@chrism0kundalini Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. I could see Carreys disappointment at hearing that he exhibits conflicting emotions after having spent I don't know how long trying to convey and project the opposite.
Becoming successful and rich as he is now would have to have played a big part in him overcoming his depression. A large part of feeling depressed is being alone and isolated and ignored. If all his success disappeared tomorrow the depression would likely return.
@itsjustmechristoph Oh no, in fact it goes to show how intelligent of a man he is. Thank you Jim Carret! I have manic depression and am a christian. Knowing that you can be yourself is important. I've been in and out of mental hospitals 6 times. I cant go without my medican. I told my doctor I like myself and don't need the meds. But I do. I watched a few of your comic videos and my son has been a fan of yours for years. I figured you would not be spiritual. I'm so glad I was wrong! Take care man and you are the funniest! Love, Meg
Thanks for sharing your heartfelt story and your genuine intent to help others who are struggling. There is nothing more important than fixing the spirit. A man living without his spirit is living death. Nature can help us turn the corner and connect with the magic of life.
For alee, Dude it' not about who did what for who. Like Jim said it all comes to one thing.I have a hard time to believe that only one religion is right and the rest are fals, everything has the right to exist and have a purpose for its existence, they all contane truth. god created everything, everything's part of god. we never went away from the universe. so alee keep an opened mind and believe what your hart tells you. jesus is right and so is budah.

Christianity is nothing like being a buddhist or a muslim. Christ died for you on the cross. What did buddha ever do for you? Jesus said "I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. NO MAN comes to the FATHER except through ME!" You only need to seek God through Jesus. There is no other way.
Praise be to Jesus. Power be to Jesus. Wisdom and Honor be to Jesus. Glory be to Jesus. Might be to Jesus. The LORD be magnified. God is good. Jesus is God. God is love. Jesus saves from the guilt of sin through faith in his precious blood. The LORD be magnified. Jesus is good.
@lasoogneypubes- alot of us feel that way... One way to get the peace n happy feeling again- get connected and give your probs to Jesus.. However cliche' that may sound... One try- if it don't work, then move on... But don't spend your life livin like that- it's not LIFE.. That is NOT living!!!
@Lotusflower281, Yep, pretty basic physics. I can see where the confusion comes in. Our solar system is pretty tight, time & distance-wise. The nearest star is about 4 light years away, Alpha Centauri "A". Although if you want to be picky, our Sun could be classed as a star.
Christian discussion to follow, after I fulfill my financial obligation to the Government and get my taxes done.
@UltraMegaSuperPhil. Got you comment, thanks. I'm in the middle of doing my taxes so I'm kinda strapped for time. Gimme a couple of days and I'll get back to you. I've lost the thread of the conversation but I'll get back up to speed and post a pithy, yet informed, reply.
@lasoogneypubes It is because you are not payint attention to the now, to what's is happening around you, when you start to see that, you will see how beautiful life is, and the comedy the life have to offer.
@lasoogneypubes n i know how you feel, i went through a period of a couple years where id been thinking along the lines of ok, this is it. i still havnt feeled the emotion happiness for a long time, since i was a kid. but peacefulness has taken its place, and on my road to joy with awakening
@lasoogneypubes maybe you just don't believe that you can have your wildest dreams. me my wildest dream seems impossible: to fly in a invisible UFO and travel around simply observing life on earth.
But actually I believe it to be possible. That is why I'm working on getting rich. I made 20k last November and will reinvest that money to work for me to create more money. Then I'll use the money to get closer to the impossible dream. There are NO limits in this universe. Only you limit yourself.
So timely to find this clip... I just watched one of his movies to help me get out of a slump of depression! It was a fun, very silly movie with penguins and his light gave me strenth!! The film was wonderfully silly and it was very clear to me that Jim wanted to convey high quality encouraging energy. His film helped me. He's a strong presence. Thank you, Jim Carrey for being clear and not contributing to the violence in films.
To fix the right channel mute, just turn your head right, left side facing to the speakers. You'll get a feeling that you are listening to this through a shot door though, but at least you don't need to bend over.
@lotusflower. Also, a light year is a measurement of distance, not time. I am assuming that you are using "light year" in your posting as a time reference?
