  • Great stuff in a perfect combo; master Ian Paice, Ludwig Classics with a supraphonic snare and Paiste 2oo2 cymbals

  • EXCELLENT

  • THIS IS A D-R-U-M-M-E-R,!!!

    My god...

Some one said that Travis Baker is a drummer, please !!!!

  • To compare Paice and Bonham is like apples and oranges. Both guys had something the other didn't. I say we're lucky to have them both.

  • IANPAIstE...your are really LeGeNd!...

    KING of SNARE>>!

  • THIS IS THE SHIT< HE SOUNDS LIKE BUDDY RICH A LIL BITT

  • 意外とジョンボーナムとキースムーンはパワー型モーラー奏法なんです!!脇が開くし、ひじが左右に動く!!イアンペイス、テリーボジオはグラッドストーン奏法です!!ひじは止まったままで、脇も開きません!!

  • @Americant47 Absolutely right on...Bonzo wouldn't have been a the drummer for Deep Purple as Ian was, and vice versa......

  • the one and only ian paice, my favorite drummer along with kenny aronoff

  • THANKS WELLBRAN-COOL COMMENT--YEAH MOST DRUMMERS TOOK A STANDARD KIT AND WORKED IT DON BREWER WAS ONE OF THEM..TIKI FULWOOD OF THE FUNKADELIC WAS ANOTHER AND JAMES BROWNS DRUMMER FOR WHICH MANY BRITS GOT THEIR SOULFUL FEEL FROM--but yes most bands back then had at least 1 or 2 band ass musicians in the band -to get a record deal-and it was all about the live presentation...deep purple, elp, yes -sabbath-who-funkadelic-hendrix,rush,mahogany rush, queen, van halen, thin lizzy, etc all great bands live

  • Most early rock drummers had a standard kit to work with Paice was one of the best rock drummers around also they had to do it live week in week out playing around the UK live then europe and world tours another unsung hero from the jazz side of things was Robert wyatt have a look at Wyatt clips on youtube and his kit was no big deal either now its obligatory to have a massive kit on stage...for reasons unknown.

  • the original PAISTE GIANT BEAT CYMBALS ! or maybe formula 602's ??,,either way ..fantastic sound !

  • Although he's my all-time favorite, and #1 influence, I'm disappointed that he dosen't play in this all-out, frantic style anymore. His style has changed since the 80's. If he were to do this today, he'd get a much greater rise from his audience. Same can be said for Palmer.

  • @charlessavarese HEY MAN WITH ALL RESPECT :o) THESE GUYS AREN'T AS YOUNG AS THEY USE TO BE...LOL..GIVE THEM A BREAK BABY BOY...:o) (SMILE) THEY ARE STILL GOOD THOUGH...PEACE

  • @charlessavarese I think the reason that is is because they have matured musically and just dont play with the same reckless abandon as when they were younger. They are just in different periods of their development. We all will experience change as we grow. But I sure do love hearing that all out going for it style of soloing. Very difficult to sustain that power and speed.

  • that was just effing beautifull.....cheers for the post

  • how can someone dislike this???

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!

  • @Americant47 Excellent!

  • @Americant47 WELL FUCKING SAID...THERE ARE MANY GREAT DRUMMERS...EVEN MICK FLEETWOOD IS VERY GOOD--I USE TO THINK EVEN COMPARING HIM TO COBHAM...WHAT A JOKE-BUT I AS GOT OLDER AND MATURED AS A DRUMMER-SETTING BACK IN THE POCKET MAKING THE MUSIC HAPPEN IS A GOOD THING TOO..THATS WHAT GETS YOU GIGS MAKES YOU VERY KNOWN,MAKES YOU STRONGER AS A DRUMMER...THOUGH COBHAM-RICH-TIKI FILWOOD,DENNIS,GADD AND HUNDREDS OF OTHERS..NO 'ONE' DRUMMER CAN JUST HAVE IT ALL(IN A SENSE) GOOD POINT...

  • @TheTayedrums Very true in the old dayd people like Paice were playing week in week out in every venue going in UK YOU HAD TO PLAY LIVE to get seen and then if lucky and good enough you got a record contract, thats how it was. Every week you could see really good bands playing in your town or the next town. for a few quid you got an evening of top music....now its gone...creative music is dead

  • Bonham, Paice, Powell, Moon, are all legends in their own right. I love them all.

