Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the United States, and I think that it's important to let those know about the Taino/Arawak Indian Historical past; along with their celebration of 'giving thanks'. It's important..no matter how cheesy the music or video. Believe it or not, most kids..and even some adults still do not know the true histories of European Colonialism and the original American Indian cultures.
Taino AND Caribe peoples and traditions are still VERY real in the Caribbean. EVERY island REGARDLESS of our race should pay tribute to these people as they are our ancestors too and set the foundation to who we are as a people. In Jamaica Taino/ Caribe descendants are called Maroons and they live in the mountainous/ Country areas.
there was a recent study done and im not exact on the numbers but it was found that about 70something percent of puerto ricans have as much as like 85% arawak madriocondal dna
First of all the langauge is Arawak and the people were Tainos. I also know that after the books said they were killed out by the Spanish there were still some in existence. My grandmother was part Taino. How would you explain that if they died out? A few of them were still living in the hills; even some modern literature says it.
Note the word "Echos" from the past. And were you there to say they juggled or not? Anyway, it is just a bunch of made up stuff so enjoy it for what it is.
@vowoyele only a portion of the tribe was completely killed. the arawaks were a huge nomadic tribe both in south america and in the carribean.. if this were not so i would no be around to reply to this message...
