17 year old senior shih tzu still playing with his toys

You see I love my doggie. He is a Shih Tzu mix (Bull dog most likely) and he is about 11 1/2 years old and I've been worried about him leaving me. But seeing your happy 17 1/2 dog makes me think that Maxxie has years and years to come. Thanks!!!!

If you don't mind me asking, is Bobo still playing with his toys or has he went to play with the toys in the Doggie House in the sky???

This video made me very happy! she is 15 and i am constantly worried about her even tho she is in good health. I have a little ray of hope that I will have my friend for a while longer! Your dog is adorable! :) shi tzus rock!!

Awww, that's the sweetest thing. My maltese, Snowy, passed away @ 13yrs old. He loved his toys too and I thought he would eventually grow out of it but didn't. He played with his toys until the very end!

How did you take care of him to live so long? I have 3 I wish they will live even healthy for even longer. What kind of food and products did you give him?

@joytou228 My dog is also 17 an i swear by feeding the dog "human" food all these years. She loves bread, rice, eggs, milk, cheese, beans, meat, etc...And for some reason she likes eating cat food out of the cats bowl ! :) She doesn't play like this dog -- just likes being scratched and held -- I'm guessing she can't see very well so it gives her comfort.

@japierce15 no way! My old shih tzu (god bless his soul) used be like that, hell one time he ate a piece of chocolate on accident with the foil still on and nothing happened. He lived for 17 wonderful, spoiled years

My Shih Tzu is 10 years old and acts like a puppy my neighbor has a 10 yr old Golden Retriever and its not even as active as my Shih Tzu I feel bad for the golden though its old and dosn't want to do anything but my dog will play anytime lol.

You are soooo lucky to have your little baby for so long. I hope he brings you many more years of love. My little Shih Tzu, Mickey - a little girl with a boy's name - lived to be almost 17.....they are such a wonderful breed! Good luck.

How wonderful that your shih-tzu's so active at 17 1/2!! My Misha just turned 16 y.o. and she's saddly showing some ailing/aging symptoms (but everyone comments how she still looks like a puppy!). Shih Tzu's are the sweetest doggies!

How wonderful he can still play like that. My Shih-tzu, Moppet, is only five years old and I enjoy every minute with him. You can see him in my video if you click my user-name. I know now I will always have a Shih-tzu. They are the neatest dogs.