  • In my opinion, Ian is one of the worlds best drummers, along with Buddy rich, keith moon, John Bonham, and Neil peart.

  • my favorite drummers are easily the early hard rock drummers: paice, bonham, moon, and mitchell

  • With all due respect, a lot of musicians don't stand the test of time. But Ian Paice was one of my father's favorite drummers - and he's one of mine nowadays! His playing is still amazing and powerful, and on top of it, he seems to be one of the nicest gentleman in Rock'n Roll.

  • ian paice it´s fooooooooolss

  • wow,the audience is cold as ice

  • @ejdbk Danish culture may explain that, but you could tell that the fans were moved by Paice's performance. Perhaps John Bonham would've melted that ice.

  • @JeffGR4

    yeah,john is awesome

  • @ejdbk John was getting fat & out of shape by 1980 & it was starting to effect his chops & stamina. IMO, if he would've lived, his playing would've continued to decline. Check out Knebworth '80 as an example. That being said, Bonham was & continues to be a huge influence of mine. Not everyone gets to keep their skills.

  • @Sirscorps

    yeah,but still,he is so awesome

  • @ejdbk I agree, he's my fave. He was one of my main influences when I 1st got into Zeppelin back in 1984 or so. Starr, Peter Criss, Carmine Appice, Bozzio & Morganstein have been some others of mine.

  • @Sirscorps

    yeah

    i am not a drummer,but i have a question

what do you guys think of nick mason(pink floyd)?

i think he is a GREAT drummer, especially on dark side of the moon

but a lot of people think he is not that good

  • @ejdbk I'm not a PF fan by any means so I can't give you an opinion on his playing as a whole. I mean, i'm sure he's good & from what i've heard he definitely plays for what's best for each song, which is definitely a plus. His timing seems to be excellent & he's tasteful in his fill choices but a bit bland, from what i've heard but i've probably heard only about 10 of their songs. Don't forget, just because a player doesn't show his chops on album doesn't ALWAYS mean he doesn't have any.

  • @Sirscorps Well yeah! it's like my drum teacher used to say, you're not a good drummer because of the things you actually do on the drumkit, but rather because of all that you can do which you choose not to and you keep to yourself. Ian Paice is the perfect example of a wild drummer who plays just about what's required for the song. Same thing we can say about nick mason. But deep down paiceys capable of stuff like this. That's the idea.

  • @ejdbk YOU ARE RIGHT IN WHAT MANY "DRUMMER TYPES" MAY FEEL ABOUT NICK...I LIKED HIM HE DID WHAT HE HAD TO DO FOR PINK FLOYD-HE FIT THE BAND-I TEND(AS A DRUMMER) TO LOOK AT NICK AS A PIECE OF THE FLOYD PUZZLE-RATHER THAN PUTTING HIM "OUT THERE' AS THAT SOLO DRUMMER OR DRUMMER WHO HAS 'BAD AZZ' SOLO'S -HE FIT AND WORKED WELL FOR THE BAND AND KEPT THE GROOVE and flowing-so that makes a good drummer, anyway!

  • for my he's the best drummer and he looks like ozzy osbourne xD

  • Hehe, this guy always used AKG mics...

  • Best of the best!

  • King of the snare!

  • the Buddy Rich of Rock!!!

  • One of the first drummers I tried to imitate was Carl Palmer.

  • I could hear the Buddy influence hear without a dought. I gather Ian as a kid would head down to Ronnie Scotts joint and admire the Jazz masters. His playing rotates around the snare and branches outward. The BOTTOM HEAVY Tripletes from Sam Woodyard which BAKER and Bonham copt as well. The best and skilled player of the rock scene out of Britain of that era was Carl Palmer. Was and is a Jazzer Buddy even aknowleged it ,best young player out of the UK.

  • T H E B E S T D R U M M E R E V E R ! ! !

  • shit hot

  • wow, just came across this video, this is the best Ian I've seen on you tube...check out his right hand at 1.03, Buddy Rich, ish and Ian's left handed !!!! You know it's too bad more of us can not do what some of the people in the world can, just so we can feel what its like...ie. Woods at golf, Miller at skiing, Jordan at basketball, Sinatra singing....maybe in the next life we get to do it?

