  • SNES controller is better.

  • laughed so much when the dog stole the treat at 1:34

  • I find it very ironic that we both have Dogs named Stella and equally love Sega the same amount.

  • X3

  • Comment removed

  • Who are the bastards that are disliking CGR vids?

  • i have 2

  • I like the d-pad on the 6 button genesis controllers better. It presses easier and seems more responsive than the original. Guess my thumb is lazy.

  • It`s bulky SNES controller was alot easier for me to play because it`s d-pad was outstanding to me and it fits right in my hands for me to play.

  • I got my first megadrive a few weeks ago I'm loving it also one of my fav controllers.

  • Wait, did you say that the NES Advantage was your favourite? LOL, whatever.

  • @SNESFanboy64 'm not trying to be picky or anything but I think that he said t was his favorite "nintendo" controller.... I think, honestly you might be right :)

  • Bought a sega a week ago. guess what? Broken Controller. It's one of the greatest controllers and the one the breaks the most. I had to buy a replica controller

  • my d-pad broke off 1 of my controllers so whenever a friend comes over I tell him to use it like an analog stick

  • That's Good slobber all over it. that will make it easier to play

  • I still think the snes controller was the best in my opinion

  • I hate when the controller is broken and you have to smash your thumbs onto it with all your force... So it can barely work. GAH!

  • WHat kind of dog do you have?

  • Ya, i have an original genesis controller with red accents. The controller socket part is kind of different too.

  • weird I've got one Genesis controller from Taiwan and one Genesis controller from Japan the J one has the textured buttons and D-pad but the T one doesn't and the controller is shinier over all... OMG maybe one is from another universe where Taiwan is the leading electronics country and Japan makes all the plastic products in the world... or maybe one was produced in a different factory... i'll stick with the different universe

  • Would rather have the controller, or this milk bo--

    OMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

  • i love this controller. its the best one in my opinion except for fighting games because of the D-pad. Of course the 6 button one is perfect to play some SF and MK with a mutch better D-pad and extra buttons.

  • 1:34 - 1:42 LOL!

  • does the genesis controller work with nes cuz im getting 1 i also have to turbo controller forgot what its called

  • @wingman265 No, but the Genesis controller does work with the Atari 2600.

  • the 6 button genesis controller is my favorite controller EVER

  • Greatest controller ever made

  • My dog liked the Genesis controller better-it bit through the cords and destroyed two of them.

  • 1989 Sega Genesis controllers did not have texturized grip spots and had red accents on the buttons.

That being said, these are classics and pretty easy to find at garage sales and online.

  • @100sonicdash Also the 1989 ones had terrible dpads. I own 3 and the dpads are stiff and terrible. The later ones were excellent though.

  • Guys, its... just... a...controller.

  • some buttons on my controller is broken so I can't play all my old sega games! :(( I hope there's some way to buy these today

  • @Wartoz Ebay

  • cats suck. i mean i despise them.

  • @treebark4000 i love cats, to me, it's dogs that suck. They suck, they poop, they just screw it all up to be honest.

  • i like the Tron xbox controller, d-pad is a little better then the standard controller. Bought it after wasting money on that Razer Onza piece of shit.

  • They should a Dreamcast 2 w/ great graphics the same as Xbox or Ps3 and use the Sega GENESIS contoller you know with more buttons and a analog stick

  • @duhminime that would be..... Xbox and ps3....

  • mark what do you like more the genesis or the vectrex ?

  • Wow, I can't believe BOTH of the top rated comments are quotes of the "cat" comment.

  • My megadrive/genesis controller says SEGA in the middle and has a red start button instead of white

  • Cute dog

  • @09TexanTitan one kind did but most of them were like the one in the video

  • Love that dog

  • i dont have a genesis but i have an emulator for that (on my aunts modded xbox which requires the xbox controller

  • @deltadragonoid225 Stop playing on an emulator and get a real genesis nothing beats the real thing.

  • I think the dog wanted the milkbone.

  • Best controller ever, as long at its not broken :D

  • @fleskiss as*

  • @fleskiss how do you break one this is not possible

  • @DarkLuigi4321 I have three, and all of them are more or broken hehe

  • @fleskiss more or less* :D

  • The Genesis Is A Pretty Fun Console And I Enjoy Some Awesome Titles Like Sonic 1, 2, 3, & Knuckles, Streets Of Rage, Splatterhouse 3, Revenge Of Shinobi, And Much, Much More.

