@GaaraXRaven No.. It wouldn't have. It wouldn't have been the same, their personalities wouldn't have been the same either. It would have been way to typical.. and annoying if Haku had been a female, if he ended up with the personality and tendencies of a female than it wouldn't have been so deep and lovely because girls obsess over looks. Haku was Haku and completely there for Zabuza and had no problem dying for him. Unlike most of the straight pairings in Naruto, who don't really know love.

About the Haku gender thing, here is my thinking:

Haku is a girl, but Zabuza and Haku both think that if anyone were to know, they would think Zabuza weak for keeping a girl around. And so when Haku says "By the way, im a boy" to Naruto in the forest, its to protect Zabuza in case Naruto saw her face again.

Thats just one theory... probably wrong.