  • watch?v=wBEHx_2Pe2I

  • That's a nice solo! It seems that most or at least many people rate drummers on there speed and/or technique. Personally, I think drums are the heartbeat of LIFE! If "music" is looked at from an athletic viewpoint then many rock drummers and it's like Dennis Chambers the guys for you but if drums are to be musical and perhaps tell a story and most of of have some "heart" then there really aren't that many rock drummers on the list. Roy Haynes will be 86 years old next month and from what I saw

  • If you don't use cymbal stands like that your a punk! LOL

  • john henry bonham can suck Ian Paice's big fat cock.

  • @TonchBiik no ian paice can suck john bonham's big fat cock, ian paice is good but bonham is much much better when it comes to accuracy and speed, bonham definitely outplays paice and he's much stronger, which brings about stamina, strength and speed at the same time.

  • @PeachFuzzyNavel Big-time wanker U R.

  • Ian is an all time classic! Buddy Rich taken to the next level.Rock On!

  • @smogbat50 WHO taken to the next level??? LOL.

  • 3 people needs to have their balls kicked!!!

  • * 4 : Mike Portnoy

  • The Best Drummers ever 1.Keith Moon 2.John Bohnam 3.Ian Paice 4.Nick Mason 5.Neil Peart 6.Joey Jordison 7.Nick Mason 8.Bill Ward 9.Cozy Powell 10.Mitch Mitchell
  • @MrUprising2010

    1. John Bohnam 2. Ian Paice 3. Keith Moon

    :)

  • What a badass... You see guys nowadays with these giant drum sets who don't have near the talent this guy does... Rock n Roll God

  • Don't forget Joe Morello...glasses and was, is, a bad ass.

  • @LeopoldGold1 also one of my favs

  • @shavethebravedave This realdrummer110's idea of a hot drummer. No bout a doubt it..

  • Paradiddles baby

  • @Americant47 That's right, that's why I call my words loud, sorry I drank some cognak that day. I think I understand in drums only technical skills, because I really do not see any melody flow or something like this, I estimate the drummer from the point of veiw of crossovers if you like, speed, how fast they move the sticks and how complex is the track of the move itself. I hope you understand what I mean. I play piano by myself and of course it's difficult to exlain for me.

  • CHAD SMITH.

  • @Americant47 i'm not an egotist, I just say things as they are. If your opinion matters more to you than the facts, you're the egotist, not me.

  • @Americant47 I'm not sure I agree with that statement at all. Carl Palmer has shown clear evidence of his technical abilities. This goes all the way back to ELP in 1971, not just by his fans today. As a drummer I can tell you that Carl has an energy supply that is beyond human. He plays with a speed, and smoothness, and can turn his sticks over and back while playing at blinding speeds. Crossovers? check. the simple fact that Carl got the high praise he got from Buddy Rich shows his greatness.

  • @jetfreak4 I am a real fan of ELP, and King Crimosn, YEs, Doors, Pink Floyd, and art rock, and hard rock and everything that is connected with true music. I know a lot about jazz legends, and I know that Buddy Rich said about Palmer as the most powerful drummer of our time. I agree, it's vividly seen that Palmer plays drumds with speed that beyond our uderstanding..

  • @Americant47, I would like to apologize for loud and offensive words. But I am pretty sure that dimensions, universes are not the tools for distinguishing one truly genius drummer from another.

  • @Americant47 Agreed. I think Buddy Rich is number one and always will be, but Virgil Donati is just amazing. So is Carl Palmer, for that matter.

  • @Americant47 you are fucking ridiculous creating dimensions for drummers like Buddy Rich or Ian Paice, you just can not do that dude, have not right, : lol:)), and even more ridiculous that you are so confident, i think you can not even play the drummers to make any comparisons. Ian is a professional drummers, like Buddy Rich, Palmer, Bonham, Mastelotto (if you want), Gilles, Brufford, even Densmore and many others. They all have variety of different complicated sets in their solos

  • @Rishon1981 Both drummers suck...Lars Ulrich is best

  • This drum solo is from 1972 but can still keep up with other great drummers today. (example- Virgil Donati, Mike portnoy etc....) This solo was already made before the drum solos became popular.... Ian is a true master on the drums....