  • I think Stella passed on :'(

I never see her anymore in the reviews... At least she got her own PS2 controller :')

  • biggest problem with the genesis controller: try pressing a and c at the same time ;)

same goes for the 6 button but to a lesser extent (2 of those buttons should have been on the shoulders, much more versatile)

  • @kght222 any controller with more than 2 face buttons has difficulty. Its not easy to press a and y on the snes controller either

  • @kR0B45 true, but its easier than pressing a and c on this, you can do it with one finger and not disturb other buttons. but yes it is difficult to hit a diagonal combo, but its a hell of allot easier than hitting two buttons with a button in the middle.

  • @kght222 Because the buttons are bigger, its easier just to use your fingers on the genesis controller. I cant think of any game that would require you to press both at the same time anyway

  • @kR0B45 on the genesis, no there are none. i'm not comparing apples to apples here. but the reason there are none on the genesis that make you regularly use that button combination is because of the controller; it was pretty much impossible on the gen controller. but over the years there have been many games where seemingly odd button combinations are useful. just look at the mortal kombat games to get an idea of it. and even on the genesis there were a few games that wanted a+c in a code or mov

  • @kR0B45 and keep in mind, there is a reason that companies continue to produce controls with a 2x2 button interface, it works. beyond the sega controller no gamepad with 3x1 or 3x2 has ever been successful. hell people still hate the n64 control but that wasn't just about the front right buttons, but they are part of it. just face it man, even though the sega controller was well built, its a peice of shit.

  • @kght222 The 3x1 has expired yes, but not the 3x2. The N64 controller was hated because its horrible design (analogue stick handle) not the 3x2 face layout. Since the transition to 3D, there is more emphasis on using the dual analogue sticks, rather than the buttons.

  • @kR0B45 All modern controller have more then 2 face buttons.

  • type gift before youtube

  • I donno if the genisis controllers had this but the lead for the mega drive controllers were way too short

  • If that controller had 2 thumbsticks and some triggers Mark would allways play PS3 and XBOX 360 with it

  • I have always had my issues with the SEGA controllers. NES had 4 buttons (Two standard plus Select and Start.) and the SMS only had 2. Genesis had 4 buttons (3 standard and a Start button.) while the SNES had 8 (6 standard plus Select and Start.) And it just goes down hill from there. I am speaking of stock controllers since I realize that the Genesis did come out later with a 6 button one plus a Start button, but still no select. Even the DC one was missing a lot of buttons and a thumb stick.

  • @Jerrid3

You had a MODE button at the back of the controller (where is the R button of Saturn).

  • I like the Japanese version controller, it's start button was blue and the A B C ridges on the buttons were red.

  • @Mike89066 FINALLY someone understands

  • dug out my old snes and its controller, even though the layout and the buttons are much better, the flippers buttons etc, it feels cheap plasticy the plastic creaks and flexes. its good, but did not feel anywhere near as well built and good in the hand as this controller

fantastic use one with my atari 2600, and its fantastic.

know im looking for a megadrive as well to go with it

  • love the start button

  • are u thinking about reviewing sonic 3d blast soon? on the genisis not hte saturn

  • anyone know about a 16bit sega genesis controller? it has a (what seems to be a power box) attached to it;s cable, and it omes in red, with a few extra buttons. it's at a local pawn shop for 4 dollars....

  • @rudoman22 It's a mini-console with some built in genesis games and has no cartridge slot for more games

  • @Snotnarok awww, was hoping it was some sortof graphics add on hahaha

  • @rudoman22 There already is 3 addons, 32x, Sega CD, Power Base Converter, sure only 2 of them use an extra power cord but you want to add more? Madness!

  • @Snotnarok yeah I saw a review of the addons, I don't really think i wan them ahhahaha.

  • @rudoman22 As troublesome as they can be they do have some really good games on them.

  • stella the video game dog!!!!!!!

why isn'tse in your new videos?

  • i bought one of these for my atari its huge for my hands

  • i bought one of these for my atari

  • @digitalobserver They also don't get uglied up with finger prints because the company decided to use a stupid shine on them. Nor are they shiny silver where that wears off in a month either. Simple will always win against stupidly complex...and expensive.

  • No, that's not it, The original had red and while colors.

  • actually, to use it in the 7800 you need an adaptor.

  • I have "Mortal Kombat", and i have the 6-button controller. The moves are more akward on the 6-button, so i'm gonna get the 3-button controller.

  • Sega Genesis was GOOD but! it will never beat N64

  • @VideoGameMaster007

Nothing will ever beat the n64...

  • YEAH! except the Atari 2600 MAYBE who knows.

  • @Supertomiman N64 controller was terrible.

  • @IAmTheGoodSirKnight

wtf are you talking about, it's the best controller ever

  • @Supertomiman The controller was aesthetically unappealing and it felt awkward and at times uncomfortable, just like your ignorance. Please leave YouTube forever now before you cause any more damage.

