  • That is just amazing. Lots of different bird calls in there. Great footage. Thanks for posting it.

  • My Parents are in East maitland NSW...and when it rains, a Butcher Bird comes in under their back verandah and sings, just like yours does.... amazing.

  • Cute, cute, cute, cute, cute x1000

  • we have a family of three that visit us daily, the mother, the father and the Junvenile which is brown and white in colour.

i give them a little bit of raw mince daily which they are quite happy to take from my hand. i only have to walk out onto our Deck, and whistle and they come down straight away for their little bit of meat.

the juvenile will come down at times and whistle to let me know he is there waiting for his feed. also coming right up to the window to let me know he is here !

  • Sweet! Thanks for sharing.

  • Amazing bird calls great stuff

  • It seems the lyre bird has some stiff competition :P

  • :) nice video. we've also got a local butcherbird that does a great currawong "remix"

Great little birds that love to sing their lungs out !!

  • I've heard young maggies do that sort of thing too. I rate Butchers and Maggies as having the most beautiful songs of all birds.

  • Maggies are actually the largest member of the butcherbird family

  • so cool

  • wow that's amazing!

  • Just heard one in our garden, and I suspected he was imitating other birds.

Glad to know I was right.

Thanks for posting that video..it's lovely

  • so beautiful....

  • i love at 0:55 the dove noise hahaha !!!! i love butcher birds they've got the most unique calls other than the immitating this ones doing, cute =]

  • i love these guys, we have so many in our backyard and i could lie in bed all day and listen to them sing, theyre simply beautiful

  • Nice job! That's a great bird and an excellent vid. Why do maggies and butchies like to stand on one leg so often? I don't know but it sure is fascinating...

  • Simple explanation really, they expend less energy in doing so.