(I acually think he´s better than Buddy Rich....)

  • Paice is a fantastic drummer, well deserved among the greats along with John Bonham, Ginger Baker, and Carl Palmer, but he is nothing compared to Buddy Rich. And that's not just opinion, it's fact. The day I see Ian do one of Buddy's magical one-handed crossovers is when I will say he could be as good. Trust me, Buddy Rich remains unmatched to this day, and Paice would be the first to tell you that.

  • @jetfreak4 i think crossovers can do every professional drummer, I specially took a look at Rich once more, really wanted to see for how much he is better than Paice. Yes, I saw really complex sets, and your crossovers all around the drums, but I would never say that Ian can not play this or is less genius for this. Maybe he is the first who did it, but it doesnt mean that the only one, Donatti is the evidence of our days

  • @Rishon1981 I'm sorry, but Donati is just not Buddy Rich. You're the only person I've seen to date that even tries comparing other drummers to him. Buddy is the limit, as the other user on here has testified to. All you are flailing forth is your opinion. You can feel free to disagree, you're wasting your time on me though. Every drummer who has ever existed since Buddy has acknowledged his greatness. Buddy and the other jazz greats remain unmatched by any modern drummer.

  • @jetfreak4 i am sorry too loud words. I admire Buddy Rich and have knowledge of jazz music. Yes Buddy is the King, I've never seen somebody playing better, this is limit ever i think! But even Buddy himself said that Carl Palmer is greatest musician of our days for instance. I just wanted to say, that however, there are several drummers who have supposedly achieved his level. And I am not that waistig your time on you, I have a conversation with which is a source of true..

  • @Saerdna1521 your a fucking idiot

  • @Saerdna1521 I think you are forgetting about solos by Bonzo, Carl Palmer, and Toad. You're also forgetting about many drum solos of the jazz greats.

  • This drum solo is from 1972 but can still keep up with other great drummers today. (example- Virgil Donati, Mike portnoy etc....) This solo was already made before the drum solos became popular.... Ian is a true master on the drums....

(I acually think he´s better than Buddy Rich....)

  • seine mutter :-D

  • Rudiments, Rudiments, Rudiments, ya think Ian ever studied Buddy's licks? I think yes.

  • Who's better

    Paice or Bonham?

    VOTE NOW!

  • @GeorgeHarrison00

and the third option Keith moon!!

  • @odannon yeah i thought of that too

  • @GeorgeHarrison00 They are both legends but Ian Paice is my inspiration it's all a matter of opinon though.

  • @GeorgeHarrison00 Bonham just an opinion paice is a fucking god!

  • All I hear is Bonham. Still love the guy though

  • @johnbonhamdrummer looooooooooooool

  • I find the most impressive part of this solo to be when Ian does triplets between his right foot and two quick strokes around the kit with his sticks. Not alternating the stroke order (right foot right stick left stick), while speeding it up like he is is hard as hell because it requires not allowing your feet or hands to do their own thing, and it's not a natural four four feel. Bonzo has a very similar technique to this. I've been trying to get this down, and you have to count like crazy.

  • don brewer is better ; ]

  • @MultiGFR I have no idea who that is, but it really does not get that much better than Ian Paice. This solo in particular is very underrated. It may actually top Toad and Moby Dick in my opinion, just because it isn't nearly as long and drawn out and doesn't have nearly as long cooling off periods. It basically says just as much if not more than either Moby Dick or Toad in a lot less time. Anyway, at their levels, saying one drummer is better than another is like comparing all-star athletes.

  • Awesome snare sound!

  • It's guys like this that drive me to learn more and more on the drums.

  • Anyone hear any Neil Peart here :))

  • Awesome percussion. Long live Rock music and the folk that make it what it is.

  • two words buddy frickin' rich!!!!!!... o.k. three words!

  • that's what I like about Ian; he is probably in the top 3 greatest drummers of a time and he used a pretty small kit.

  • probably the best classic rock drummer who will ever live, imho...,

  • REALLY ENJOYABLE...

  • This man can play his ghost notes.

  • I think he's a cross between Bonham and Mitch Mitchell. He's simply one of the greats.