@lotusflower. Wait a minute here. Our sun's rays take about 8 minutes to reach earth, being that the sun is approximately 93 million miles distant. Speed of light is about 186,000 miles per second, do the math.
That look he gives at 2:26 when the interviewer says he as conflicting emotions, that's the first time I've ever seen Jim with a serious face.
On the topic of depression, you'd be surprised how many comedians suffer or have suffered from it, including Stephen Fry, Ruby Wax, Jennifer Saunders to name a few. Probably a lot of actors too that don't talk about it in public. just goes to show us 'regular' folks aren't alone.
Let me revide one of my points. A faith doesn't even have to be a belief system. It can simply be a vague sense of something that a person puts faith in. Faith =/= religion.
A dogma can consist of values that are unethical, but of course ultimately, it comes down to the person's ability to interpret these. Depending on how literal your interpretation is, the specific qualities of these dogma become more or less apparent.
Having a faith is not something that is simply derived from a supernatural sense, or supersitition, but rather something that connects to the way a person thinks about life and the universe in general.
Okay, let me explain this to any putrescent piece of shit who doesn't know what's what.
A faith is a belief system that is based on perceived transcendant qualities in nature. It's distinctly grounded in the individual's sense of fate or sense of purpose in life.
Neither an ideology or a faith is strictly a moral philosophy, but as a whole it ties into any values that a person carries, and can be aquired from that certain perspective.
Some people have a hard time dealing with the brain washing anti-christian garbage that hollywood makes them swallow to be succesful or even to survive there.
u notice that jim carrey has that Ora of goodness? i've loved this guy since i was a kid and after this interview i understand why. you just get that sense of goodness of him
Yup yup,,,when you buy into someone's reality...there ya go. Guess what happens when you buy into the human reality. Organic bodies, 2am feedings, bills, success. poverty. This universe is a trip but you buy the ticket you get on the ride and hold on tight..lifetime after lifetime. It's a great game but you have to have and keep the reality of the player...not the reality of the playee.
You may love this. My name is Michael Raymond Hernandez = 23
and yes, I do tell.
You as a spiritual being bought into this so very long ago as we all did. You made a conscious decision as we all did to take the ride. Right now I'm playing the part of disabled Michael Hernandez. Right now you're playing your part as ________.
Next life it will be another part. Actors all in this great big plaything we call universe. Before this it was the last universe with other acting gigs, everyone to their own parts life after life after life. It may seem insensitive and I don't mean to be but those starving people who I cried about in African when I was 13 I now know are playing their parts.
These all are games universes. Like Monopoly we all get our pieces (organic bodies) as we are born into them and do what we will. Some of us have quite a bit of horsepower and rise to the top in our respective lives. Some not so. I still give money to those on the street in need even thought I'm what's called poor myself. Oh well...we all play the game no matter who we are.
"I only act in the movies" great quote. Words of wisdom coming from someone like Jim Carrey just somehow seem more understanding and believable... I personally love what he has to say and can't get enough. It's helpful to me, one person he doesn't even know exists so imagine how many people he has helped with his sincere thoughts on spirituality, enlightenment, etc. That there is what life is really all about. IMO. (*¯︶¯*)
Seems like Jim Carrey is in denial here about his depression. He seems to have a lot of guilt about being depressed, and thinks that by stopping the medication, he's in control of his life. But things seem to only spiral downward.
He sounds like Ghandi when he says he's a Muslim, a Christian, a Buddhist, etc. =) I believe there's a spiritual side to life and that we all have our different ways of experiencing it.
@lotusflower281 there is no spiritual side to life. by saying that you are saying that there is a side that is not spiritual. truth of the matter is, life has no in-built reason to be anything but... what it is lol! Us human just.. well, like to give it our own meanings ;)
@ncripzx But that is your opinion. You don't believe there's a spiritual side to life, but I do. You can talk till you're blue in the face but that's what I feel and believe :)
@lotusflower281 Ha I never disagreed. Listen to what I am actually saying. I am awakened myself and any spiritual talker or quantum physicist will tell you: The physical world around you doesn't exhibit built-in definitions/beliefs/meanings :) They exist only in your mind to make sense of the physical world around you. There is no such thing as a human being. No one knows what we are, but someone decided to name it the name Human Being! There is no 'out there' as such. Just here and now. See?
