this took a LOT of work and creative initiative..LOVED it! But what is going on with his ears? Are they really erect...like ALL the time? Loved the video..what a sense of humor you have! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks alot, carolyn0!Glad you enjoyed Bat Dog! I know, his ears are just toooo goofy. The breeder said they may start to flop once he quits teething -- that goodness for gravity! But hey, we just keep telling him the bat ears give him character -- a whole LOT of character! Thanx again...
you are absolutely right! know what else? on the up side...not likely to have ear infections and will definitely hear better than with plain ole floppy ears, right?
They are cropped and tied as puppies for 2-3 months to force them to stand up like that.
It is often done to guard dogs such as shephards to increase an aggressive look. There is not a decrease of infection or improvement of hearing, but can cause pinched nerves or destructive changes in the cartilage over time. Cute but bad for dogs.
Hahaha, that's pretty funny, CombatCat. I'm not sure that a spiked collar or super-big fake fangs could ever make Boomer look aggressive! No we didn't crop or tie his ears when he was a puppy, he was left to grow au-natural. Australian Shepherds' breed standard is for their ears to be flopped over at the tips. Altho he is a purebred, for some reason his ears never flopped and as a 2-year-old now, they still stand as upright as mountain tops! It's all part of his charm!
My aussie has those ears too! silly dogs