  • His Drums are MassssivE!! lol, wat a amazing drummer hes deff in my top 5

  • @MotorheadDrew the tom is 16'' floor toms: 18'' and 20'' and the bass drum is 26''

  • great drummer...... where are all the great drummers in todays music...???

  • Great chops + supraphonic + 3ply ludwigs= that's the result

  • can somethign tell me what is the thing is he doing at 0:21 to 0:22, buddy rich do the same thing.

    PLEEEEAAAASE TELL ME

  • no discussion of the greatest rock drummers is complete without mentioning Paice - this guy was doing stuff back in the 60's that had never been seen before - I love Peart, Bonham, Moon, however too many people are ignorant of how truly AWESOME Paice is.. this guy is easily one of the top 5 ever in my opinion..

  • One of the best drummers in rock ever

  • Mitico assolo....da questi grandi sono sorti i più grandi batteristi attuali

  • ian paice, john bohnam, keith moon they to me were the pioneers jazz, big band, and rock fusion they all play with. feel they actually played the set like an instrument not just something to pound on

  • Now... Let me quote from the great Book of Rock... Ahem.... "And on the seventh and most sacred day, the Lord said with a mighty and trembling scream, "LET THERE BE ROCK!" And so it was, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Sabbath, AC/DC, and many other were born."

  • Ian Paice, John Henry Bonham, Keith Moon, Bill Ward, and Neil Peart are all in my top five greatest drummers of all time. They are in no particular order, but, as of recently, I've been thinking of Paice as a possible #1. He is like a combo between Bonham and Moon style wise (not skill wise - they all are/were at the same skill level). It's incredible! Seriously, no one can get any better because they are literally the best at what they do.

  • @Coolinbnyoncrack You have to include Ginger Baker in that list as well. Ginger Baker is undoubtedly in the top 5. Even at an amateur level I hardly had to work to play Keith Moon. I wouldn't even put him in the top ten or the top 20. Guys like Mitch Mitchell, Carter Beauford, Carl Palmer, Terry Bozzio, and Stewart Copeland easily qualify ahead of Moon. Aside from Moon, comparing drummers like these is like comparing NBA superstars..each plays differently and has their own style of greatness.

  • @jetfreak4 Listen to live at leeds, try and play moon then get back to me.

  • @MrRyguy69

He's great in Live at Leeds, but you obviously fail to realize that he's got two bass drums, as opposed to Paice who only has one. Regardless, yeah, he's a fantastic drummer...had I actually heard of Live at Leeds (I don't follow the Who) I would've given him more credit. But if you think nobody can play that, you're retarded. He's a great accompanist, as are all the guys I mentioned. However, I stand by him not being a good soloist.

  • @jetfreak4 No, he's not a good soloist but being an accompanist is far more important. The fact that Moon has two bass drums means nothing his playing is with his hands. I didn't say nobody could play like that I just don't believe some anonymous kid on the internet boasting about skills that he probably doesn't have.

  • @jetfreak4 True, but Keith Moon had this very special style! Free and energic :o

That makes him on the top 5 list.

  • @jetfreak4 i think you might be off there. undoubtibly these guys are so freaking talented dont get me wrong. so much skill and practaice. but it isnt always that its just the grove of the beat. i consider danny carey from tool 50 times better then neil peart. both 2 of my favorit drummers but god dam can danny get into one god dam hell of a grove. and neil peart just shreds

  • @ryan79ryan Whatever I said before I don't know, but there's a lot of different components to what I would say constitutes the ultimate drummer groove, feel, flow, technical and rudimentary skills, speed. Big kits can be played just as complexly as basic kits, and vice versa. Guys at this level are not just good, but they are unique enough that they basically could not be replaced by another drummer, and they add a new dimension to drumming.

  • @Nobody ever came close to pacie

  • @omereis2nd I agree that Paice is a god but to say he is a stand-alone god is a huge mistake. You ever hear of people named john bonham, neil peart, ginger baker, carl palmer, mitch mitchell, bill ward, and stewart copeland? Better yet, you ever hear of guys even better than Paice named Buddy Rich, Billy Cobham, Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaita, Dave Weckl...need I go on? Buddy Rich is the one nobody come close to. Paice has nothing on him.

