I disagree with the whole "you don't have to support the war, but support the troops." Na that's wrong. You support them, you're just glorifying them and in doing so, you're glorifying war. Besides i'm gonna guess Fleet foxes are more hippies than hardcore patriots...
When I first heard the song I took it as someone who was facing hard times, (i.e, poverty, relationships, family related). It really wouldn't fit with the rest of the album either. No disrespect, I come from a military family as well (my brother is in duty as I speak), but it seems to me that Fleet Foxes music really doesn't have much to do with patriotism, sorry :(
Love this song, but I feel you picked it for all the wrong reasons. It paints a picture of a war-ravaged soldier at best, not one who feels that he did his country a great duty.
Robin Pecknold always sang about his friends & brothers. relationships made and cherished. This is really a awful way for someone to pawn off the meaning of the lyrics into something it clearly doesn't mean.
@dee634 I don't recall seeing any label anywhere explicitly stating "THIS SONG IS NOT ABOUT WAR." By the way, I think YOU are misinterpreting my point. I'm expressing a struggle in images, and I chose to do this with images of soldiers and war because I was affected by war at the time. It's quite psychological. Do you not view things differently at different points in your life?
@rebelwithoutapause25 I hate war. War has taken away many members of my family, many of my friends, and it has ruined and ended many lives... Unduly. However, that doesn't mean that you can completely abandon the issue. Ignoring war doesn't create peace. This isn't my interpretation; the song REMINDED me of those affected by war-related trauma because my best friend was killed in Afghanistan at the time. Thank you for your opinion, though. :)

Great band. But what Fleet Foxes does have in common with some US patriotic crap? "I didn't understand"

Thanks for the nice video and supporting our troops.
But something seems wrong with the audio in this video - loads of distortion - but is it just me?

@tgordon681 Yeah, I just listened to it and noticed it. It's skipping horribly. I'm not sure why!
