  • Awesome! Is river dance basically the same thing as highland dancing? Your dance kinda looks like some of the river dance choreographies, just wondering

  • @midorihelenie ummm. no. not at all. it is a completely and utterly different style of dance they're really not similar in any way shape or form. just sayin.

  • very nice.. have a look at ..Abbie macneil.. dancing also playing in her band live . think you would like it

  • wow i was thinking about doing something like that for the school talent show with my friend and you are just amazing at that!!

  • i love this song for my talent show i am highland dancing

  • Thats really gd chorograph :D

  • An interesting departure from tradition, well executed by a very artistic and very talented young lady.

  • Leap and run?

    What is that?

  • hey hey - Good for you lady! I like the idea of taking traditional steps and creating something new.

Can't tell on my monitor, but if that's a dress macPherson - then hello too from a clanswoman

  • Heyy I'm glad you liked it! My kilt is actually Dress Royal MacRae of Conchra...but I have a student who's a MacPherson :)

  • for everyone that asked, the song is "Up to Me" by Seven Nations :)

  • nice choice of music!! i love seven nations :)

  • Wow .... I loved the song. What's the title?. BTW. I liked it. It's original.

  • hey thats quality! im working on a similar type of thing :)

  • i think this can be truly called crossover - amazing combo.

  • wow! that is amazing. the music goes really well with it! totally amazing!

  • Loved it!

Amazing choice of music as well.

  • Lovely :D What music did you use for this?

  • Wow I'm an Irish dancer and this is so different than us I thought it would be kinda the same but its totally not lol what do you guys consider to be a leap because I didn't recognize any Irish dancing type leaps in there...very pretty though I like the arm stuff

  • I don't know what an Irish Dance leap is, but in Highland, it's say what she does at 0:09. It like jumping and doing the splits at same time kinda thing. I don't know how else to describe it. Hope that helps.

  • I'm an irish dancer too and all I can say is I don't think I could do Highland! Your leaps are amazing!!

  • What does an irish leap look like anyway lol??

  • Scottish Dancer 93, youtube isn't allowing me to post as a reply. So here it is:

The leaps in Irish dancing come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and NAMES (different schools can use varied names to describe the same move). One of the ones done is a leap over (the name varies), others are like the jump in the air with your legs out to the side. There are a lot of different leaps and you can see a lot of them in this video "Parade of Champions Nationals 2008" by user JBluver1214 .

  • love it!!! i wish i could highland dance, but i've been doing too many other kinds of dance for so long, i'm probably kind of too old to start now :(

  • out of shape???? I think you are gorgeous. xx

  • aw thanks!

  • This is amazing! I highland dance myself, and have a few coreographys... but I'm not nearly as good as you. It's just amazing! I love your choice of music too, it works perfectly. GOOD LUCK AT SYTYCD!

Do it for all us highland dancers out there!

  • how did you go in ur auditions?

  • Your feet and turn-out are so nice. do you do any more choreography's? I think you mentioned it somewhere. I love it the most. Check out the Wicked Tinkers music. I have used many of their tunes. Their Primal.

    Your really great!

  • how long have you been dancing for ?

  • good luck with SYTYCD.Always wanted to see a highland dancer get far cos its always jazz ballet or ballroom.Well on SYTYCD australia it is lol

  • hi

whats this music called cause i go to highland and would luvv to mension it to them so we could do a dance to it its really good by the way!!!!

  • I think the song is "God" by Seven Nations (it might be "Green" I can't remember.)

Great dancing! I love the idea of doing traditional as well as modern music. The point is that cultural dancing is developmental. But we should always remember our roots.

  • It's Up to me by seven nations

  • I love this!

    What is the song?

  • absolutely spectacular!!! You could even change it up a bit and do it in an aboyne....

  • It's funny you say that because I'm auditioning for So You Think You Can Dance next week with this routine...dancing in my red aboyne costume!

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Ooh good luck!

  • Good Job! You're really good at dancing!

  • looks cool!

and the musik is also great. what is the name of this song?

  • This is really good!

  • What kind of kilt are u wearing? Kinda reminds me of mine.

  • Do you mean the tartan? The tartan is Dress Royal McRae of Conchra. I think the actual kilt is 6 or 7 yards. Very heavy to dance in!

  • Yes I meant the tartan. That is the same tartan as mine! lol!!

  • haha, I have the same tartan as well!

  • Thats so good , love the music.

We're doing a Choreographed peice to a wolfstone song but yours is great

  • amazing highland dancer ! :) xxxxx

  • You're a very pretty dancer! I'd love to see a Highland dancer on So You Think You Can Dance. Good for you for trying!!

  • wow you're so good

  • Love the music - what is it called?

  • Hey thanks! I know...it is just a shortened Highland Laddie. I used this piece for my So You Think You Can Dance audition, so wanted to dance something that I knew well.

The music is a celtic rock band Seven Nations, song "Up to me." They are pretty well known in Cali, but don't come out here very often.

  • I know Seven Nations. My friend wants to marry one of the band members haha. (: How was your audition?

  • eh audition was okay...i sort of bombed it...but keep your eyes open for next year!

  • Did you go back this year? :)