  • @jetfreak4 ok1st things1st,i respect your opinion,it is your opinion.however,to say that you could play like keith moon at amateur level says not only was keith moon a bad drummer, but so was john bonham.Bonham came out and said that moon was better.Keith Moon could pull off practically anything on the drums. He would play bass drum dominantly w/his right leg&then switch to playing dominantly w/his left in the middle of a song!Check out "keith moon pete townshend solo IOW 1970" on youtube sometime

  • @stacy208 Moon came out and said that Bonham was better when they played together in a concert, so really that says nothing. Second off, playing bass drum dominantly with one leg or the other really isn't that much of a stretch. I can do it. And if you're telling me I'm an amateur, that's laughable to begin with because you don't even know me. Keith might be a good accompanist...as a soloist he's terrible. There is nothing Keith Moon does that can't be learned.

  • @jetfreak4 not trying to start a fight here, but id like to see where moon said that. anyways if you can play dominantly with both of your legs on the bass drum, why dont you post a video or something that shows that. i certainly, as a drummer, have not got the technique yet to pull that off. anyways listen to townshend sum up moon's drumming. he said something along the lines of "how do you practice something like that?" & i think u were trying to say that bonzo had 1 bass drum. just sayin.

Bonzo's right foot outdoes both of Keith's together, plus his triplets.

  • @stacy208

First off, Keith Moon had two bass drums...Bonzo had two. listen to him in the 1969 Communication Breakdown...he blows Moon away. Secondly, I listened to keith moon pete townshend IOW 1970....I've seen Bonzo do shit just as impressive...he does an incredible finish to Rock 'n Roll as well as How many more times in 1973 that is every bit as good. Moon's performance is good, but it's not mind-boggling at all. I suggest you watch Buddy Rich if you want to see somebody who can do it all.

  • @jetfreak4 furthermore, I can play how many more times and rock and roll on the drums (studio and live). it really is not that hard, but at the time i understand it was totally unheard of for someone like bonzo to come along and pull something like that off. also the single foot thing isnt that hard either. its just slide technique on the single pedal, and jojo mayer goes in depth on that at the modern drummer festival 1998.Bonham is and always has been my favourite drummer, but IOW imo is insane

  • @jetfreak4 the first drummer playing 2 and sometimes even 3 bass drums was - according to billy cobham in an interview also to be seen here from youtube - louis bellson 8-) btw search youtube for "buddy rich louis bellson" and other name combinations, and you'll probably see & hear some stuff for the first time in your life ;-)

  • @jetfreak4 Bonzo NEVER used a double bass.

  • @bman546: so fuckin' what??? at least Ian introduced the double bass drum in the rock history... see therefore followers Dave Lombardo, Lars Ulrich and the whole thrash,- death,- grindcore,- etc.etc. etc. metal generation...

  • @johnny150480

I am just clarifying that Bonzo never used a double bass to correct an inaccurate comment. There was no judgement, or praise intended toward one drummer vs another. Relax. BTW, Ginger Baker and Keith Moon were famous users of double bass kits from 1966 onward. Nobody knew who Ian Paice was until 1968. Know your facts, and relax. I love Ian Paice.

  • @bman546 i saw a video where he uses DOUBLE bass drums. In 1969...

  • @shotguy1 This is the same show. He actually walks off the stage to get the other kick drum & pretty much sets it up by himself (except for the mic.), so there's about a 3min. break in-between songs while they do this. Kind of odd to see but i'm assuming that he didn't just use the 2nd kick all of the time as part of his kit because he wanted to make sure people knew he wasn't "cheating", so to speak @ his craft.

    /Single kick user.

  • @Sirscorps Im taliking about BONHAM not PAICE i saw this concert about 20 times sooo...,

  • @jetfreak4 Terry Bozzio, really?

  • Can anyone agree with the Fuck Off Portnoy slogan after hearing Ian?

  • The best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's a left handed drummer?~!

  • that nigga's the man

  • Shows that he can imulate Buddy and Bonzo

  • He's emulating Buddy, yes, but not Bonzo. Why would he?

  • Great stick control between 1:03 - 1:08

  • Paice is so naturally gifted that its rediculous!! But, Bonham had an amazing drum sound, but, then again, he had Eddie Kramer to help him out!