  • @IAmTheGoodSirKnight

I find the controller to be quite appealing and original, also it has been able to fit my hands since i was 4 and it still does now that my hands are larger than the controller itself. so shut up douchebag.

  • @Supertomiman You are obviously sick in the head. Seek therapy.

  • @IAmTheGoodSirKnight just cause he likes the n64 controller better means he has a mental illness? i'm sorry but that's a stupid thing to say.

  • 1:33 You're lucky that dog didn't bite your finger. That was close.

  • Nintendo could have learned a lot from this controller. The SNES controller looks like a DOGBONE! Not saying the SNES controller is a bad controller, but, it's just weird. I thought if your opponent did something good, you would try to do better than him. I wish the 6-button Genesis controller worked with the SNES.

  • @Ollie7475 Well the NES Toploader controller does look like a DogBone controller (which actually looks cool).

  • "even the playstation controller" Tbh, I hate all three playstation controllers. The ultimate controller imo, is the gamecube control. It fits perfectly in your hands, and every button is in reach easily.

  • epic gamepad.....but i got something a little better.... and SGprogampad6 and awesome six button progammable controller for the genesis.......but i painted it gold. not the buttons just the plastic

  • I have like 3 of these

  • At the begining of classic game room videos, along with the squirell with red eyes, I would put Stella next to it also with red eyes

  • Dont trade your awesome dog in for a c@t lol. Your dog is too awesome to be traded!

  • 1:36

    xD

  • Why would you trade in the mascot of Classic Game Room with a f*cking cat?!

  • the dog part was funny

  • I guess I had a genesis controller... But i had NES games and a completely different console... Europe-Anything can happen in it!

  • It has by far the best D-Pad to date.

As much as I Love Playstation controllersof any era, I don't get why nobody makes circular d-pads anymore (I don't coun't the 360 d-pad as such at all).

The NES-cross-styled d-pad may look nicer, but is so inferior when it comes to diagonals.

A Dualschock 3 with the Genesis d-Pad would be the best controller ever.

  • ROFL the dog !!!!

  • 39 million consoels sold

    snes sold 49 =winner

    genesis=FAILURE!

  • 1:39 XD! thts priceless

  • Genesis got bitch slapped by the SNES

  • Not an excellent controller, an AMAZING controller. Simple, but did what it did well and was the most comfortable of the d-pad controllers.

  • Thanks For The Vid Dude! Now i know which game console my parents had! It was Sega GENESIS!

  • What's the difference between this and the six-button one?

  • @KedViper that it has 3 buttons, duhhh

  • Well, I was asking which was better quality.

  • Is this controller good? Like really good?

  • i swear to god i'm gonna trade you in for a cat lol

  • That's a nice dog you got there.

  • Ah great controller ! I use it on my Master System and on my C64. Works fine and is really amazing.

  • "i swear to God, I'll trade you in for a cat" LOL! XD

  • i have a couple of genesis controllers... one is the same as this vid, and one has a bit of red accent colors... inside the button lettters and i believe around the D pad.. any difference with them?

  • 1:28 ROFLMFAO

  • can u play the atari 2600 controller for the genesis?

  • yes

  • lol trade in for a cat lol

  • poor stella just give her a milk bone treat that is shaped like a controller

  • I love it at 1:27-1:44

  • 1: Playstation DualShock

    2: Genesis

    3:Ne Geo CD

    4:Atari 2600 :P

    5.360

  • MY< oppinion of controllers

    1Xbox 360

    2Gamecube controller

    3n64(only problem is the analog)

    4Snes

    5Genegis

  • shut up spinct83 sega couls only make good pads beacuse they could fit everones hands from matster system all the way 2 dreamcast nintendo sucks balls at conterollers the nes tiny buttons snes hard 2 grip and buttons but in stupid places n64 analog right in the middle gamcube only good nintendo controller....to fit kids hands! and the wii not even a controller

  • i preferre the genesis controller to the megadrive controller the logo is much nicer

  • Unfortunately my regular genesis controller was used when I got it, and badly taken care of, so mines really stiff. I mostly end up using a third party controller (which for some reason has triggers you can use in lieu of the buttons)

  • i like how the B button has "trigger" written under it and a little raised dot on it, classic

  • Another great thing about the Genesis/Megadrive controller is that it fits and works with my MSX :)

That made gaming alot more comfortable for sure :)

  • Actually the best (digital) controllers ever made are the 6 button wireless for the Mega Drive, and the Saturn controller. After getting the 6-button I could never go back to the classic, it was too flat and the grip wasn't so good.

Of course it was still a lot better than the Master System and NES controllers. Who thought a rectangle was an appropriate design for those?

  • Well, they are of course based on this controller, hence why the credit goes to it.