@ncripzx I think you mean 'read' what I am actually saying, not 'listen to' :) I think I understand what you are saying, basically that language is biased and that what we know is what we give meaning to with language. But how can there only be the 'here and now' when we have different time zones? And light years in space? Time is not static, especially when the sun's rays are thousands of years old by the time they reach us. We only make time static by things like clocks and 'ideas' of time.
The thing about religions...is they are all correct. All the holy scriptures, of any religion, are is how someone viewed an event and what they took away from it. So when you defend the historical truth of a religion, you are really undermining the true purpose of it, which is the passing of wisdom.
Face facts people. You cannot prove the past and you cannot predict the future. However, you can use the present to influence your future and use history to determine what you think is best.
Well, I'm glad for him to be leaving cults altogether. But one cannot call oneself a budhist and a christian simultaneously. That's silly. It's like, Im not sure if this god's real, so I'll invest my beief in this and that and those. Like an insurance policy.
Jim. Just say it. Religion is fucking stupid, and you're an atheist. Simple.
I didnt say he's an atheist for sure. But he's in denial. Either all the gods he speaks of are true, or none of them are. We're talking about thousands of gods. I seriously doubt he adheres to this thinking. So if he thinks none of them are true, then he's an atheist. It's simple deduction man. Logic!
nah. I know what agnosticism is. I've had countless amounts of debates on this. Agnosticism IS correct in theory. But in practice, it's moot, pointless drivel.
By allowing the possibility of a god to exist just because we know/or dont know that he/she/it exists, allows the possibility of EVERYTHING being supernatural to potentiall exist.
Do you think there's a possibility that Leprechauns exist? How do you know? You dont. Therefore, they're possible.
If you've had countless debates about agnosticism, I'm surprised your understanding isn't better. The central point of agnosticism is that no matter what we want to believe about the existence or absence of God(s), we cannot truthfully prove it does or doesn't exist. Atheists ignore this, they state they "know" there is no God, which is baloney. Yes, this does mean there is a possibility of other supernatural beings, but that's all it is, a possibility.
I repeat. I ntheory it HAS to be the case. But in practice, it fails.
Do you know if there are Elvis Presley impersonating Pixies on another planet?
Of course you dont. Also, entertaining the thought of Elvis Presley Impersonator pixies is ridiculous. But fair game nonetheless. In theory at least. But in practice, it's moot, unproductive and just silly. But you HAVE to consider it theoretically.
Same applies to god(s).
Why create a possibility for a thing's existence if-
The truth is never redundant. Yes, there is a possibility that Elvis Presley is impersonating the Pixies on another planet. It doesn't matter how ridiculous you make your possibilities, they still remain just that, possibilities. Please understand that because something might exist doesn't mean that it actually exists.You shouldn't leave the truth out of the discussion because it's inconvenient to you, and the truth is that atheism is a belief, not based on fact.
I agree. Atheism is a belief. Because that's all that it can be. BUt just as much as Pink Pixies from Oompa Loompa land are a belief that their existence is possible.
Being an agnostic you have to adhere to this way of thinking. And it makes you look like a jack ass. Im sorry, but it does man.
And purple goblins with noses in the arseholes. I can go on and on and you HAVE to consider all of these hypothecies. I mean, you don't know....
I'm glad you agree that atheism is a belief. However, again you get it wrong when it comes to agnosticism. Just because I CAN believe in something, doesn't mean I DO believe in something.
Using your pink pixies from oompa loompa land example, I don't think they exist, yet I am still an agnostic. What agnosticism means is that I can't claim to KNOW they don't exist, but it doesn't force you believe in every possibility.
"HOW do you know they dont exist? How? Please explain." Please stop jumping to conclusions. What I said is I cannot "claim to know" they don't exist. In other words, if I said I knew a supernatural being existed or didn't exist, I'd be lying, and so would anyone else. As Socrates put it "All I know is that I know nothing". However, religion has its place, so long as people grasp the difference between belief and knowledge.
