  • 76 dislikes - how can anyone dislike this beautiful melodic music?

  • @toilet -There is definitely something very spiritual in this melody. What it is,i couldn`t yet find out...But i would say,if Heaven has melody in there, this would be certainly the one we could find!Peaceful, uplifting, melodic, full of purity and love.Thank you for posting this on Youtube!

  • i don't like this song becuz i love it

  • It's 6:45 AM here in India now. 3 hours ago, I was pissed off that Rahman had turned commercial and vouched to listen to all his masterpieces from the 1990s - Roja, Bombay, Thiruda Thiruda (God, what an album!), Jeans, Iruvar and every other related video that youtube could throw at me. Now, I am too overjoyed by the purity of his music to be bothered with thoughts like commercialism. Latika's Theme reminds me that he still remembers how to capture powerful emotions with simple notes...

  • Listening to this you, realise the good things in life and how lucky you truly are to be alive.

  • beautiful song!!! thanks for uploading!!

  • Just beautiful, no other words to describe it.

  • Like this instumental!! Wouldn't mind hearin it awake or asleep!!

  • Everytime I hear this song, I reminisce about the old days. When times were good between me and her and when times were bad.

  • Just came back from the watching it on kookíca!!! It's awesome! I couldn't really understand the begginning though. My mom said the whole movie except for the ending was good for her... But actualy I liked the whole movie...

  • jamal and latika are WAY BETTER than edward and bella

  • @tadz1508 I completely agree!!!!!

  • this is a phenomenal song. its one of the best parts of the movie

  • the best piece of music ever made.

  • Love it!

  • I can't stop listening to this. It's beautiful. In my opinion, better without the words. Some songs just don't need lyrics. I am playing this at my wedding. When I hear it I can visualize Jamal and Latika together at the train station, the smile on Jamal's face as Latika looks up, smiling. Love will prevail. Always.

  • Another Tamil lullaby of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja:

  • i love this song so so so much

  • this is my favourite music in this film! Also the film is great!!!!!

  • what a composition....itz quite hard to make such music rahman is great

  • I don't see how anyone could call it disappointing in the least. This is a great movie. So go and get it on kòòkica. Sometimes critics get jaded with hype, and you just have to come down on a movie, which is fine from time to time, but maybe a second viewing of the movie may make things clearer for you.

  • absolutely beautiful.

  • Another Tamil lullaby of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja is Veenaikku Veenai – Ellame En Rasathan (1995). A joyous hubby sings to his pregnant lady. Also he expresses his concern over her wellbeing. Find it @ thiraipaadal (dotcom).

  • This v very relaxing and nice. thanks :P

  • very viabrant song...

  • is just a great movie and amazing soundtrack... i love it.......

  • Whahou magnifique chanson!

  • 75 people didn't find there destiny.(love doing those lol)

  • @dearangel111 and one has nothing better to do than writing about them.

and another one, writes about the one... stupid.

    -> Listen!!

  • @fjmi What?

  • @dearangel111 listen instead of blaming "bad" voters?

  • I LOVE THIS SONG !!

  • Another Tamil Oppari of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja is Enge Sellum – Sethu (1999). Find it @ thiraipaadal (dotcom).

  • Maybe the fact that the other characters didn't seem involved in the movie might tell you a little about the actual story....hmmmmm....you might have thought that out before writing this review... See movie on kòòkica...

  • Wow, that's beautiful. Where can I get that song?? It's like a lullaby.

  • Now you compare a Modern-day Oppari: Nothing Compares 2 U – Sinead O’Connor (1990) with a Tamil Oppari: Rasathi – Thiruda Thiruda (1993). Then you realize emotions and sounds are universal. Yes amma=mama.

  • I think everyone is missing a lot of the audio effects in this film... particularly in the very last shot. So try to see it again at kòòkica to catch all the details. And while i thoroughly enjoyed the film, and at the time was very caught up in it, reflection over the past few days has left a really satisfied feeling.

