  • Holy shit! This is like heaven! They're all fuckin great....and they look so happy. God bless em all.

    1

  • all of them stamping their left feet in near perfect time

  • George is a Master..God rest his soul..it was terrable loss, listen to him and learn.Sweet Jesus thank you for giving the Beatles to me in 1963.

  • Question, Whens the last time you saw a bunch of todays entertainers get together for a Session ?? Hell these people enjoyed their music and fans...

  • @fitz3511 Eric Claptons Crossroads tour.

  • obviously Roseanne Cash, sitting next to Eric and Ringo, is here cause her daddy, Johnny couldn't make it...

  • i coudn't be happier searching rodney crowell on youtube. i know he's not in here but i found this video in the suggestions and ho-ly shit. this is very cool.

  • 3 babes didn't shake!

  • lee rocker!

  • Not much people would mention George as a good rockabilly musician, but you can see here how he managed it.

  • @collins320 I'd be interested in seeing it. I guess Matchbox is more of a blues based shuffle, thus the reason Clapton is probably a little more at ease. One thing though: he can't play rockabilly to save his life. Far too blues based, and not really a 'fun' player; by that I mean he's far too serious.

  • Brian Setzer is missing..

  • @santanabrandon11 Back in the 80's I met Brian's Brother "Barry" he's also a good picker. Well 2 outa 3 aint bad

  • Whos on bass? Lee Rocker?

  • @Kockabilly Sure is!

  • Still can't believe that three (3) people did not like this video. It is a must see DVD and a great collection of musicians. Long live Rockabilly...the Stray Cats tried to get it going but didn't seem to catch on then...maybe now is the time !

  • George Harrison and Dave Edmunds look like they're having an absolute ball! Love the sound Geroge is getting from that 1957 Gretsch 6120. Poor old Eric Clapton looks right out of his depth - not comfortable with what he's playing, and a bit intimidated by the style of music he's playing. He looks a bit lost...

  • @FlamingTrashInc I agree about Clapton, he doesn't have the charm and depth of his friend George, poor thing. As you say, George and Dave Edmunds get along like a house on fire and Carl Perkins absolutely loves George. It's fabulous to see George basking in the love and approval and to hear his voice - also fabuous and so strong. He was made to sing rockabilly, I think. I haven't seen him this happy since the early Beatles when he took a solo on Til There Was You - on a similar guitar?

  • Que maravilla !!!

    Marvellous

  • if Carl Perkins didn't thing George was a talented musician, he certainly wouldn't have invited him. there are lots of musicians out there who'd love to play with a legend, but George clearly is proven yet again to be something special. He may not be he most skilled, fancy guitarist ever, but that's not what matters in rock n roll- it's about fitting the song and singing and playing with feeling.

  • I would have loved to have been able to be here... I love these guys

  • Wow I've got goose bumps just listening ......................they sound great these guys having fun

  • George loved opening up that vocal lead, pure respect from a man who was a legend ,looking at his own legend

  • Many, many Thanks for posting this, don't believe we will ever see the likes of this group again...I watch these over and over again seems I never get tired of them, but boy how I wish I had been there...

  • What was the first song they played?

  • Goes to prove there are 3 tone deaf people that have no life to dis this video

  • hahaha watching George turn his head back to Clapton with those eyes as if saying "this is exciting! isn't this exciting? i'm excited!" and Clapton's just smiling and nodding...

  • ringo looks like sylvester stallone hahahaha :D

  • carl perkins, george harrison and eric clapton = best combo imaginable

  • @papstbenni DOn't forget King David Edmunds - the musical director on the night!

  • Did I mention all my friends are boppin the blues.....I must be rhythm bound...

Carl and George in Rockabilly Heaven... say hi to all the boys for me.... Gene and Eddie, Big O and the rest. RIP

  • Who is that between George and Carl? I'm blankin out here.

  • @louswire Dave Edmunds, a well known UK rocker/producer

  • @louswire I think it may be Phil Everly

  • @louswire Might be Phil Everly

  • @louswire Might be Phil Everly

  • a magic moment

  • hell they is enjoying play about as much as i am enjoying watching

  • Dave Edmunds looks like he is in love with George :D:D:D

  • Beatles couldn't play their instruments???!!!!

