show when ABC did TGIF and every Friday night they would show a listing of shows like perfect strangers, family matters, step by step, etc but I only remember seeing this twice and then that was it.

  • Is that Lizzie McGuire's mom?

  • OMG this is almost the exact same opening as Step by Step except they're not at a theme park. They have the same font on their credits, there's a seventies TV star as the lead, they've even got Stacy Keanan who played Dana in Step by Step! Creepy!

  • That isn't the same font as what was used on Step By Step. This is an Italicized type in the Times New Roman/Garamond vein, whereas SBS used Bodoni Bold font. Also, none of these actors starred on any TV shows in the 70s (not even Holland Taylor, whose first breakout role was on Bosom Buddies, from Miller/Milkis/Boyett).

  • @VaultMasterDBT Thank you for that very thorough explanation but it still reminds me of Step by Step. I'm sorry it just does! It's my childhood what can you do?

  • It reminds you of SBS because it's done in a similar style. Both shows were from Miller/Boyett Productions and Lorimar Television.

  • @sonaliegh It does too. It is from the same production company.

  • wow i hadn't seen this since 1990 20 years i knew this show sucked back when i was 9

  • Jeez, how many sitcoms was Staci Keanan in back then?

  • @dsimpsons1 She was in My Two Dads with a pre-Mad About You Paul Reiser. It was an even worse sitcom than this about a girl living with two men, one of whom was her biological father. I'm not sure if any of them really knew or if it was something Staci's character kept hanging over her dads' heads to keep their living arrangement in place.

  • @dsimpsons1 she was in 3. She did a drama called Lisa too.

  • I haven't seen this intro in oh-so-LOOOOONG!!!

  • do you have this show that you could put up? i want to watch it really bad and i can't find it anywhere!

  • Two actresses in this opening both played the mother of Hilary Duff's characters in two of her works: Heather Locklear, who is shown first, costarred with Hilary in "The Perfect Man," and Hallie Todd, who is shown after Heather Locklear, played the mother of Lizzie McGuire, the character Hilary plays in the TV show of the same name, as VaultMasterDBT mentions in the description for this video.

  • 0:28 and Andrew McCarthy

  • It was already mentioned in a previous comment that Staci and Chris would be on 'Step by Step' the following year playing two of the three Foster siblings.

Ironically, another ABC show in 1990-91- Davis Rules- featured Angela Watson, who would also move on to 'Step By Step.'

Who would have thought that three people on two different shows would be on one show later that year?

  • lmao all the MB intros were so alike

  • ahh yes I can hear that time (9th grade) calling me back "Groove is in the Heart", "I just wanna be close to you", "Someday" were all big songs during that time period..and then the first Gulf War...the same people for that show did "Step By Step" no?

  • Wow I remember this show from the name.. and I actually remember the theme song.. and I remember staci keanan was in it, cause I had a crush on her.. but other than that, I can't remember anything about this show.

  • It was about people that were writers for a hidden camera show.

  • no wondered the show failed.

  • Well on paper it's not much different from THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW in that it was about people that wrote for a comedy show.

This had the talent to succeed, it just didn't.

  • Funny thing is, I remember Christopher Castille (Mark Foster) being in a few episodes too. Talk about a prelude to Step by Step the following year!

  • lol that show didn't last long it got cancelled after a couple of episodes.

  • It did last almost to a full season order..

  • i remember watching this show as a kid, man i miss TGIF.

  • u tellin'me,these shows nowadays fell off !

  • Here's something you probably didn't know - ABC actually canceled Just the Ten of Us to air Going Places; I think this was so that Miller-Boyett would be able to dominate the TGIF schedule.

  • Well I know that, and it's common knowledge to anyone who keeps up with behind-the-scenes news. M/B used their past clout with ABC to get their way!

  • @VaultMasterDBT If Just the Ten of Us was canceled, surely the producers of that show could've just moved it to another network or, if all else failed, made new episodes for first-run syndication!

  • I thought for sure i had lost my mind mind mind and made this show up. BRING BACK TGIF man!! :) Thank you so much for posting this!

  • Holy crap. I totally forgot about this show. As soon as the song started to play and I seen the opening, I remember seeing this! Wowzer!!

  • what are the lyrics after

"wide open spaces for my dreams..."

    and

"somebody said that moving things for back to..."

  • The line after "wide open spaces for my dreams.." has irked me alot. It sounds like either "no one think of it" or "no one fink with it", the latter of which would be a sanitized way of saying "no one fuck with it/them! (my dreams)"

The first part of the second line in question is clearly "Somebody say there's no mistake..", but it ends up finishing as "for factors, I didn't think of this", which is the closest interpretation I could draw.

  • I hate this show it was on abc!

  • this one i don,t remember

  • dang all these people ended up with pretty successful careers...like the four main stars pretty much ended up doing other successful TV shows, stacy keanan and christopher castille went to step by step, and holland taylor went to The Practice and Two and A Half Men (winning one emmy)

  • Oh My God! I actually remember this show. I believe it was shown on ABC's T.G.I.F Friday night line up from fall 1990 to spring 1991. The show started out with promise but the early "Friends" like premise never quite panned out for this ill fated show.

  • There's one episode that I remember vividly, Heather Locklear and Hallie Todd where putting together a exercise machine and they got trapped in it, also an episode where Staci Keanan's future Step by Step co-star Christopher Castile guest starred

  • Chris Castile was a regular for the second half of the show's one-season run, playing the son of Dick Roberts (Steve Vinovich), the talk show host the gang started working for.

  • Wow, you certainly know you classic television, I didn't remember that Chris Castile was a regular

  • Didn't two people from this show go on to "Step By Step?"

  • I think it was just one, Stacy Keanan would go to Step By Step after this show got cancelled in 1991, Heather Locklear would go to Melrose Place in 1992.

  • I think the other one was Chris Castile.

  • Christopher Castile was also on this show, so chrisuncleahmad was right.

  • I remeber that show its cameron from ferris buller lol

  • That's right and Alan Ruck and Heather Locklear would end up on Spin City together

  • yea thats right I forgot they were both on spin city afterwards

  • that's Holland Taylor she's been on a hord of Short-lived sitcoms like: Bosom Buddies (was Holland's break out role)also the shows, Going Places, Baby Bob.