  • The best fusion drumming i've ever heard would definately have to be Narada Micheal Walden on Visions of the Emerald Beyond by The Mahavishnu Orchestra, released in 1975. Freakish drumming & amazing drum sound!!!!!!

  • Is There One Better? .... I think NOT !!! Ian Paice IS......ROCK-N-ROLL's Percussionist, extraordinaire, Through the years, tears, and beers, America has watched this man bring Happiness to the souls of his fellow percussionist, and none has proven to be faster than the speed of sound, as this video will show, and as a fine bottle of Rothschilde wine, He has only gotten better with age. Rock On My Brother Rock On !!!!

  • just watch the video here on you tube writing speed king Paice view and you will understand why Paice is still the best drummer in rock and surely better than Bonham...both great styles but Paice is surely better...Bonzo is too overrated...

  • I think Ian is the only guy in the world to wear glasses and play the drums like a bona-fide badass. Definitely one of rocks most valuable drummers.

  • @MrAlexOfBullhead yes... him and guy patterson

  • Haha I want a drum set like this some day

  • the mule .its an animal that its a great for carring big loads .and they are also infertile.they have no offspring.i think the mule its about noone is son of ian paice drumming there is no second one.

  • @bengativo6

That's... actually a pretty concurable point.

There has been never a left handed drummer, or drummer in general, like Ian Paice.

He is argueably hard rock's most cherished drummer; as much as Eddie Van Halen is as the aforementioned genre's most valuable guitarist.

  • @MrAlexOfBullhead thanks man.i love his playing. ian is just great.remember noone like him

  • paice is better because led zeppelin stole songs

  • Comment removed

  • Paice is great by the way.

  • In response to livejamm69. Bonzo is not overated! there's a reasom why nearly every rock drummer in history tried to copy him, his groove, power and drum tone was second to none! Every drum line he played in Zep was the exact right part to compliment the song, it wasn't about showing off technique it was about song craft! I LOVE Paice but he took a lot of his chops from the incredible Buddy Rich! As for Narada Michael Walden, his work on Jeff Beck's "Wired" is amazing!!

  • you know, I've always thought narada's performance on Wired is underrated. That to me is probably top 3 best fusion, jazz rock performances on the drums ever. And he's also the main composer on that record. wonderful.. i love this though.. adore it

  • Narada on Tommy Bolin's "teaser" album show he is one of the best jazz-rock drummers ever...but in the rock field Paice will remain numer 1...

  • deep purple was blackmore-lord and gillan

  • and that's half the story...

  • lol hoskie dc fuck u ...

"better in all way" u must have 5 years old

deep purple technique is below of the greatest prog rock bands..

    also

    the techinique is not all

zep had 2 albums before purple's n rock

every purple songs has a typical sound

zep was more versatile , had more creativity and they grow up as a band, while after failures like wdwtwa and funky style, mark 2 ( imo the greatest lineup) broke up

    into a fuckin menudo.

    ritche blackmore is awesome btw

  • Its my pleasure charlessaverese! Im sick and tired of this overated s**t with Bonham. No one has the groove, feel and technical speed of Ian paice in rock drumming. I've been playing drums for 23 years and he never fails to blow me away ! As for Simon Phillips, hes phenominal, but drummers like Billy Cobham, Narada Micheal Walden and Lenny White are much more naturally gifted and would leave his ass in the dust! But you see, most people dont even know who Narada Micheal Walden is! lol Cheers!

  • Really, mate. It's like comparing walaroos with koalas.

  • @livejamm69. Bonham overrated? PSSHHHT. If you have been playing music for 23 years, you should be able to recognize why Bonham has been so respected among musicians for over 40 years now. If you don´t... well, then I guess musical maturity doesn´t always count in years playing.

  • @budwudd I got to that point where I just ignore the obvious troll who is obvious.

  • Ive seen Paicey...Ive seen Neil....didn't see Bonzo :(....but hands down the best drummer I have ever seen play...and this is NO contest: Simon Phillips.

  • Insane!! Paicey and Bonham are my favourite drummers!

  • Ian has some of the smoothest sounding rolls in the business. The clarity and execution of his single and double stroke rolls is on a par with that of the great jazz drummers.

  • @castlehilldude Well put, castle. Get a load of the crock o'shit comment left by killinglies. Ha! He should start with his own!