I saw them and they damn well could!

  • @moproducer: did it ever occur to you that Roseanne is there because Carl wanted her there? If it's good enough for Carl, it sure as hell is good enough for any of us. The reason this special is so great was because it's with hand picked friends of Carl's. And she's hardly there for her name...pandering to a "name" HA. You really think the producers needed Roseanne Cash there for her name? You got freaking George Harrison and Eric Clapton sitting here. Hysterical.

  • powerfull, dynamite, tremendous !!

  • What is the name/title of this song at the begining?

  • @Dzinghiskan glad all over

  • Comment removed

  • Carl Perkins and his Friends; the Rockablilly Session "Blue Suede Shoes in 1985"

It's the greatest Special-Show in this combination; you can buy it on DVD *rare*

  • Comment removed

  • You could see the unbridled joy on George's face and demeanor throughout this special. I've never seen him as animated before -- ever. There's no secret how much he worshipped Carl so this must have been just glorious for him.

  • George Harrison was awesome

  • The best--- Thats all I can say just the very best -never again will this world see and hear the likes of them. Thank You for posting I sure hope it stays here for ever

  • What is the name of the the first song they play on this video? Thanks for posting I love it.

  • @flatpicker9972 "Glad All Over" written in 1957 by Aaron Schroeder, Roy Bennett & Sid Tepper. First recorded by Carl Perkins in 1957, and he also sung the song in the movie Jamboree.

  • Why the hell is Rosanne Cash in this? Is this one of those "what's wrong with this picture" games?

  • @moproducer yeah, what would Johnny Cash's daughter have anything to do with a rockabilly session?

    just messing :o)

either way, she harmonizes well and is pretty, so i vote she stays

  • @mistersnaredrum Well...while we're there, why not add Sha-Na-NA. Brian Setzer, etc., etc., etc. I don't really understand what Roseanne Cash ever did for rockabilly (other than being someone's daughter) , and I sure as heck don't think she's made half the footprint of any single artist seen on this program.

But she's JC's daughter, and that will buy her lunch for the rest of her life, I guess. It helps to be born with a name.

  • @moproducer she has as much right to be there as dave edmunds, musically. or the stray cats.

doesn't George look happy though? :o)

  • @mistersnaredrum If her being there makes you & George happy, it's completely worth it. But the only reason she's there is that she's the daughter of a rockabilly star. Sorry, I'm not thrilled when an event like this panders to a "name". I guess my sense of fairness says it belongs to the people who brought it here and those who nurtured it along.

Besides, I wouldn't open a window to hear Roseanne Cash sing Ave Maria. Overpaid, underworked, half the talent & twice the fat of her peers.

  • Excellent, George looks happy as can be. 5 stars for this.

  • WONDERFUL! LOVE THIS WITH MY VERY FAVOURITE BEATLE GEORGE HARRISON!!

  • this is music and talent

  • thank you for posting this takes me back to when I was young

  • ahhh man! ringo's playing tamborine?! Must bring back bad memories of the Love Me Do session!

  • Eric Clapton looks kinda bummed in this video. Maybe its because he didnt get to sit next to carl Perkins.

  • This is awesome!!! Dam I can't figure out who that is between Carl and George? Someone refresh my memory please.......Peace:)

  • @peacemanken Dave Edmunds

  • for all those people out there that said the Beatles really couldnt play their instruments,,,,watch George Harrison here and learn from the master...his licks are tasty and sweeeeet!

  • @NonStopRocker .....i thought it was well established that the beatles could play and better than probs anyone, i never heard anyone say they coul'nt play....... this is brilliant

  • @NonStopRocker Yeah, it always troubled me that people actually said that about The Beatles. There nut's. How did that come about? Beatles could play the heck out of their instruments. Happy New Year.

  • @NonStopRocker Well said my friend!

  • @NonStopRocker

I think both sides are right. None of the Beatles could boast a tremendous amount of technical skill on their instruments, but they played riffs that made musical sense and were within their ability.

  • shake it baby shake it!!!

  • man,,, what a great stage full of some of the best artists ever....thank you for posting... RIP Mr Perkins...