@blahdelablah atheism is not a belief. the common sense that reveals something doesn't exist is not a belief. it is a fact. the dude called God simply doesn't exhibit the quality of existing therefore it is in non-existence. that which is outside of existence cannot exist. think about what you are saying man! but ofc do not forget that when you respond you are communicating with YOUR version of me, which is all in your mind. You cannot know for a fact I exist outside of you. strange huh
Your statement is not logical. What you're essentially saying is that if God doesn't exist in your mind, then it doesn't exist. What about all those other things that aren't in your mind yet (people you've never met, etc...), do they exist? Atheism is a belief because you can't prove that it's true. So you see, you are no more informed about the truth than the religious people you oppose, all you have is your point of view, and no way to completely validate it.
But you can argue wetehr it's true or false. And you're still left lack of evidence other than personal experience. But look. I dont care what one believes in. As long as it doesnt involve me. As long as it doesnt infringe on my way of life. That's why I'm so vociferous against religions. Becasue they DO affect my life. If I was running for office, I'd HAVE to believe in somehithing. Anything. For me to get into politics.
@Domzdream Just like ideology, faith can be a moral philosophy, based on reason and comtemplation. Just because you know there are "bad" religions or faiths, that doesn't mean every religion or every faith is. It's not a logical position to assume such.
@dujl Why don't you just be honest and say that the "bad religion" you are talking about is Islam? I'll give you a logic lesson (I hope you know what a fallacy is?) First, ideology is not a moral philosophy, and neither is having a faith. Second, there are no such things as "bad religion" or "bad faith". There are instead, in a language you can understand, bad people. You don't blame Science for scientists having created the atom bomb, now, do you?
Matt Dillahunty spoke about this. How a completely innocuous religion can become mutated, changed, twisted, with new laws implemented, new crazy ass rules and supersticious innitiations and traditions. It can start off as innocently as getting your hair snipped off, as an offering to whatever. Much later, this chopped off hair becomes chopped off genitals (genital mutilation), and worse. I was totally wrong about Buddhism. I had no idea that in this peaceful religion they used to chop-
-Chop off noses, and hands and lips, and many other things. As basic punishments. The thing you understand is that in this reality, in this world, generally, things dont improve. They get worse. Degrade. Change and evolve (or devolve however you want to see this).
Sure Buddhism has changed for the better over the years, but only because society has changed for the better. Im not saying that every religion will go bad. But there's always that chance, thats all.
@Domzdream As I was saying you don't have to have a religion to believe in something. When your belief is simply a part of your own spiritual life and philosophy, then it does not infringe on the rights of others. I believe that people should have the right to do whatever they want with themselves, whether it be mutilation, or drinking their own blood, but when it comes to a point where they would force it upon others, it's gone too far.
Well speaking of shit going too far. You dont think that butchering an infant's genitals isnt going too far? Genital mutilation isnt like getting a face lift man. Especially when it's taken out fo the child's hands due to being too young to decide, or to fight back.
I agree, of you want to hack into your own cock, be my guest, but dont do it to another little person without theri consent. It really IS the dumbest tradition. Im so glad Im whole.
@Domzdream I consider the butchering of complicated issues a heinous crime. Resorting to shitty rhetorics isn't going to get us any closer to the truth in these matters.
@Domzdream Nah, we do that all the time around here. Where I'm from we believe in moral relativism, and most agree that this is a proper course of action. I'm not in favor of moral absolutists who want to tell me what to do.

Let me revide one of my points. A faith doesn't even have to be a belief system. It can simply be a vague sense of something that a person puts faith in. Faith =/= religion.
dujl 1 month ago
A dogma can consist of values that are unethical, but of course ultimately, it comes down to the person's ability to interpret these. Depending on how literal your interpretation is, the specific qualities of these dogma become more or less apparent.
Having a faith is not something that is simply derived from a supernatural sense, or supersitition, but rather something that connects to the way a person thinks about life and the universe in general.
dujl 1 month ago
Okay, let me explain this to any putrescent piece of shit who doesn't know what's what.
A faith is a belief system that is based on perceived transcendant qualities in nature. It's distinctly grounded in the individual's sense of fate or sense of purpose in life.
Neither an ideology or a faith is strictly a moral philosophy, but as a whole it ties into any values that a person carries, and can be aquired from that certain perspective.