  • stupenda.

  • nuostabi...

  • Log on to thiraipaadal (dotcom) for a lover’s Tamil lullaby:

    Thendrale – Kadhal Desam (1996).

A lover sings Tamil lullaby to his ladylove. That lover tells his worries over their relationship to the sleeping beauty. But she sleeps ignorantly. This describes worries of a young lover and the pain of untold love.

  • Beautiful...makes me want to cry. Life is beautiful, and when you watch the film with an ending with this incredible music you realise it...

  • Loveee Ehtt< 3

  • Jamal and Latika are way better than Bella and Edward!

  • @ShirleyRox625 what are you talking about bella and edward for are they even in this movie no they are'nt

  • @MsEazye2010 lolz i just think that bella and edward were like the modern romeo and juliet, but jamal and malik are even better than them...

  • @ShirleyRox625 I agree! I feel like they've got much more----true genuine love.

  • @TheSoulEatr ouch !!!!!

  • @ShirleyRox625 That should go without even saying! :P

  • @bobbjob4815 yeah !!

  • this song makes me cry always....

  • j adoreeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just brilliant!

  • Just watched this movie. I am not Indian but it is one good awesome movie!!! I like this song the best (Latika Theme).....It just startled me because the song from 2:05 and up reminds me of another song that I cannot remember....I am talking about the rythym. Cannot quite put my finger on it.......(thinks)???

  • @julio13mercado

I think it might remind you of a song in "A little princess" a movie that was made back in 1995. Maybe??? :)

  • wow amazing ar rahman makes me proud to be tamil my muslim brother

  • beautiful <3 best movie ever , best song ever , best romance ever <3

  • Tamil Lullabies:

    Mestro Ilaiyaraaja’s

    Chinna Thayaval – Thalapathi (1991)

    Yuvan Shankar Raaja’s

    Aarariraro – Raam (2005)

    Thiraipaadal(dotcom)

  • Cry! Cry!! Enjoy your tears. The tears will wash away all your negative thoughts such as creed fear anger etc. You will be a newborn baby again at the end of tears. It is the foremost baptism humankind had even before civilizations.

Till then you will be more compassionate day after day.

  • Now you relate with the words uttered by A.R.Rahman in academy awards: “I have nothing, but I have mother”. Yes she is a proud Tamil mother.

  • Take another sample of a father’s Tamil lullaby:

    Aadiyila kaathadicha – Villain (2002)

    Find it @ thiraipaadal(dotcom)

  • forgot where i heard this song and it took me 2hours to find...zomg

  • this is BEAUTIFUL <3

  • Tamil Lullaby:

The Tamil Lullaby is known as Thalattu. Thal=Tongue + Aattu=Sway (up and down). Mother sings a song to console her crying baby and adds rhythm by her tongue in between stanzas. This type of vocal rhythm makes the child to sleep. Stanzas are to express her sorrow; Rhythm is for her child’s consolation. This tradition has prevailing among Tamils for more than few millennia at least.

  • @ChenkiThe

wow, dats very interesting. didn't know dat. its so sad.

  • Log on to thiraipaadal (dotcom) for a Maiden’s lullaby: Porale Ponnuthayi (solo) – Karuthamma (1994).

This lullaby is to a maiden’s sorrows. In this song situation the bride leave her home for a new married life. This partition with home and village makes her sorrowful. This song describes her sorrows but assures the life will be prosperous as plantain tree ahead.

  • Tamil Oppari:

While another famous song tradition prevails among Tamils is Oppari. Oppu=Together + Aari=Console. That is together consoling each other. These songs are meant to sing in their beloved’s mourning ceremonies. It also coexists from the times of Thalattu.

  • Log on to thiraipaadal (dotcom) for a lover’s Oppari: Rasathi – Thiruda Thiruda (1993).

In this song situation there is not a death but the lover feels her ladylove’s partition as her soul’s departure. So he sings an Oppari style song to express his sadness.
