The Komodo actually does produce venom, however the bacteria it grows in it's mouth is so virulent and toxic that the little venom the Komodo actually produces doesn't do much more than slow the prey down while the diseases, and the toxins these reptiles nurture in their bloody saliva (Komodo dragon's gums bleed to support their bacterial growth) get to work killing whatever it's bitten.

At least that's what a lot of scientists think.
