that is so stupid, ive been thinking of this since the iphone came out but now that i see it, it just looks really stupid.. its pretty much the reg keyboard just has button clicks and has dimension. wat would be really cool is if u could make the iphone into a gamecontroller for iphone games that would be worth buying :P
Looks interesting, but it would be nice if it folded away to the back of the phone or something when not in use. Other than that I would be really interested in seeing how if feels.
Vitaminwater, sorry to hear about your continuing mental condition. Good luck with that.
My question is how well does the tactile feel of this keyboard complement the touchscreen. There's no question that a sense of touch can enhance the experience but by how much is my question. For $30, I will be trying it out for sure.
Slipping it on (for longer typing) and off (for full screen use) would be no problem for me. Remember that the half screen that is covered is exactly where the soft keyboard is in typing mode. Whether it flips from the side or slides on and off provides the same ease-of-use to me.
It's amazing how some people, not to mention any names "vitaminwater1001", can be so narrow-sighted as to put forward their own personal preferences as an informed opinion of the entire marketplace. As a business user, I'll be one of the first to try this as I love my iPhone's touchscreen for almost everything but typing on the iPhone will never match my old Blackberry - until now maybe!
I think the problem with it is the fact that it just covers half of the screen. If it was maybe and addon QWERTY to the side that you could use to also protect the screen, that might be cool, but this just seems cheap and silly.
Hi VitaminWater1001.... You should talk to people that have problems typing on the iPhone and let them know the only reason they bought it, was for the Touchscreen.
Let me guess what you typed your comment on... No capital letters! No punctuation! Poor grammar! Short sentences?
Keep the barely literate comments coming, your helping us demonstrate the value of the product.
hello. does this connect somehow to the ipod itself or is it simply an overlay type thing, where its still using the keys on the screen but with this overlay in between the finger and the screen ? or is this an electronic device taht plugs into the ipod touch ?
PeeeWeee, A tactile keyboard clearly has advantages for many people who write longer emails/texts. You may not be one of them and that's fine. I happen to be one and love this product idea. You'd do better on message boards to apply more thought and less enmity.
@PeeeWeee92. People don't just get keyboards to go horrizontal. many people use them as electronic notepads. Slider phones have been around for years. There is a huge market for vertical phones and people miss the keyboards. If anyone FAILS, it is Pee Wee92. Guess what your preference isn't necessarily what everyone else wants. It's what you want. Loser
Mobile mechtronics-I love this gizmo. When does it come out?
If this works as well as it says it does this will insure that I get an iPhone next year. I was gonna get an iPhone this year, but was getting SUPER frustrated with my fingers (which are not fat at all!!) hitting the wrong keys and multiple keys. I can't wait to try this out now!! I type so good on my Blackberry Bold, I hope this makes the iPhone easier to type on!!
I think this is a very innovative approach to a real issue for many users. My iPhone is great for a lot of things but the touchscreen, for me, is not as good as a tactile keyboard. I'll definitely try it and, if it works well, slipping it on and off for the advantage in longer emails and texts will be well worth it.
As much as I love my iPhone, there is no way that I can type as well or as fast on my iPhone as I could with my Blackberry. I'm a business user and typing quickly and without typos is valuable to me. If it works well, I'll use it for longer emails and texts all the time!
Thisis a good idea. But nobody really needs to take this on and off every time they text and exit out. Just nice to have for fun. And I'm pretty sure I can type faster than that like two times better. Ur graph thing was wrong. I've had my iPhone for a long time so it's really easy to use. Ur facts are super wrong.
The iTwinge was designed to help transition new users to the virtual keyboard by helping them build muscle memory. We have found many people are interested in the iTwinge because for various reasons they cannot master the virtual keyboard primarily for emails that can be long in length.
For many text messages typos really don't matter, but however in emails, typos need to be corrected and that wastes a lot of time.
Sorry, but not yet we are looking to see how much demand we have on the phone. Do you type a lot on you "Touch" for emails and documents? Thanks Mike @ Mobile Mech
The answer: quit sending so many texts you little idiots! There is no need for you to send 10 texts a minute. Your friends don't care what you ate for a snack...trust me. The world can do without your text-arrhea.
I love the idea and can't wait to try it. I've been an iPhone owner from the beginning and I've owned all three generations of product. I love the touchscreen and I'm a huge fan of Apple in general. But, there is no way that I can type as fast or with as few typos as I could with my old Blackberry. This keyboard, with the auto-correct feature still functional, should provide productivity gains for my longer emails and texting. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback... In addition to just improving typing during normal use, I think you'll see a big improvement when you're in motion (walking, in a moving car (passenger), or on a subway).
It feels just like a skin on your iphone on the side and back (about the same extra size as an incase skin) and on the front there is a low profile keyboard.
Thanks for the support.... We're happy we can design and make this product in Canada! Mike @ Mobile Mech
I do not like the idea of push on somthing, that might then push on a screen... with the touch keys you can just tap... this keyboard makes it look like you have to press.... and I dont want to press on anything that could press on the screen!
You do not push directly on the screen, any pressure that is generated is distributed over the entire surface. is distributed over the entire screen. Regards Mike @ Mobile Mech
What product did you write this insightful and well thought out comment on? It will never cease to amaze me the negative energy and emotion some people will put into this type of response for something as trivial and unimportant as a cell phone and it's keyboard.
That being said, I've written my response to this post with my iTwinge!
Have a great day & keep the cards and letters coming.
My thumbs cover the entire virtual keyboard, so we did not put our best foot forward with respect to speed, just wanted to show a different use case. In addition it's tougher (For me anyhow) to type from a script, versus just typing what your thinking. On that I'm up around 45 works a minute.
The predictive typing on the keyboard allows you to keep typing and have it correct mistakes for you, with very high accuracy. With a physical keyboard, you have to correct EVERY MISTAKE.
Virtual keys win in my book. There's a lot of great technology in the iPhone, why cover it up with a hideous piece of cheap plastic.
i realized that the spelling correction is probably still going to work as soon as i posted my last comment. My concern really has to do with there being a physical barrier between you and the intelligent keyboard. Having physical keys, would make me spend more time trying to press each and every key spot on.
The beauty of the iphones keyboard, is that you dont have to do that. you save time by actually letting it pick up on what keys youve pressed as you blow through the text.
i honestly cant see a time where id want to spend money to dumb my phone down.
Do you know where I can find this?

I don't agree that typing on a physical keyboard is faster than typing on the type of screen that the iphone has.
I get around 60-70 words per minute on my iPhone if i recall correctly.
PersonNo1 2 years ago
Yeah I think its faster too. I am not really bothered by typos because almost all the typos are make are corrected by the phone.

@PersonNo1 i second that, i normally get around that as well on mine, and ive only had my 3Gs for just over a month

Hi PeeeWeee92... I'm having a tough time following you on this thread. What device are you using to post these comments?
I would like to understand you prefer the following people do not benefit from a product like the iTwinge:
* People that find it difficult to type on or are transition to and iPhone
* Visually Impaired people that use the iPhone's Voice Over (Check it out) feature, that the itwinge can really help
* People that have nervous system issues & have a hard time typing
Succeed!
