The 'these are not dead' reminds me of Ing tournament rules -- if you disagree about dead stones and choose to keep playing the next time you both pass -- ALL STONES ARE ALIVE. This leads to all kinds of tricky situations where a 30-point territory is now seki since it has one live capture. Ing uses a variant of Chinese counting so you can capture all with same points but you HAVE to do it.
Thankfully very few people have tried to abuse this.
I really enjoy watching your games. I usually play along on a offline board and play out some variations where you go "doot doot doot ..... doot doot doot! I'm alive.", since I can't read quite as fast as you.
"...my first year when I was going through the kuy levels up into dan..." I'm on my fourth(?) year of being kyu now. But hell, I like it. Not trying to become dan, just playing moves that I think are fun. Such as playing tengen as the first move, which I know you hate. >_<
I am not a strong player (~10K), but after you took the 2 stones in the corner I could see he can live in Seki, when you said he is dead I paused the video and kept looking for why I'm wrong on the board, only for you to say he can live there later.
@YuVW Yes. At 17:48 I put in an edit in the form of a speech bubble clarifying he could have lived. I'm afraid during the game i missed it because my brain was split between commenting and playing ^^ It happens.
Thanks for the game. It was interesting to watch.

Just a question:
When he played R1, could he really have lived with Q2?
In my reading you can play Q1. What then?
P1 P2 and its a false eye.
P2 P1 P3 O4 P4 O4 and you are alive. Ugly but alive.
Only if you play P2 Q1 it can become seki? W P1, tenuki, T3 and he still dies, so there is even a threat left.
Message too long for a single comment, hence divided into two.
