  • A Jason V albuum is what got me back into playing classical gutiar after a 15 year break. I finally got the chance to meet him in person a few months ago in Fort Wayne at the Embassy. I had all sorts of intelligent things to say and ask but nothing came out but "hi". Starstruck, I guess.

  • This is the venue that the guitar is made for. Small and maybe a bit dead, but if you listen into the guitar... it has a Carnegie Hall inside of it.

It's like a metaphor for life made out of wood.

  • I love that sound :D is so CLEAN :D

  • In likes and dislikes bar it seems someone won a Meet & Greet with Justin Bieber.

  • I LOVE CAPRICHO ARABE

  • I like the sound is sweet and sad together.

  • Oh NPR, consistently viewing classical music "though the looking glass" so to speak vis-a-vis the description, "a huge appetite for diverse music," when indeed any serious classical guitarist or musician need learn diverse music to even be accepted to the music conservatoires. At least they bring us wonderful concerts like this :)

  • @GyveTurckee You sir, have a nice range of vocabulary.

  • I use ping pong nails too, it I have to say that works wonderful, I rather prefer them than my own nails! :P

  • badass

  • lovely video.thanks a million!!!!

    classical guitar is so beautiful

  • His Wagner guitar sounds like a dream!

  • This has totally inspired me to apply to Curtis just to be taught by him. What a genius!

  • whats whating on his right hand?!?!

  • I noticed the book on Roy Orbison in the background entitled, "The Soul of Rock'n'Roll". Jason is definitely the soul of classical guitar. Absolutely gorgeous performances. When I practice, I have a recording of him playing the piece to guide me. I notice how much thought goes into every note. I would've loved to hear his Albeniz. His Sevilla is like listening to an orchestra. His Cordoba delicious. His Torre Bermeja just rocks the house! Thanks Jason! You're an inspiration!

  • @poupee58 Are you talking nonsense to get a rise out of people or are just a musical ignoramus?

  • @Dageryy

his names "poupee" what do you think?

  • @poupee58 It seems to me that you"Feel"Like are a very unfulfilled soul when it comes to music.I have come accross at least a dozen hurtful comments from you about some of the greatest musicians.Do you feel frustrated to think that you know SO MUCH about the Guitar from your countless hours of internet surfing, spending hundreds on dozens of books, and yet you are still "always a bridesmaid never a bride"?Channel all your frsutration into your OWN craft and you'll learn to apreciate that of others

  • @mindaflame7 Poupee's name is befitting!

  • @poupee58 Your live must be a pain in the ass? Poupee58??? Are you Chucky???

  • I don't know if I like these new-fangled classical guitar musics. Soooo pop-ish.

  • Just awesome!!!

  • best version of prelude ive ever heard

    sorry mista bream

and dude his thumbnail is craazyyy

    i freakin saw it irl

thought he used growth hormones or some ishh

  • @dannybOMFG not the thumbnail. its a piece of a ping pong ball

  • love Vieaux!! think the ping pong ball is glued to the top of his thumb, not the bottom-side like the man who introduced him said. idk? You can always count on Vieaux to explain the history of a piece. His concerts are like history lessons at times. He has great tone, but I think they did throw a little reverb on the sound file afterward, but just for the pieces, not the discussions in between. Not to take anything away from him tho!!!

  • @synthad1 My instructor started the pong way back in the day, and yes, you have to glue it to the bottom or you'll pluck it right off.

  • One of the most interesting classical guitarists around. A very enjoyable performance in a very enjoyable series. Thanks NPR for posting it.

  • It has serious technical problems. Are defects who started playing the wrong way

  • and THAT is why Rock and Roll, is just awesome. :)

  • @josicritter What does my personal preference have to do with my education? Thanks a lot for that. Travel well.

  • The most delightful 16 minutes I've ever spent on YouTube. Many thanks!

  • I met Jason in Cleveland years ago! He's amazing!!!

  • in awe of Bach? aren't we all!!

  • I think He is Amaxing

    oops

    i speled tat wong

    I am NOT CHINESE

    YOU ARE CHINESE

  • jizzworthy

  • I kinda like that the space is dry. It's quite a change from how we normally hear him. I think it's easier to imagine what it would be like to be sitting right next to him during a lesson. In the Prelude you can really hear him digging in and large spaces like halls and cathedrals smooth that out. Nice to hear him "in the raw!"

  • Do you think the fact that he is in a more dead space also effects his tempos and or phrasing choices?

  • Most likely. I have no idea what kind of room he prefers to practice in when he has a choice but it's inevitable that he ends up having to in dead hotel rooms and green rooms. Since he has recorded his last few albums at that monstrous cathedral in Cleveland, that's the sound that most of us know and it's well known that he considers the room part of his instrument. I'm sure to be a truly rounded player one must be comfortable in both environs but we're only human!

  • great guitar made by Gernot Wagner!

  • Greatly agreed upon. When I have enough money I am going to buy a guitar from him.

  • What is the point of having a tiny desk concert? Why does he have to sit in a tiny room behind a desk? Why can't they just have him play in a studio or some other room that is not as acoustically dead as this one?

  • Too amazing for words. He's an incredible guy.

  • awesome video. You can hear the amazing presence, body, and warmth of his sound, even in this little office which looks acoustically dead. I know he records his CD's in a cathedral in Cleveland but he certainly doesn't need any help from reverb to render a stunning performance.

  • wow, it sounds so beautiful.
