  • Jayne Mansfield was no dumb blonde. She had high IQ and played the piano and violin. She loved children and was a good mom.She did alot to get publicity but for that time every actor did.RIP Jayne You would be very proud of Mariska.

  • @Desiree50able I agree......thanks.......

  • People think that she was decapitated. She wasnt. Her wig was found in the road and the rumor got started. A litle bit before this, she pretended to be (or was) a satan worshipper for publicity.Never a good move. Not really going to endear you in the hearts of the public.

  • @murraymae You got that right......

  • I should add, Jaynie is a hometown girl for me. She's buried not far from me. She was before my time but I love her.

  • @Soleman92 The good die young.......sad.....

  • @johnwaynebaxter So true. She wasn't really all that glitzy, as the magazines and tabloids back had portrayed her. She was really a down to earth lady. She was involved with her church and made sure her children went to Sunday School every Sunday. She actually loved being home and taking care of her family. This is why they say "Never judge a book by it's cover". Even though she had that "sex symbol look" she was actually a good, down to earth lady, & loved a simple life. RIP, Jaynie. XO..

  • @JoLeana76 She was a good mother and tried to do her best for her children....

  • I'm confused now. I thought the crash occured just after the bridge but then why would there be a marker at this spot? Either way, thanks for posting this.

  • @Soleman92 You may be right.....I hear that the marker may be moved to the correct spot soon....if that happens, I'll shoot another video...thanks...

  • @johnwaynebaxter I checked it out on Google Maps, John and I believe you had the right spot. But please let us know if you find out differently.

  • @Soleman92 I will......I think the cross and marker will be moved.....I believe it will be moved to a location about 1 mile west of the Rigolets Bridge......keep in touch....

  • Thanks for the video, from what I read I thought the crash happened at the first curve after crossing the bridge, not 6 miles away from it. Also that site is in New Orleans, once you cross the bridge you're in New Orleans

  • @Mikejesmike Thanks Mike. You may be right. Google "the death of jayne mansfield discussion forum" and read what folks say. If you still agree that the white cross is in the wrong place, let me know. I'll go back out there and make another video of the correct location. Get back with me. Thanks, Wayne....

  • @johnwaynebaxter Never saw the car I wasn't born at that time... But the y have photos of when he owned it... It really interesting how something so significant could end up here in Arkansas from California

  • @Tynlinz I know what you mean. Maybe the car can be a reminder to us all to slow down in heavy fog.

  • If anyone knows how to put some still images of this memorial on the net to be pulled up by google images, please do so. I don't know how to do it; I've tried, but nothing seems to work.

  • @falcondriver100 The car was sold to my gf uncle years ago in Arkansas it then ended up in a museum in Florida where it rested for 18 or so years. It has since then changed hands several times through auctions. It is now owned by a collector but I'm not sure who

  • @Tynlinz Did you ever see the car?

  • This was such a tragedy.

  • So there's your car, right about where the '67 Buick Electra ended up, with most of its top crunched, and a dead chihuahua or two lying around, and Mariska Hargitay in the back seat with her siblings, still alive.

  • @hebneh The young kid driving the car had no clue of the danger of thick fog and high speed mixed together. Maybe this tragedy will be a reminder to save lives in the future.

  • Anyone have any idea what happened to the car? Where it is?

  • @falcondriver100 A private collector has it now, You can google the guy's name and address.

  • Thanks for the video, very interesting. Wonder why no marker like at the James Dean crash site

  • @moonshinegrrl The dean marker is made of stone, but it is much farther from the actual crash site than the Mansfield marker made of wood and stone.

  • magic

  • @43lochness Thanks...

  • Neat!

  • @minicoopermadman Thanks...

  • thanks for posting

  • thanks for taking the time to make this video.rest in peace janey.you will be missed

  • @grringgo Thank you too for watching my video; have you been to the site yet?

  • Excellent video.

  • @aedgar5000 Thank you. If you get a chance to go to the site, place some more flowers. Jayne liked flowers they say,

  • Thank you for the video

  • @Nandoxil Thanks for viewing. I wish someone would put some still photos of this memorial on the net so more people would remember Jayne.

  • Glad to see a marker. People will notice, and then remember.

  • @staticview That;s true. She was a good mother and a good person. Maybe someone will put some stills on google images. I don't know how to do it.

  • We found the big white cross marker very close to where we determined the crash occured. The marker was very nice and the stone there was accurate with the date and time. I may return with some flowers later when we travel that way to New Orleans in the future.

  • Thanks for the very good video. Just wondering, were you able to determine the crash site before seeing the marker? I have a copy of the original police report, but it's a bit contradictory. The location in this video is much closer to the location I measured sometime back.

  • @OldeTowneSlidell The marker is about 178 feet from the actual crash site. This is a good location for the memorial as it is in a safe place for traffic to stop and pay respects. I am glad to see folks are stopping and placing beads, flowers, and other items showing that they remember Jayne and remember her as a good mother and a good person. She went through good times and hard times, but she always was always there for her children. Sometimes good folks are taken away from this life early.