@lotusflower281 there is no spiritual side to life. by saying that you are saying that there is a side that is not spiritual. truth of the matter is, life has no in-built reason to be anything but... what it is lol! Us human just.. well, like to give it our own meanings ;)

lotusflower281 1 month ago
@lotusflower281 Ha I never disagreed. Listen to what I am actually saying. I am awakened myself and any spiritual talker or quantum physicist will tell you: The physical world around you doesn't exhibit built-in definitions/beliefs/meanings :) They exist only in your mind to make sense of the physical world around you. There is no such thing as a human being. No one knows what we are, but someone decided to name it the name Human Being! There is no 'out there' as such. Just here and now. See?
ncripzx 1 month ago

Logic!
Domzdream 1 month ago
@Domzdream
Your logic is flawed. Look up what agnosticism is.
blahdelablah 1 month ago
@blahdelablah
Etc.
It's silly.
Domzdream 1 month ago
@Domzdream
Yes, this does mean there is a possibility of other supernatural beings, but that's all it is, a possibility.
blahdelablah 1 month ago
@blahdelablah
Why create a possibility for a thing's existence if-
Domzdream 1 month ago
@blahdelablah
-if it's needless. Again.
You are leaving a pathway of endless possibilities. And endless errors and fails.
Agnosticism in theory is correct, because it HAS to be. But in reality, it's redundant.
Domzdream 1 month ago
@Domzdream
The truth is never redundant. Yes, there is a possibility that Elvis Presley is impersonating the Pixies on another planet. It doesn't matter how ridiculous you make your possibilities, they still remain just that, possibilities. Please understand that because something might exist doesn't mean that it actually exists.You shouldn't leave the truth out of the discussion because it's inconvenient to you, and the truth is that atheism is a belief, not based on fact.
blahdelablah 1 month ago
@blahdelablah
Domzdream 1 month ago
@Domzdream
Hope you're beginning to understand now.
blahdelablah 1 month ago
@blahdelablah
HOW do you know they dont exist? How? Please explain.
Domzdream 1 month ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@Domzdream
However, religion has its place, so long as people grasp the difference between belief and knowledge.
blahdelablah 1 month ago
@blahdelablah atheism is not a belief. the common sense that reveals something doesn't exist is not a belief. it is a fact. the dude called God simply doesn't exhibit the quality of existing therefore it is in non-existence. that which is outside of existence cannot exist. think about what you are saying man! but ofc do not forget that when you respond you are communicating with YOUR version of me, which is all in your mind. You cannot know for a fact I exist outside of you. strange huh
ncripzx 1 month ago
@ncripzx
Your statement is not logical. What you're essentially saying is that if God doesn't exist in your mind, then it doesn't exist. What about all those other things that aren't in your mind yet (people you've never met, etc...), do they exist? Atheism is a belief because you can't prove that it's true. So you see, you are no more informed about the truth than the religious people you oppose, all you have is your point of view, and no way to completely validate it.
blahdelablah 1 month ago
@Domzdream What? He's a spiritual person who believes in "other forces" at work. You don't have to have a religion to have faith in something.
dujl 1 month ago
@dujl
Nah, I know...
Domzdream 1 month ago
@Domzdream Just like ideology, faith can be a moral philosophy, based on reason and comtemplation. Just because you know there are "bad" religions or faiths, that doesn't mean every religion or every faith is. It's not a logical position to assume such.
dujl 1 month ago

I had no idea that in this peaceful religion they used to chop-
Domzdream 1 month ago

-Chop off noses, and hands and lips, and many other things. As basic punishments. The thing you understand is that in this reality, in this world, generally, things dont improve. They get worse. Degrade. Change and evolve (or devolve however you want to see this).
Sure Buddhism has changed for the better over the years, but only because society has changed for the better. Im not saying that every religion will go bad. But there's always that chance, thats all.
Domzdream 1 month ago
@Domzdream As I was saying you don't have to have a religion to believe in something. When your belief is simply a part of your own spiritual life and philosophy, then it does not infringe on the rights of others. I believe that people should have the right to do whatever they want with themselves, whether it be mutilation, or drinking their own blood, but when it comes to a point where they would force it upon others, it's gone too far.
dujl 1 month ago
@dujl