  • Ha Ha Ha George is like a kid in a candy store

  • 2:50 These Guys Kill It Ledgends Jammin Right Out Brapp Brapp!

  • Is the bass player Lee Rocker?

  • Yes. Slim Jim is there too along with Earl Slick.

  • This is wonderful! Too bad there's no Johnny Cash ... Ricky Nelson ... Elvis ...

  • im always fucking up on " Thats alright mama" the middle part stresses me alot?

  • Remember Dave's hit in the 1971- "I Hear You Knocking"? That was John Lennon's favorite song at the moment.

He also played with Robert Plant on the old Elvis Song "Little Sister".

  • What a group - thanks for this fabulous post. Hats off to the bass player and the sound guys. The rest goes without saying

  • It was fantastic that this wonderful gig in on youtube. They were great.

  • I just love these guys and the whole Beatle thing LOVE IT.

  • you can tell this was really george's kind of music!!

  • rockabilly rules

  • Love this stuff

  • Boy George? Never knew he was a Beatle ;-)

  • he wasn't, that's why... Boy George was born in 61, so no chance!

  • this is in 1981. he meant Boy. George looks happy.

  • woops, sorry, no offence ment!

  • no offense taking. it just seemed funny to me.

  • this is epic

  • George did love rockabilly.

  • at 14 it is halarious who is that takin a drink of beer im sry that i don't no but that is awsome lets u no its a real jam session

  • its slim jim phantom, the drummer of the stray cats.

  • And Lee Rocker, but I guess Setzer slept this one off ...

  • Who is that between Carl and George? John Fogarty maybe?

  • Dave Edmunds

  • dave edmunds from the stray cats I think

  • Nononono - Dave Edmunds has never been a Stray Cat..! Stray Cats was a British band - Edmunds is an American:-)

  • Completely backwards-

Stray Cats are from New York, Edmunds is a brit (Welsh) and former member of Love Sculpture and Rockpile

  • My Bad - George also. This is good stuff!

  • See this is what you tube is all about. I have been so blessed to see Eric and Carl together. How cool!

  • Is that Dave Edmonds between Carl and George, on acoustic guitar? Looks like him.

  • Thats him indeed and Lee Rocker (Straycats) on bass.

  • This is sensational stuff seeing some of the biggest names in rock history together.

  • Looks like Ringo was air drums. Give the man a drum, people!

George looks as happy as could be. None of that reserved, 'quiet Beatle' stuff here. My earliest memory was seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 1964. I was 4. Love their early stuff, and the old rock&roll covers they did. That's the music they made their name with in Hamburg and at the Cavern Club.

  • lol.. george had his "its him" idol moment there with Carl.. "umm Carl you remember this one don't you??" i love it!

  • I could not have explained it any better. I saw george looking, watching with the admiration in his eyes. Complete respect and awe. you really nailed it with your explanation

  • Well put, Beatlesgirl1980. This sure makes you feel Glad all over. I remember it so well when this show was first aired on TV here in Sweden back in the summer of ´86. It was everybody forgetting about their star egos and indulging in the pure joy of music. The high point of the show, IMO, was Carl Perkins and Rosanne Cash singin Jackson.

  • vive le rock and roll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It does not come much better than this -

  • This is Rocka BIlly !!!! Greeeat Music

  • this is absolute magic...free prozac absorbed through the ears!!

  • i wish they were all on stage again.rock lives on.

  • So do I,but it seems Death is stronger.Carl and Keith are left us.

  • George and The Beatles cut their teeth on this kind of music. Listen to their version on The Beatles At The BBC

  • Wow, I didn't realize George was so good playing rockabilly. Great jam session!

  • Thanks

  • thats some good music jimmy kansas city get down man.

  • Great shit, Carls voice always reminded me of an old black dude blues singer. Nobody can sing the blues like them old African american guys, but Carl is pretty great...all the musicians up there are great

  • great rockabilly fun,i was into stray cats then, and by this time they had split so good to see jim and lee involved, bedt brian setzer was kicking himself not taking part.god bless you carl,i bet heavens rocking most friday nights.who have you got;jimi hendrix on lead guitar, jon bonham on drums, janis joplin on vocals, and a geezer called freddie on piano and backing vocals.save me a place baby im on my way!!!