Top 5 Controllers of all time:

    5. Xbox 360 (not sure though, may lose points due to being a Dreamcast Rip-off)

    4. Nintendo 64

    3. SNES

    2. PlayStation DualShock

    1. Sega MegaDrive/Genesis.

Seriously, I was born with this controller in my hands.. but nobodys perfect, I didnt learn how to play it until I was 3.

  • I just bought a Genesis on Saturday, and I love it so much! Awesome system! Sonic 2's my fav game I have right now.

My only regret is that I wasn't able to buy more games {I have 6 right now}.

  • The Genesis controller is great for stationary human assisted robots too! Just get a DB-9 connector and wire it up to the microcontroller of your choice. The pinout couldn't be easier for the six button or three button models.

I'm using it to control a turret on my desk. :)

  • cute dog

  • The Sega Genesis Controller is my favorite controller of all time. :)

  • "Stella, video game dog would you rather have the sega genesis controller, or would you rather have this milk cook.... I swear to god im going to trade you in for a cat."

  • I can only imagine that when Mark got his first Genesis years ago, the planets aligned, warring nations made peace with eachother, angels sang in perfect harmany in the sky and for just one moment, everything in the universe was perfect in every conceivable way.

    It was a magical time.

  • Mark actually discovered the Sega Genesis while he was flying around in space with his zorlon cannon, he brought it to earth and blessed the masses.

  • Really? Well, apparently my copy of the CGR bible is somewhat out of date. Must get a new one...

  • well...looks like marks is becoming chuck norris then...lol

  • Chuck Norris never flown no Yars, he never drove no moon Patrol buggy! ..He never typed in no southern accent, man I'm dumb at 3AM haha.

  • @Snotnarok So then Sega stole it from him and reproduced it?

  • @Tryzon but the 32x and non release of the neptune both were key elements in causing the distress in Bosnia.

lol i actually have an army bag my dad gave me from his days in the military. his friends in his troop kept a sega master system in there! it also still has sand from saudi arabia circa 1991 and a leaf from bosnia circa 1997. not washing it.

  • @Dogman36 Epic indeed.

  • @Dogman36 OMG 20 year old sand how amazing...not.

  • someone is selling on ebay UK the sega saturn and sega mega drive genesis wireless CONTROLLERs.

    :)

  • Hmm that comment was supposed to be a reply to another one...

Anyways I never really liked the Genesis controller. It was annoying to have to hold start and hit the ABC buttons to do certain strength attacks in Street Fighter 2. Even when they came out with the 6 button controllers I found having all the buttons on the face of the controller hard to use.

Funny to hear your voice when you try and say it's better than the PS controller, even you don't believe it.

    Obvious Sega fanboy is obvious.

  • I love the Genesis controller! Looks like something Batman would kill someone with.

  • "would you rather have the sega genesis controller, or would you rather have the milk bo-. I swear to god im gonna trade you in for a cat!"

  • My Sega Genesis just stoped working after eight years. I thought they came out in 1994.

  • 1989 or something like that. MODEL 2 came out in 1994.

  • Haha trade in for a cat lol, but I disagree with this being better than the Playstation controller, that's a pretty big statement you have balls for saying that lol...you're wrong but I commend you for your balls.....wait that came out wrong, anyway pretty strange how this is compatible with Atari consoles considering they're different companies and were in competition with eachother.

  • the playstation control is great for playstation games and the genesis controller is great for genesis games. either way they are both great

  • I see what you're saying, but I just can't get on with the flatness of the megadrive controller.

  • This might just be the best controller.

  • Why would a controller like this be better than controllers today that have Joysticks aswell as a D-Pad.

It is very critical for games like Sonic the hedgehog and fighting games to have a good D-pad.

The D-pad on the Genises doesn't even respond like Nintendo's Crosspad.

Overall "IMO" Nintendo are the best when it comes to hardware.

  • The worst part about the original Genesis controller is the D-Pad. It is rough for fighter games or anything that requires constant movement on it.

  • this controler has a bad shape i feel so unconfortable while using it

  • That controller looks great!!Sega made some dahm good hardware!!

  • My official 6 button pad was my prized possesion when i was 10!

  • "would you rather have a controller, or a- GULP!"... "im trading you in for a cat" lol

  • why did you say to stella about trading him in for cat

  • WOW U HAVE NO SENSE OF HUMOR

  • Stella is a SHE!

  • SEGA FTW!!! lolz sega made such good hardware im happy sum one finaly agrees with me

  • ima puy my sega genesis with 20 games on ebay starting bid 1 penny free shipping see u there

  • I know right? I was playing my friends sega genesis that her brother kept yesterday and i had trouble moving with the control pad.
