  • Is playing Violin to hard?

  • You guys rock

  • I want stylophone tuned music in my funural.

  • Lovely! Beatiful song ofcourse, but this is the shit, you guys put your instrument to good use! And fuck originals or not... I'll just buy a new one. "Analog is better than digital blablabla". I think Bach will chuckle about this ^^ Keep up the good work and work out more pieces of great composers!!!!!!

  • 0:51 "vittu" perus :D

  • this is really cool. :) but next time, use a tripod!!

  • Wow. Love this song. And this is just very nice cover :)

    I got a ripoff stylophone ^^

  • one word, stylophone kid

  • super... bravo... j'adore !!!

  • whats wrong with the guy in the middle "?

  • The new ones are analog too, not just the old ones!

  • @TheThievingBeggars

    No they aren't.

  • what tabs are you playing?

  • @tiptopgolfy

We don't use tabs. We read note sheets.

  • Amazing!

  • just bought one from thinkgeek cant wait till it gets here!

  • wonderful, i hope i will have this week stylophone too

  • I just ordered a brand new one, but I will get an original when the opportunity is right!

  • @plungerdrum: It's great that you can practise with the new one until you get a real stylophone. It's a nice little instrument. Hope you enjoy it.

  • great!, let's hear the whole piece....

  • Reproduction theremins sound nothing like the vaccum tube original, yet people still buy and use them. That is why the theremin is relatively more well-known than the stylophone, because there is more exposure. When period facism is allowed to exist, things like this will fade into obscurity.

  • FWIW the biggest difference between the repro theremins and the original ones isn't so much the amplification technology used but the method of generating the sound. 99.999% of the theremins on the market today use an LDR to modulate the pitch of a triangle wave (with the waveshape staying the same shape at the low and high ends of the spectrum.) The theremin that we all know and love uses two HF sine waves with only one sine waves pitch being modulated. Or so I hear.

  • We'll still have to thank Robert Moog for preventing the theremin from fading into obscurity with his solid-state models. If only Moog could do the same thing with stylophones...

  • And when all the original '67-'75 stylophones are sold out, what then? Will enthusiasm for the stylophone grind to a halt and die out, just like the three-wheeled Bond minicars? If other not-so-fortunate people cannot own and use cheaper reproduction stylophones, interest for the stylophone, original or not, will inevitably die.

  • sold out? they dont make original stylophones for yeaaaaaars. it's already sold out LOOOL dumb.

But you can still buy them at ebay.

  • What I mean is, when all the originals on ebay and other vintage retail sites are sold, and no more are available for sale, what will become of stylophones as a cultural icon?

  • @DeepFriedDoom: There are so many stylophones out there that you'll always find one.

  • They're pissed coz their vids are being used commercially read the description

  • What is this? Stylophone facism or something?? Some of us had 'originals' years before some of the people in that vid were even born... but because the cost of the originals has escalated to stupid money, the only alternative is the 'reissue'. The more people playing them the better in my opinion, regardless of what model they have.

  • I've got my vintage one now and you're right, it sounds way better. I'm glad I got one :D

  • They're saying the re makes are cheap and nasty I think. It's true, I bought a re make and it broke :( I bought an old one on ebay and hopefully it'll last a little longer than the one from Zavvi!

  • Aye, the remakes ARE cheap AND nasty. But that's not the point, the point is that they do not sound like the originals.

It's difficult to tell if you don't have the vintage to compare the sound but trust me, they sound COMPLETELY different.

The early originals are analog, the new remakes use a 555 chip. nuff said.

  • @TheModCon: Old ones are also easy to repair if something happens to them.

  • It looks like it going at super speed....

  • ok sorry, now i've read your reasons. my mistake. however, it's impossible to get an affordable original stylo in germany, so i ordered a new one over uk online shop. if it sounds too toyish, well, maybe i'd keep on searching for an old one

  • Yeah, its hard to get the new one, the old seems impossible (or expensive)

  • why shall i just buy the old stylophones? anything bad about the new ones? cause i don't need the retro feeling if i can have a 2 years warranty for a brand new product which is cheaper than the old stylos on ebay.

  • On the original stylophones, there's an Amp Output on the left side. Can you plug in headphones? If so, would the internal speaker be bypassed or would it still be on?

  • I have a new stylophone. They're fine for the casual stylophoneist and only about a tenner I reckon it only matters if you're an enthusiast.

  • Wow.. So amazing.. 5 stars!

  • Amazing what they let you guys get up to in prison nowadays, isn't it?

Keep up the good work XX

  • I'm sure Bach would be pleased, or highly confused.

  • You may have seen it but I tried doing a five piece stylophone song =D Check it out if you want.

5 Stars. =D You guys are inspiritational

  • brilliant

  • Excellent arrangement, musically performed. This shouldn't be so interesting, but it's absolutely captivating! The trill at the final cadence cracks me up! More! More!

  • This is what I luv about You Tube.Getting to see and hear brilliant stuff like this.

  • any help on trying to find an original stylophone on the net, fucking brilliant vid also

  • Ebay.

  • fucking rights

  • Awesome - Only became aware of this instrument tonight - Where can I get one in Canada??

  • Ebay

  • it would be great to hear Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor with a Stylophone.

  • Yes! We thought something similar in the Stylophone Orchestra... we've just posted our Bach peice.........

  • Very soft and surprising .... 5 stars ^^

  • genius of the stylophonic orchestra very well done 10/10

    I've bought mine......

  • Blimey, what a nerdy way to spend a Saturday night, LOL

  • LoL honestly... That was cool. ^_^ but I think it would be terrible if these things made a comeback, I think that was mostly awesome because nobody thinks about using them like that (well aparantly a few people do)

  • LOL

  • very nice! wish i had 4 hands + 4 stylophones
