In his time Feller was to pitching what Dimaggio was to center field.Feller was all grace, class and gifted by the hand of God.One could point to his emergence as the beginning of the new era in baseball. Before Feller really is another era.The age of Cy Young,Johnson,Mathewson,Grove and Alexander.
Once Bob Feller arrived in baseball what followed was a new kind of pitcher.Look at Koufax or Juan Marichal, twenty five years later. It's obvious the greats of the 60's were highly influenced by Feller.
RIP MR FELLER, a true legend baseball has lost one of its greats sad sad day
True Class halted a few prime years of his career to serve his country you would never see that now a days (besides pat tillman) the only serving athletes do in todays world regardless of sport is usually jail or prison sentences.
@TheRevolutionCanada Joining his career-long Cleveland Indians(CI) at age 17, for $1/yr, he joined the Navy the day after Pearl Harbor, relinquishing 4 1/2 years in the Majors in his prime. He was honest & worked hard all his life. As a CI fan, tho n Washington DC, I saw him pitch vs the Senators & saw him once up close. He was in full red, white & blue CI uniform, looked magical. He was casually talking w/1 person in the grandstand at the entrance to the upper deck. I paused n awe. Wow TY BOB!
The best ever. Opening Days will never be the same without him. We'll miss but never forget you. Thanks for being such a great guy and American hero. R.I.P. Mr Feller
One of the greatest of All-time. A gentleman. Too bad most of the morons who watch the game today have never heard of him. Cliff Lee couldn't carry his jockstrap.
Yeah I saw the same ones - maybe somebody taking a shot in the dark. I did hear that he was in pretty grave condition but did improve a bit. I would love to see him get enough strength back to get up and fire a high fast ball at whoever wrote the article about him passing. BTW that's a great autogragh to have - he really is a legend even still living!
@DavidSlapsHisBass - The man is still alive. He was admitted to hospice care a few days ago and as of today showed signs of improvement. Feller has always been a fighter and would not want to be counted out while he's still hanging on. Lets hope he spends his final days, months or even years in comfort.
@jim72068 Good to know. I read a couple articles online that said he had passed and then a few that said it was just hospice. Glad to know he is still fighting!
Their will never be another Bob Feller. But there is a kid in the state of Indiana, that is his 3rd cousin. This kid's grandmother is Bob Feller's cousin on her dad's side. She is Rosemarie Feller born in 1928. She has 3 grandson's the oldest is 14 now, he was born 9-5-95, in the face he looks an very much like Bob, he throws right, and can bring it.

RIP BOB, my favorite all time pitcher. You were a great person both on and off the field. They no longer make athletes like you anymore.

He is truly the last link to the golden age of baseball and definitely the best living right hander, yes i'd put him above Ryan.

I love these old footages of baseball. It's too bad about a lot of the modern players and drug use. They have given the sport such a bad reputation.
